Al-Qaeda spokesman Mustafa Abu Al-Yazid claimed responsibility for the crime [1], describing Bhutto as "the most precious American asset." The Pakistani government stated that it had proof that al-Qaeda was behind the assassination.
This possibility is almost too scary to process. I'm trying to focus instead on what an inspiration Bhutto was [2], and I hope that the beliefs she was martyred for triumph.
