Job: United States Secretary of Education
What does that mean? She heads the department in charge of setting federal financial aid policies, as well as watching and handing out that money, researching America's schools, bringing attention to national education issues, and making sure everyone has equal access to education.
What's her background? Prior to this job, she helped to create the No Child Left Behind Act, and served as Senior Adviser to then Governor George W. Bush, specializing in education.
Did you know? The Department of Education was created by Jimmy Carter in 1980.

and we all know that No Child has been SOOOO successful in our schools.
no better way to get kids to learn than making them memorize answers to tests so your school can continue to receive funding!
1Haha nicachica!
The Department of Education is such a failure. It's adding to our gazillion dollar deficit.
Education should be run by the states. Why did we ditch that plan??
2education is still ran by the states but the federal government is still involved, no child left behind was (a rather stupid) way for the federal government to have a consequences vs rewards system for schools that made the us look good.
3funny, i was reading a certificate that was around my house and her name was on it...
4I think it would be really interesting to be the Secretary of Education, I wonder how someone gets into that...hmm.
5um if you want to be apart of this adminstration, it helps to have gone to college with the president or be one of his drinking buddies
6I do believe she was on Celebrity Jeopardy about a year ago.
I also think she totally lost.
Way to go, education!
7No Child Left Behind, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it created to mirror the "great" education policies in Texas when he was governor? Not the best policies to expand, seeing how it's against the law to hold a child back a grade more than once. Yay for Bush cronies.
8No Child Left Behind was such a complete and utter failure! Not only did it create incentives for students to only study to the test, it cut funding to many after school programs.
Most of the people who started No Child Left Behind are now working for consulting companies making millions, while our kids stew in sub par facilities, not learning the skills they need to become successful.
