Thank-you SO much for these links. I was just saying to my friend last night that I felt very uninformed about where the candidates stand on issues. The news coverage is all about the race vs. what the candidates stand for, which imho is the important part.
1Yes! Thank you. I mean, I pretty much knew more or less which party I was going to vote for, but you guys provided us with some awesome sites with the break down of issues and positions which I really needed to brush up on.
2cool
3thanks!
That's cool, Liberty. I knew most of that, but there were some surprises.
4Citizen- you forgot to include Ron Paul! He's a great person and the only honest person running for this office- I guess that's why the media shafts him.
But you could include him- so that Teamsugar members are aware of this neglected Republican candidate!
5sweetrae80-- How could I forget Ron! I added his position. Thanks for pointing it out!
6sweetrae80, I was noticing the same thing. I'm glad Ron Paul is going to be included in this because he's been ignored by most media outlets and had very little coverage here. He's scored higher than Giuliani in the primaries and most polls, so he definitely should be included. He's got great views and I think most people would agree with what he has to say.
7BTW- Ron Paul does not endorse a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, even though, sadly, he does not support it. Being a real republican he doesn't believe in giving more power to the federal government and a decision like this should be left to the states.
The constitution should be there to give rights to the people of this country, not take them away.
Thanks for adding Ron Paul!
8I have found a lot of information on the candidates websites as well. Instead of just a blanket yes or no on the issues, they tend to explain their position and how they intend to impliment it on their websites in the sections marked "Issues".
This was true for Obama and Hilary, and I am guessing it is true for all of the Republican candidates as well.
Yeah to Citizen for supporting educated voting decisions! I love this site!
9Thanks Jillness! I'm glad you pointed out that the websites are a great resource. We're lucky that we have the ability to move beyond the soundbites thanks to the internet.
10Great information - thanks for posting this information. Just make sure you can read pdf's when you go to the candidates site for their downloads. That will make sure that you are really informed.
11I agree Liberty, soundbites do not help consituents make informed decisions at all! Hopefully people will take advantage of technology.
12http://ronpaullibrary.org has some really great information on Ron Paul if anyone is interested.
13ronpaullibrary.org has some great information on Ron Paul in case anyone is interested.
14Nice to see others supporting Ron Paul!
