Hillary's policy role in her husband's presidency was controversial 15 years ago. If Hillary wins a term of her own this year, does the fact that the new Clinton "First Spouse" has already served as president pave the way toward accepting a little marital collaboration? Should Bill get another crack at influence in the White House?

GUESS
That picture is just scary! All the pictures of her in the mdeia lately have that same possessed look. I feel for her though I'm not even close to a supporter.
1How can we tell someone they aren't allowed to take advice from someone who's opinion they trust? I think we have seen enough of Hillary to know that she will make up her *own mind* about things, but if she wants to discuss things with her husband, for goodness sake, that's their business. When did we stop allowing our leaders to be human?
2Well, she was on many a committee when he was President, so why not ? I think that she should be allowed to appoint her own advisers like any other president.
3Bill, isnt going to be helping out in the states, he has his eye on furthering his international standings, he couldnt care less about the USA.
4we can't really know, but, they are married, so they talk. he's going to influence her unless she doesn't see him for the next 4 years. it's how marriage/dating/relationships are
5A lot of people, including me, were upset at how he conducted her campaign in South Carolina, and that she let it go on. It's not clear that he can "take direction" since he's been president already and may think that he knows best. This is a very sensitive point in her campaign because we want to know that we are electing Hillary and not Bill, and where she makes mistakes through involving Bill she will take the heat for the lack of judgement, not Bill.
Take a look at the editorial by Frank Rich "Billary" in the New York Times Sunday, January 26th for a view about how folks are concerned with this "2-fer".
6I love Bill, so I don't mind. (He was a million times more competent than Bush is!) But I imagine a lot of people who aren't supporters of the Clintons will have a b*tch fit. And people who do support her are justified in wanting her to do the job on her own, because she alone will be the president.
7I can't imagine that it will hurt that he will have those years of experience. I think she will be fighting to maintain her independence, though, and prove herself.
8I don't think she will be President. She might get the democrat nom, but saying she could "garnish wages" and use automatic enrollment for her health care plan will not get the majority of Americans to vote for her.
If she is the nominee, I believe the Republicans will win in November.
9Why would you choose such an unflattering photo to go along with this poll?
10LOL@ Katkatherine! It would be difficult to keep them apart. But I do think it will be okay if Bill helps out. Hillary helped out while he was in office, so why not? And I do think Clinton is a good guy and was a good president. It's just a shame how the whole Lewinsky thing is seen as more important than all the good things that he did when in office.
11In any case it's pretty ridiculous to say that Clinton/Obama is the dream ticket.. I mean, Bill is #2 so they sort of need a lame duck VP. I don't want Obama to be 'conditioned" in Washington for 8 years;
I say he is ready now!
12The republicans will lose this November, especially if they nominate McCaine who has publicly admitted that THE ECONOMY IS NOT HIS AREA OF EXPERTISE. In this climate, can we really afford to elect someone who does not know what they are doing?!!
13I am with Jill, if Hilary is elected for the Democratic nominee, then the Republican's will win. I used to think it was the opposite, but I was wrong. People either love her or despise her. And if McCaine has a Conservative VP, then he will not lose. I will put money on it.
14And for the expertise part. It is not like Obama or Hilary have and expertise in running an army during war time. And Obama's lack of experience may come and bite him in the ass if he is the nominee.
15i agree with jillness as well. I just don't think she will become President.
16Its interesting how every single candidate running for the white house seems to have a flaw or something holding them back. For example...he's too old, he's too mormon, he lacks experience, she scares me (lol) etc...
It is a shame that this site has become so obviously a Hillary basher and it is suppose to represent women. I would say if you are really a concerned citizen and care about women's issues that you read this article.

17i think that people really need to remember that she's running on her own means - and that it's just an added bonus that he's her husband. she's going to have her own advisors and people to help her just like EVERY other past president. i think that sometimes couples discuss things and she has the lucky position to have someone who has experience in what she's going to be dealing with.
18Kay I don't vote for people based on Sex, race or age. I don't see her as a representative for all women. Maybe she represents you, but certainly not me.
19Amen, Cine!! Couldn't have said that better myself!
20We are hated the world over under Bush. Bill Clinton already has positive relationships with world leaders. Not to mention the man already took a flailing economy and flipped it around. I love Hillary and think she's smarter than Bill, but his charisma and experience could surely help out.
