Coming up with a baby name that isn't run of the mill is all the rage these days. Perhaps that's why people end up keeping their names hush hush until they sign the birth certificate. Even friends of mine who are years away from having kids, or getting married for that matter, have their favorite baby names stockpiled. Some of them even have the names written down so that they won't forget!
I guess when you come up with a good one you don't want to let it go. Of course, there are certain names I find really beautiful and original, but I think I want to wait until she or he is born before I narrow it down. What about you? Do you already have your baby names picked out?

I have one picked out for a girl. It will be family name. For a boy? I couldn't care less.
1Yea I have a few I really like
2I definitley have a few good ones up my sleeve.
3i do have a few. they are for girls. which is strange because i really want boys. however, i know that anything will be fantastic as long as their healthy.
4i only have one name for each. but now i can't remember what the boy's name was going to be...
5I have a name for a boy and three for girls. I really want to have little girls some day but I guess if I have a boy I'll have time to think of another boy's name before I have one
6Oh yes...I've had my two girl names for years, they haven't changed. And I don't tell anyone! Only my mom, sister, and friend Jen know what they are.
I always think of the SATC episode, where the girls' friend "steals" Charlotte's baby name (Shayla) and Charlotte gets sooo pissed. I'd be the same way. Ha.
7I don't plan on having kids but I have names picked out anyway. I just love names. I wish my friends would let me name their kids.
8I did...until Nicole Richie stole it by naming her daughter Harlow before I could!! Hopefully by the time I start having kids it won't be too overexposed.
9my fiance and I picked out names just the other night! man, it was like pullin teeth! but we agreed on at least 4 diff names, so we're cool
that sucks loveritz, I know the feelin. I have 10 neices & nephews and it wouldn't be so bad that all 10 kids have cool names, but it HURTS when the middle-names are cool too! sucks to be the youngest in my family!
10I have had names for both sexes picked out since I was much younger, but I wouldn't use them just because.
I am a firm believer in looking at a child to figure out if a name will suit them before signing the BC.
11I don't have names picked out, but I certainly know what I like and what I don't like.
I'd never name my kid something a celebrity just named their kid, even if it was my favorite name of all time.
12I have a few that I like- but nothing certain. It's going to be several years before I have children, so I'm not adamantly in favor of a specific name yet.
13I've got a few I really like, and my boyfriend's got a few he really likes, but I think I'd wait to see my baby before naming it.
14I don't...but, surprisingly, my husband has had a girl name picked out since before we met.
15We had a boy and girl name picked out from the moment we met - he wanted a junior, I thought it was a great idea, so boy was taken care of. Then he had the name his sister would've had if his parents had ever had a girl, and really wanted to use that. We tweaked it a bit, but still plan to use it if we ever have a daughter.
Second son, we picked out his name a year before his was conceived. Took us 30 seconds. *lol*
This one, we never discussed names because we weren't planning on having another yet. But we chose one very early on. Then changed it about two months ago. Girl's name still stands.
16My mother died when I was 16, so I want to name my daughter after her.
17My older sister and her boyfriend of 9 months have some baby names picked out... but my husband and I, who have been married for 3 years and together for 8, have not ever discussed it.
18there were alot that i liked as i was younger..but they have changed since ive gotten older... but there are a few that have remained regardless of how old i was. same with boys names haha
19My bf and I have completely agreed on a girls name, however are at a loss to find a boys name that we like. Im happy though as the girls name is one I have loved since I first heard it and my bf loves it albeit a slight tweak with an added letter.
20I always think of names that I love but then end up forgetting them. I'll think of something good when the time
21comes.
I do but only for girls. If I have 2 girls I will name them Savannah and Alexis. I will use Rae for a middle name.
22I'm 18, but I already know what I want to name my boy(S) (if I ever have any). Its not that I've planned it its just that they are names
23I've always loved even when I was younger.
I want to name my son Andrés or Diego.
And I'll probably name a girl Mia.
my bf and i once decided that if we had a girl, I would name her my middle name, and if a boy, his middle name. And every once in a while if either of us hears or thinks of a good name, we'll text it to each other. just the name and a question mark. and the other person will say yay or nay. lol
24i have a lot that i love, and hopefully some of them will work for my babies!
25I have full names thought up... 1st and middle... waiting on the man to provide the last.... and I would share them... but I dont trust y'all.... haha but believe me they are names you will read in history books... they are powerful and profound...
26I have a few girl names in mind but they all seem to begin with the letter A...hmmm. And only one boy name in mind.
27Nope, don't want children.
28I have my names picked out and don't tell a soul. But even still I would want the dad's .02 on choosing on a name not just "letting me" use my name you know? I'd want it to be a JOINT effort.
29had mine all picked out and then dh hated them, so there was that idea. a friend was going to name her baby riley. then she ended up marrying a man named Brylie; Riley Brylie? you never can say how it will turn out.
30I had a few names I really like, but that was before I met my fiancé. Now I don't really know what to do. He's Finnish and I'm French Canadian, so we'll have to find names that fit with his last name. Not easy.
31I've had names picked out forever!
I *LOVE* Victoria, Elizabeth, Samantha, and Alexandria ... but alas my boyfriend doesn't like any of them. Also, his last name starts with a "D" so her initials could possibly be "VD" or "ED".
One night my boyfriend and I stayed up and talked about baby names. We agreed immediately on a boy's name "Jordan Dean" - Jordan was what I was supposed to be name (if I was a boy) and Dean is my b/f's middle name (it's a family tradition).
We literally went through the whole
alphabet letter by letter starting at "A" and told our favorite names for that letter. We didn't agree until "R".
We finally agreed on Robyn. Her middle name will be my middle name (Dawn) and she will have a 2nd middle name "Emerson" after my grandma's
mom's maiden name.
As for girl's names... we couldn't agree at all
So Jordan Dean and Robyn Dawn Emerson.
32I'm almost positive that I do not want to have children but just in case I do have names picked out. For boys I have Jared Lucas and Mitchell Patrick and for Boys Malerie Patricia and Janelle Leah. My husbands are MPM and mine are JLM so I want to do that for our kids. My Grandmothers name was Patricia so Patricia for a girl and Patrick for a boy middle name.
33Chloe, Imogen, Niamh, Zandile, Lerato, Zaida and Thandiwe for my daughters and Mugadzi9which is my dad's name for a son. i'm not really interested in boys' names. I'd love to have all daughters.
34I have my baby names picked out even though I don't know if I'm going to have children. They are really pretty but unique.
35Ruby Winter Cyrus for my little girl and River Riley for my boy. I also like the name Dawn ")
36I've always loved Lorelai, but my boyfriend hates it on the grounds that people will think she's named after Gilmore Girls. Ummm, noooo...it's from the Styx song! But he won't listen.
I never think of by names, but the boyfriend wants to name his first born son after himself. Also our moms have the same first name, so we've considered that for a girl.
37*boy names. Oops.
38I want all boys but I've had more fun picking out girl's names
39I have a few girls names picked out that I love and if we have a boy he will be a Jr. or i guess technically a III.
40I have 2 girls and 1 boys name pick out. There are others I really like but I have every intention of using those 3 names first.
41Mine are combinations of his & my family names, so they really haven't changed through the years.
42The only name that we have for sure is the middle name if it's a girl: Kathleen. It's my middle name and my mother and mother-in-law's first names, respectively. Otherwise, we're still arguing.
But I have what I like written down!
43I have names that I like, but I've never shared them with my boyfriend. There is a good chance that they'd be vetoed. Though if it were up to him, our children would be named Rambo, Bruce Wayne, and Conan-the-Barbarian.
44Actually, our hypothetical twins would be Bruce Wayne and Batman.
kimba - I always tell my husband I want to name a son Bruce Wayne!
45Other: We don't want kids...but I do have names for my future cats picked out!
46You know, I can't name a baby until I know them. With both my kids, I didn't settle on a name until the 7th or 8th month of pregnancy - when I'd started to get an idea of personality based on how they were in utero. And even then, it wasn't for sure until I actually met them.
47The names I love really go against the family tradition - we have thirds and fourths, and always give the girls their grandmother's names for middle names. I've just decided I won't worry about it until I'm actually expecting.
48I have names picked out, but I don't want children. So I guess I've picked out future puppy names...?
49Some of the names I liked best when I was younger aren't good anymore because I've met unpleasant people with those names. I understand now what my parents meant when they said they picked my name partially because they didn't know anyone with it.
I still have a few unspoiled names in mind though...
