Being the sentimental person that I am, I'm a total saver when it comes to anything special. I collect business cards of restaurants I've been to with friends, napkins from weddings, menus from great first dates, and place cards form dinner parties I've attended.
I savor love letters, old photos of my parents when they were my age, and I even have a piece of the ratty, old blanket I used to snuggle with as a child. I have my very first driver's license, my high-school report cards, and a postcard from my third-grade pen pal.
I also have things that don't fit in the scrapbook like my grandmother's engagement ring, the first hat I ever knit, shells from the beach, and a mix tape my first boyfriend ever made. All these things help to tell stories and spark old memories I want to hold onto forever.
So I was wondering if you were sentimental, too? If so, what kinds of things have you held onto?

i am so sentimental it gets in the way sometimes. my list would go on and on. but what i get really sentimental about is memories.
1im a sentimental sap
lol
2I'm sentimental AND a pack rat. I never get rid of anything!
3I am sentimental but most of it is in pictures. I take pictures of everything.
4I'm sentimental when it comes to my writing. I don't have "special" pictures however, I keep diaries and short stories that i keep private. If someone were to throw it away.. Dear God don't let 'em.
5I am a sentimental freak.
I have an old barnum and bailey circus trunk full of "stuff" i went through it just the other day, and I have scrapbooks, folders, full of memories.
*i saved a wal mart reciept for one pack of gum from 1991 because every time i look at it i remember that my best friend locked herself in the bathroom and i almost peed myself with laughter.
*i saved a piece of bark shaped like a fish from a NC trip, and we were playing hide and seek, it was sitting right where i was hiding and i had to show everyone how cool it was.
*I have saved every single letter, cabin list, picture, painting, arts and crafts item, awards ..whatever from all my years as a camp counselor.
*I still have every skull that we found as children behind our house in illinois. I have put them into shadow boxes with labels in thier latin names (cats, beaver, weasel, fox, deer) and everytime i look at them, I can see us all in those woods, blonde hair, mittens, thinking how cool it all was.
6I have my blankie STILL! It came to Europe with me, and moved out with me, and every now and then I sleep with it when I am a little lonely
I have a ton of pictures too
7I knew I was sentimental, that's something I could have never denied- but when I started packing up my things when my honey and I moved, I realized just how sentimental I really was. I have held on to SO MUCH STUFF! I have photos, silverware, craft projects, baby clothes, my grandmother's hand-knitted afghans, dolls, etc. out the yin-yang. It took me forever to pack because I had to explain WHY I was holding on to some of this stuff to my honey. And, no, even at his request, I didn't throw any of it away. It's all packed away nice and neat in my storage shed until I decide I want to pull it all out and reminesce again.
8I'm very sentimental about greeting cards and love notes and even silly little things jotted down....most of my family is gone so I cherish the old crossword puzzle my dad started and never finished...the love notes from my hubby.....birthday cards from my mom.......a list of things to do that my grandma wrote.......cards my son made for me when he was small..... Autograph books from elementary school from 34 yrs. ago and my high school year book from 30 yrs. ago. Those kinds of things.
9Smells make me very sentimental too. My dad's cologne...mom's perfume.....nana's cough drops.....the smell of a box of crayola crayons......the smell of new vinyl reminds me to this day of the new babydoll I'd get for Christmas....I'd take her back to bed with me and smell her hair and head....so comforting and happy!
I can see saving a blanket, pictures, or maybe a great love letter, but anything beyond that just seems like unneeded clutter to me.
I have never really been sentimental, but I am not a stone either. I guess I am most sentimental with my mom or sisters, certain people who I know won't make me feel vulnerable.
10I am very very sentimental. I keep all my writing big and small. I refuse to throw away anything that brings back a smile to my face. My yearbooks, trinkets from my friends, a tom and jerry bedsheet my grandmother gave me when I was a kid, a blue's clue pillow case from my sister, the list goes on and on.
I am the ultimate pack rat and I am not ashamed.
11Yep! I have a handmade birthday card that my two best friends in 5th grade (i'm still bff with one, the other I lost contact with) gave to me; I have my old 4th or 5th grade school concert event booklet that lists the names of everyone that performed that night 9(including me and my bff.) I have tons of old family photos; I take plenty of photos at family events. I have almost ever card that people sent on my birthday; I have many items that mean everything to me.
12^ p.s. I don't know how the number 9 got typed before the word 'including', it shouldn't be there.
13I went to my best college friend's wedding a few years ago and my grandmother's wedding ring fell out of an old suitcase I had brought with me. I took that as an omen for my friend's happy marriage and still wear the ring on my pinky. Grandma had small hands.
14I am overly sentimental-have both kids schoolwork since pre-k/kindergarten, movie ticket stubs, greeting cards to and from the kids, flight ticket stubs, pictures galore...I probably could go and on.. I collected Chrisitmas ornaments from Hallmark for the kids (ex-My First Christmas 1994/1998) and right after the holidays, I took them off the tree to put away until the next year and my father-in-law mistook the bag for garbage and threw it out-I did not realize until after the garbage was already collected-I cried so hard-knowing that they could never be replaced.
15that's really sweet gooniette
16How ironic! It was just last night when I dug up boxes from my parent's garage and took a walk--a VERY long walk--down memory lane. Goodness, it's amazing the things I've kept!!!
Aside from all the obvious sentimental things (letters, pictures, receipts, cards, etc.) were a few shocking and completely random items including an almond joy wrapper kept in a ziploc bag, a board game trinket, a collection of 25-cent machine rings, and an empty condom box!!!!
...all of which brought back some very interesting memories!!!
17only with cards and pictures. i think my mom has my old report cards too.
18I don't collect nor do I keep stuff, but my boyfriend is an avid scrapbooker...weird, huh? He's gettin me into it (well, he MAKES me do it with him) and it's actually pretty fun. It makes me feel old, lol.
19I keep photos, movie tickets, and concert and play programs. I used to keep cards, but I recently got rid of almost all of them. I also keep almost all of my academic stuff, such as papers, tests, and notes.
20WELL I AM KNOWN FOR KEEPING EVERYTHING DEAR TO ME
I HAVE MY FIRST MOVIE STUB UP TIL NOW!
100'S. NAPKINS,LETTER,CARDS,PROGRAMS,WRAPPERS,
ROSES..(FROM YEARS AGO),SCHOOL WORK,MIXTAPES,FLYERS,
BALLONS,TEDDY BEARS,SCHOOL SHIRTS,BEEDS,DRAWLINGS
BOTTLE TOP TO FIRST LIQOUR,TOYS FROM CHILDHOOD,I EVEN
LEAVE EVERY PERFUME BOTTLE WITH A LIL BIT TO GO
BACK AND SMELL FOR MEMORIES WHEN I WORE IT(NO JOKE)..
AND YES I ALWAYS LOOK THROUGH IT FROM TIME
TO TIME. IT NEVER JUST SITS THERE. I HAVE MOST OF
IT SPREAD THROUGH OUT MY BED. I CANT WAIT FOR
MY DAUGHTER TO BEGIN MAKING THINGS SO I CAN HANGS THEM
UP AS WELL.
THE BEST THING I GUY CAN SAY TO ME IS:
21A MEMORY OR KEEP SOMTHING OLD FOR MEMEORY.
I THING THAT IS SOO ROMANTIC
WOW SOO MANY TYPE-OS UP THERE
22SORRY..I TYPE FAST.
LOL....
There are two overstuffed, old victoria secret bags in my closet that have become my "memory bags". There's ratty old notes passed to me in high school, little plastic ice cream spoons, broken jewelry, chopstick wrappers, etc.. a lot of things that might look like junk to any other person, but unlock precious memories I otherwise wouldn't remember without. I seem to hold onto more than the average person. Sometimes I worry about myself with how sentimental I am with things, but then I don't care much as they keep me happy.
23I throw out EVERYTHING
I blame my mom... she's like that
too.
24I do have a picture album and stuff, I think everybody does.
One thing for sure though, every time I go to a concert of a band i really love, i always get a t-shirt! My fave is my pink tee from The Pixies
I LOVE LOVE LOVE PICTURES! NEW, OLD...WHATEVER! I THINK IT IS AMAZING HOW WE CAN JUST PAUSE THAT ONE MOMENT IN OUR LIFE...I HAVE PICTURES ALL OVER THE PLACE! =] BUT I DO KEEP OLD NOTES AND LITTLE THINGS LIKE THAT ALSO
25I am very sentimental with my memories, but I do NOT hold on to things from people just because they were theirs. Those people will always be around, and hanging onto their possessions won't bring them back to bodily form.
