Since Valentine's Day is fast approaching, I suspect many of you will be receiving lingerie from your husbands or boyfriends on February 14th. I absolutely love the way lingerie looks, but I've never been comfortable wearing lacy bras and panties — I'd rather stick with a slinky nightgown or cute pair of boy shorts. Since feeling sexy is different for everyone, do tell, do you feel sexy in lingerie?

I will definitely NOT be receiving lingerie for V-day. My boyfriend thinks that sexy lingerie is like trying too hard and prefers understated cotton briefs. Works for me. I don't think most lingerie is all that comfy and it's generally really expensive!
1I don't know if you believe..but I don't feel sexy in sexy lingerie. Lingerie doesn't make me sexy because it's underneath. Clothes make me sexy.
2What I meant lingerie doesn't make me feel sexy but clothes make me feel sexy.
3yes! isn't Victoria's Secret still having a sale? hmm...
4Absolutely! Sexy lingerie is essential - it's like you have a little secret that no one else knows; it's such a confidence-booster!
5if it wasnt so expensive, I'd wear it all day long. It's alright.
agree with bingkaycoy - I'd rather wear clothes that I feel sexy in, not lingerie.
6Ooooooooh I am a lingerie addict. I LOVE lace and ribbons and corsets and G-strings and transparencies!!! The more expensive the better! I have thousands of dollars worth of stuff in my lingerie drawer - it's my vice! I've got all colors and shapes and own enough underwear to last me 3 months without doing laundry.
Victoria Secret is for my ugly fat period days; the rest of the time I'm clad in Aubade, Simone Perele, Agent Provocateur - yum.
And on the outside, I'm usually dressed like a tomboy (I'm a photographer; can't really walk around in skirts and heels!) - so I love knowing that at least a secret part of me is ultra-feminine!
7I hate lingerie for the simple reason it makes me even more self concious than I already am.
8I despise my body...why would I want to showcase that even more
I love love love my sexy lingerie!
9My collection is really starting to get big and I can hoenstly prance around my house in it and feel so sexy!
I like the idea of lingerie, and my fiance loves it, but it's just so flipping uncomfortable. I generally feel awkward in lingerie just because I'm not one of those ultra-sexy girls that like oozes sex appeal. I just sort of feel ridiculous when wearing it.
10yes
11it's empowering!
Not even a little bit. I feel ridiculous in it. I feel sexy in broken-in jeans and a tshirt.
12no i don't feel sexy in it at all. can't afford it, so i would feel bad buying something that i truly don't need.. just for a little extra glamour and ribbon? and second, i hate my body. self-explanatory.
13If I could things in my size that matched, I'd totally rock pretty lingerie.
The designers/shops seem to only think that cups should stop at G, unless you order them over the internet... which never seems that great an idea to me. Even then, the colors/styles are totally limited.
I guess I could buy some lace and sexy-up my unmentionables myself... but I would still need matching underpants.
14Oh, and that habit of "here, your bra is hideous because you are well endowed, so we will add more little bows/flowers" is obnoxious. They're never even a different color to spice up the bra, just the same old beige/nude.
I know my bra is going to look like it was engineered by the Russian version of NASA. This is a fact of life. Stop with the stupid little bows!
15Absolutely! My husband gets me a new outfit for xmas and Valentines day every year, and I can't wait to show it off to him!
16I enjoy my sexy lingerie more than my husband does, I think. It makes me feel sexy and empowered... but my husband just cares that it's me underneath!
17I do but I've been less than impressed with VS for a long time. Plus the fact a bra I bought from them broke after a week.
18Victoria's Secret is awful, in my experience. Their selection is pretty much made for their models, not real women. I'm 4'11" and non-pregnant, I was at a good weight, and I have a 34G bustline. They have NOTHING that fits me.
And their return policy sucks. Of course for my bridal shower people bought stuff there, and I couldn't get any money back. And since they have nothing that fits me, I was stuck with a terry cloth robe worth like $150. Woo. Just what I wanted.
19I worked at Victoria's Secret during college about 5 years ago and stocked up on lots of lingerie when I worked there. I used to wear it all the time under clothing during that time, but gave up because it was uncomfortable to wear corsets and garters all the time! Plus my current boyfriend (of more than 3 years) seems to care more about what's underneath anyway, but I still put it on from time to time because I love the way it looks!
20i dont like it much because its uncomfortable but the fact that my boy(4 years) thinks i look gorgeous in sexy lingerie mostly lace bra and lacy boy shorts then i feel sexy too
21Lingerie is pretty to look at but SO uncomfortable. Besides, the hubby is a big fan of the more casual-sexy, cotton string bikini and one of his oversized t-shirts look. Lucky me.
22I've recently started to get into lingerie - its fun! I felt a little silly at first, but I got past that.
23I really feel badly for the people who feel so negatively about their bodies. No one is perfect, not even the supermodels, so quit comparing yourself to them! Not to sound cheesy, but you should love your body for all the things it does for you. Side note, I highly recommend that new show "How to Look Good Naked" with Carson from Queer Eye. Its like body image boot camp - gives you a whole new way to look at these things that people consider to be flaws.
I'm not comparing myself to supermodels in my VS post, merely saying that their stuff only fits their models. I'm quite happy with my body. Not feeling sexy in lingerie doesn't mean I'm negative about it.
24I like lingerie, but I don't own very much of it, and what I do have isn't very expensive. But, it works. There are days when I wear garters and fishnets just because, but most of the time I'll wear the every day stuff.
25Oh and I HATE VS. Every time I go in there, I vow never to return. Then I forget a year later and go back and then remember what a horrible experience it is.
26It is fun too look at ,but if I put it on..I want to rip it off right away cuz it is so uncomfortable.
27I love my body. So, naturally I feel sexy in anything, lingerie included.
28YES!! i like it but nobody to wear it for so...oh well!
29I like lingerie and think it makes me feel sexy. Its probably the only time I think I actually look sexy, but the problem is that I'm over weight. Not crazy and gross over weight but definitely not like the VS models or most people, I'm a size 16-18. Its hard to find lingerie that fits me.
30I will wear it sometimes just goofing off for my bf but I feel sexier in just hipsters and a tank. it fits my body and my image.
31I love lingerie!!! I buy it for me, not a guy I'm with, but if he happens to see me in it its a win-win....
32I love pretty lacy things so much that my mom used that to potty train me... she bought me lacy panties as a toodler and told me that I had to use the potty so I wouldn't mess up my "pretty panties".... My love of lingerie and my vanity had me using the john in no time! haha So that life long obsession has continued. And I look so damn good in it that I always want to show off my scantly clad body to anyone!.
i LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE lingerie, i LOVE LOVE LOVE.. BUT i usually obsess over wether or not its a good time to go prancing around in it that i miss out =P
and when i do its just off in so little time
33I'm with Dear. I feel sexiest in a pair of boyshorts.
34Not really, it sort of makes me self-conscious about my body. But my undergarments don't tend to stay on too long anyway when my man is after me =P
I think he'd much rather have me naked than in lingerie.
35i prefer being nude to sexy underwear... i want it to be ME that's sexy, not my undies!
36I'd rather just be naked. I don't get the point of lingerie. Ruffles and ribbons and lace irritate me.
I suck at being feminine!
37It's hard not to when my boyfriend goes craaazy when he sees me in it. It never stays on for long though, kind of a waste of money.
38I would wear lingerie if I could afford it... I know my boyfriend is interested in corsets (he knows the Agent Provacateur catalogue forwards and back!) but I have never been able to really find anything that looks nice and fits in my lowely grad student budget... Any suggestions? Nothing at VS fits me either and Frederick's always seems to be too close to the skanky end of the spectrum...
For those of you who do wear lingerie for your man - how exactly do you go about it.. I've never been able to figure it out! Is there a big reveal? Do you enter the closet wearing pjs and emerge in your lingerie? Is there ever any hiding involved?
Maybe I'm overthinking this...
39Yesssssss I feel sexy especially when I wear Victoria Secret. At my age I feel wonderful in them, I forget how old I am, I feel great!
40Tinyunicorn: I found several sites on the web that sells beautiful sexy corsets, etc.. around $20 or so. You just have to search.
41I looove lingerie!!...but I do agree that it's better when it's taken off...by a certain someone....
42Yes! Lingerie makes me feel girly and sexy.
43I've never worn anything but plain black & white bra's and panties, so I can't say for sure.... but I generally feel sexier completely nude than I do with any clothes on. I like my hip bones, I find them fascinating poking at my skin from certain angles, panties block the view.
Then again, I'm an artist so the whole nuded-is-better thing might be due to lots of figure drawing classes spent staring at the shadows of bones and the subtle curves they make beneath the skin. I'm surprised I've never stopped my boy partway through so I could sketch the way shadows were falling on one or both of us. Haha. I don't think he'd be pleased with me if I did that.
44I have sooo much lingerie, and no one to wear it for (laughs).
i know i look good in it, and i love to buy it.
it feels sexy knowing i have on a lacy thong under my skinny jeans and a tunic blouse . . .so one has a clue but me.
and i love VS, and Agent Provacteur. Fredricks has too much padding going on for me.
i'm 5'2 w/ 34C bust, i don't want any padding . . .i'm not going for the mini-Pan Anderson look.

46I feel sexy in it, but I'm convinced my boyfriend doesn't even notice, so I'm just wearing it for me.
47I LOOOOVE lingerie!!! Even just for myself...meaning that if I go out and I know I'm wearing some sexy Victoria's Secret underwear, I feel way more confident. Actually, this may sound ridiculous, but if I'm wearing something a little uncomfortable it just reminds me to feel sexy haha crazy i know. I love lingerie so much-its my favorite thing to shop for (well, that and shoes!)
