Ad-Rageous: McCain Launches General Election Campaign

It might only be March, but John McCain has officially kicked off the general election. Here's his first ad, the airing of which tacitly points to the time the Democrats are losing while they continue to scrap amongst themselves.

"We're Americans and we'll never surrender." "624787." Whichever Democrat is left standing has a pretty big mountain to climb against McCain.

lilkimbo, I find it even funnier that some of the same people make the comment that McCain is the same as Bush, you have shown through policies that he is not, they d not show how he is the same, but will then in another thread a few days later make the same comment.

I find it interesting and also ridiculous the number of people who believe that McCain is just another Bush. Countless times on this site I have detailed how the vast majority of McCain's policies vastly differ from Bush's, but I guess it just sounds good to some people to say, "McCain is just another Bush." I'm sure most of these people couldn't really say how McCain is just like Bush, mostly because he isn't. As for the ad, I think it was good to keep his name out there. And yes, it didn't delve too deeply into his policies, but it was a 60-second ad; how deep into policy can you really get in 60 seconds? Also, I definitely don't think he overuses his POW past in campaigning. In fact, he rarely mentions it. I think it's something his supporters mention a lot more than he does. And Calliope, out of curiosity, what is so unsavory about his past, politically?

Good first ad for McCain. It is a very soft ad, but it gets his name in the media. Until the Dems come up with a delegate, McCain is going to have a hard time keeping his namein circulation. I find it interesting the number of people who see McCain as another GW Bush.

I personally believe it was worth every second of my 8 1/2 hours yesterday to see Americans working to come together on finalizing their decisions within their district on a delegate to represent us. I got to meet alot of passionate people whom are willing to give up their time to be part of the process in this election. I will continue to share what my grandparents taught me. EVERY vote counts! One person can make a difference. I saw it happen yesterday and will not doubt it again. Over 19,000 Americans turned out in my area and I am thankful to them all.

All I know is that Hilary and Barack are shooting themselves in their feet right now and McCain is reaping all the rewards. The ad itself is redundant, The American President that America needs or whatever? OF COURSE AMERICANS NEED AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT. grrrrr...

Mat if you don't think this ad showed any of his policies, did you not read any of the headlines that were presented on the screen?Its one thing to say that you don't agree with his policies, but if you say he hasn't presented any of them, well, then you really haven't been paying attention.Not to mention that this is just a soft ad since he still doesn't know who he is up against, obv. he's not going to get into the nitty gritty yet.

He sounds like something out of the 1950's!"I about fell out of my chair laughing when he said that. After explaining who McCain was, my husband simply said "Um, okay...what was the point of the commercial? It didn't tell us anything about him except his serial number."Personally, I'm with my husband. He doesn't talk about his policies, what he stands for, or anything like that. He basically says "I've been here a long time and I was a soldier".So....that equates to what....you've been around for a lot of wars and can offer us more warmongering?I mean...seriously, I don't see an ad that doesn't really say anything about the man other than he was a soldier selling anyone on his campaign.

I don't care how they try to package it, I don't want four more years of Bush, and that's all McCain has to offer.

I agree that the Democratic squabbling is ridiculous, but I think McCain constantly milking his P.O.W status is disgusting. The Dems arguing is allowing McCain to hide his unsavory past for a while longer, but the spotlight will be on his policies and psychotic temper soon enough.

I really think he's doing what he needs to do. Lots of undecideds (And other party-affiliates) are being turned off from the democratic split we have right now. . .
