This Amalfi Coast Wedding Will Leave You Breathless

Get ready to lose yourself in Italian eye candy, as the stunning cliffs of the Amalfi Coast take center stage at Gus and Morgan's destination wedding. You can't really beat a ceremony with a Mediterranean Sea backdrop and a dinner in a castle cellar. Bride Morgan tells us more about her breathtaking big day:

The Inspiration

"I wanted to spend quality time with the people who are closest to me. I wanted it to be intimate, to have an old-world romance or vintage feel to it, but also be a lighthearted celebration. My lifelong love of Italy led us to the enchanting Amalfi Coast where I fell in love with the historical Villa Scarpariello. The architecture, art, and Mediterranean set the scene for a beautiful ceremony, and the staff was incredibly helpful and hospitable so we could enjoy our five days there.

We wanted to do the ceremony outside with the sea as a backdrop because Gus proposed to me on the Tasmanian coast last Summer. I wanted to let the character of the Villa be the main focus, to let the simple beauty of the place move people. I chose a color palette of neutral but classic colors ā€” blush, gray, navy, and cream. We incorporated a few personal details like sequins thrown after the ceremony, and name cards made on my typewriter for the dinner. Oh, and sparklers!"

Favorite Moment

"We decided to write our own ceremony, which was challenging because we didn't know where to start. Myself, my sister, brother-in-law (who officiated), and fiancƩ locked ourselves in a room that morning and wrote the text. It was so meaningful and personal because it was a collaboration between all of us. I loved every moment of the ceremony because it was so honest and real.

Another great moment was when I was waiting on the stairs ready to walk down the aisle and feeling a bit nervous. We decided everyone could have their own entry music, and I heard my brother-in-law's choice: "Ruff Ryders' Anthem" by DMX. I laughed so hard everyone could hear me! It made me relax because I remembered I was with all my best friends and it was going to be really fun.

After our dinner we went back to the Villa for a dance party. My friends made me wait upstairs while setting 300 tea lights into the stone walls, all over the terrace and into the empty pool. Walking down the same stairway as for the ceremony, I stepped into this ethereal, dreamlike world ā€” the lighting and the music and the sea were almost as beautiful as all our friends coming together to create this special surprise for us. The whole wedding was such a team effort and I felt so much gratitude that our close friends and family came out to support us. It was also quite silly ā€” I got to witness a twerking contest between my brother-in-law and friends. Wow."

Advice For Brides

"I recommend taking a few moments alone right after the wedding to process what just happened and have a good laugh. As for planning, listen respectfully and patiently to people's opinions, but stay true to your vision. You can't make everyone happy and you can't have it all ā€” so prioritize and be honest with yourself about what you want.

Spend the time to find a great photographer. We have so much fun reliving the moments and seeing all the things we missed through our photos and video, and we are eternally grateful to our photographer and videographer for capturing the magic of this day.

Lastly, for our guest book we asked people to leave us advice. I'll share the best note we received: 'When in doubt, turn up Whitney or Mariah and make out like teenagers!'"
