TS: What do you think the benefit is to marriage over long-term partnership?
AC: I personally feel like my husband is extra committed to me because he's my husband, and I'm extra committed to him because I'm his wife. I think it's really a personal choice. I have friends who are together for 10 years upwards who are not married. They don't want to get married. They have kids, and they're just like, "Why put a label on it?" And I see the benefit in that. If you're to stay with someone for any length of time, you have to keep recommitting to the person anyway. When you're actually officially legally married, it just makes it that much harder to leave. And the truth is, I think that's a good thing. Because any relationship goes through times where you're like, "I'm outta here." So I'm pleased that with a marriage you have that extra pause of: "Am I really out of here? What does it mean if I'm out of here?"
