It's almost impossible to keep track of everyone vying for the job of president of the United States. It definitely has its perks, including an amazing airplane and hearing "Hail to the Chief" every time you walk into a room. But I'm still not convinced that I would give up privacy, free time, and peace of mind for a job of endless stress, momentous responsibility, and constant danger.
So what about you? Would you suck it up to be the "leader of the free world"?

Its going to be a dirty cleanup job in 2009.
1Indeed. I'd be too lazy!
2I don't like having a "career." Although, if I were running for office, I wouldn't have much of a dirty past for opponents to sling. No alcohol, drugs or ciggies for me. Then I could push that damn bill to force government establishments to buy meat from non-factory farm sources proven to use humane slaughter methods... Hmm.
3Nope, as a high-profile public figure, I would lose privacy, which I value.
4Never!
5Hell No..IF I wanted to get my freak on in the oval office, I would not want anyone to find out..
6I really don't think so.
7I think it would be kinda fun!
8Noooo way! I want to have a normalish life, thanks!
9I like my down time, thank you. I'd hate having to be at work 24/7. Also, I'm holding my breath for a president who is smarter than I am.
10I'd do it. But this could just be the control freak in me speaking up
LOL @ insanitypepper.
11YES, i'd LOVE to be president. i know i could make a difference in the lives of Americans and HELP the people have better lives. at least that's my hope. Politics has a way of corrupting even the most idealistic and honest people...
I live just outside of DC so all my local news is national and international news. i've grown up with the center of power in my backyard and i love it!
12It definitely takes a certain personality for the job. I know that I don't have the qualities that the presidency would require. What's more, I love to work on my own, I covet a long night's sleep, and I hate public speaking.
13hey it's not all grind, "w" takes naps, lol. i think no. i use to want to be a senator (i know, ??) but then i worked in politics and saw how they change as they move up, become so removed from what they started out working for and towards, and how they start believing their own press. i prefer to see politicians from farther away
14Never! I have a lot of ideas that I'd like to see happen, but I think it would be (or SHOULD BE) a very stressful job. And I especially wouldn't want to do it now. I agree that it's going to be an extra big job for our next president.
15i would do it, i mean seriously if you think about it, you work for 4-8 years straight, write a book and give a few speeches and you never have to work again and if your lucky you make a real change in the greatest country in the world, sounds good to me!
16no way - too stressful.
17Hell No
i could never handle the pressure
or the publicity
and i hate that song 'hail to the cheif'
plus i'd be way to lazy and way to 'immature' for the job
the pay is good but whats the point if ur never gonna get a chance just to go to the beach or hang with friends without all those ppl and cameras staaring at you
'this just in our president is at the beach'....weird
18I'd love to be a president, that would be awesome! ...but it's just not for me, so no thanks!
19No way.
20I wouldn't want it. Whoever is elected president this year has a tough job ahead. He or she is going to have the Iraq war, a collapsing housing market, high gas prices, and a possible recession to deal with.
21I like privacy and sleep too much.
22I'd feel obligated as an American to fix all the problems our current president has created. I would be president to make sure that we get our rights back and our troops get to come home.
23I wouldn't be good at it. I have great ideas for what our country should do, but I am not the best leader. I think it takes a special kind of person to be a good president, and that special kind of person probably isn't even interested in the job.
24I'd do it... keep things in order =]
25No way, ever notice how quickly they age while in office?!
26I would only say Yes, because I feel that we've become very complacent and have all watched as our nation (once the leader of the free world) change in less than positive ways. Instead of being scared and angry with the way our health care system and social security and other issues have played out in the last years, I would like to do something about it!
27i couldn't do that! i think design is a stressful enough career to go into - there is so much criticism in that! but president - that would be an on going critique with people panned againist you. i'd end up crying in public and being stressed. no thanks, not the job for me!
28cool stuff! it'd be great to have
29No, thanks!
30I am way too gassy to be president, i could see the headlines now "president Caterpillargirl fouled up Air Force one and they had to have an emergency landing today" That and i giggle too much, i wouldnt have been able to say Putin without dying
31Nah that is ok, I will pass.
32No I would not want the responsibility and pressure. I'm a big people pleaser and hate saying No, I would be horrible for that job! So many peoples lives you hold in your hands.
33I enjoy napping way too much to have this job. Wait a minute...well I guess, do this job well.
34Haha, no. Presidents always look 10 years older after they get office.
35Look at the presidents before and after their presidency, it ages them too much, no thank you!
36Haha deliciousrevenge, we were thinking the same thought
37I'm gunning for Surgeon General.
38No way! As much as the idea of it seems cool, I don't think I could handle all the stress.
39No matter what you do you can't please everyone. We know this just from everyday life. I definitely couldn't handle having my every move judged by everyone. Far too much pressure!
40absolutely; I would never want to go into combat, but I do want to help my country as much as possible otherwise.
Also, to any ladies who are over 35 who said yes, what are you waiting for?
41It would be fun for about 10 minutes. So - no thanks.
42@CaterpillarGirl: HAHA.
I am way too easily amused at everything, and I'm also pretty emotional, so my answer is No. I wouldn't and couldn't do it.
43I would love to be President. My political goals lead straight to D.C. and I do not wish to stop until I make it to the big job.
44Waaayyy too much responsibility.
45I agree with Bella. I'm a total control freak and I love bossing people around. Besides, I'm really good at solving everyone else's problems as well as my own. Sign me up! Miranda Moreno 2032! lol
46nope. would much rather be the chief of staff (i.e. Leo on West Wing, or well, CJ in Bartlett's 2nd term) and manage and make decisions. Who wants to give up privacy forever??
47The first thing I would do if I were President would be....to QUIT! I could never want to bear the weight of the world on my shoulders.
48"Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown"
49I'm not patient enough to handle all of the idiots I'd encounter. They already drive me crazy and they're not my responsibility.
