While I'm dying to know who's your favorite woman in power of 2008, a well-known female might soon jump from prominent to powerful. Rumor has it that New York Governor David Paterson has talked to Caroline Kennedy about filling Hillary Clinton's Senate seat.
Caroline wouldn't be the first Kennedy to fill that seat — her uncle Robert F. Kennedy served as the senator from New York.
Until recently, Caroline typically shunned public attention. But this year we saw her run Barack Obama's VP selection team, and she appeared with her uncle Teddy at an Obama rally while the candidate was still fighting a bitter primary battle with Hillary Clinton. Would you like to see another Senator Kennedy?

Nooooooooo!!!
New blood!
I'm so sick of Kennedys, Bushs, and Clintons!
1I hope it's true, she is a brilliant and elegant lady. I'm sue she will serve ALL the people of New York.
2I would love to see Caroline fill Hillary's seat - heck, that'd be worth moving to New York for!
3I thought i heard somewhere that she might be one of Obama's ambassadors...
4I hope this is true. I am sure she will serve all her constituents with care and respect.
5I'm curious. Does C Kennedy even live in New York? I know it doesn't matter, since Clinton didn't live in New York either, but I thought there was some sort of residency requirement to be a senator.
6Yes Dave, Caroline Kennedy lives in New York City, with her husband and kids. He is President of Edwin Schlossberg, Inc., a Multi-Disciplinary Design Company that specializes in Interactive Exhibit Design and Museum Master-Planning.
7She is so cute, I love Caroline. I know she's big on public education so I thought Secretary of Education would have been good for her, but this is fine too.
8Yessss!!!! I love me some Kennedy's and some Clinton's
9Eh...although I do like her I don't think she would be the best choice for New York.
10I love the Kennedys!
11ummmm, haven't we seen what the Kennedy Curse gets us? A war in southeast asia, a drunken ski accident, two assasinations, and a plane crash...
12When so many people of one family achieve high office, I think we can be sure that merit didn't get them there.
13You go, Carolina Moon.
14me too, wadewifey
15I'm curious about the credentials that make her qualified to serve as a senator. She has been very involved in public service, but she's never held elected office and she has no legal education that I know of. The Senate is an awfully big stage with a lot of power and I'm not sure it's the place to go for on the job training. Perhaps a state-level post first?
16She's more qualified than most Senators probably - Kennedy is an attorney, editor, writer and member of the New York and Washington, D.C. bars - has written books on civil liberties, is considered an expert on the First Amendment, and edited a version of her father's book "Profiles in Courage."
She's involved in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, where she is the foundation president. One thing her work for the for the Foundation does is make her aware of elected officials - they give annual profiles in courage awards to officials who, acting in accord with their conscience, risk their careers by pursuing a larger vision of the national, state or local interest in opposition to popular opinion or powerful pressures from their constituents.
Kennedy has worked as chief executive for the Office of Strategic Partnerships for the New York City Department of Education and helped raise more than $65 million for the city’s public schools. She serves on the boards of legal and arts groups.
Other senators have been housewives, exterminators, obstetricians...
17Well, as long as she's written a book and edited some sort of journal, I think she's qualified for any position in the United States government.
18I like Caroline and I think she'd do a fine job.
19God knows we've elected worse people to more important offices. George W. anyone?? And I honestly don't think she'd take on a role like this if she didn't feel she was capable of doing a good job of it.
She's far more experienced and qualified for any job than Sarah Palin is.
20Thanks for all that information, Steph. I honestly wasn't aware of all her experience. From what you said, it sounds like she would make a great Senator!
21"She's far more experienced and qualified for any job than Sarah Palin is."
What?
22Is Sarah Palin the standard by which we measure potential senators now? Or was Palin in the running?
Random.
23Not a standard Mich, simply a recent, topical, comparison.
