What is it with my friends and dating? A girlfriend called me from a restaurant this week, hysterical, because her date stood her up! Now being a few minutes late is one thing, but since no one leaves their house without either a cell phone, BlackBerry or iPhone, there is simply no excuse for leaving someone in the lurch. Thankfully, I have never been put in that position, but I am sure my friend isn't alone here. Ladies, what I want to know is, have you ever been stood up?

No. But in my days of dating, we also didn't have cell phones, Blackberries, etc. Still, I can't recall ever having been stood up.
1I've never been stood up, but last night at a beer/cheese tasting class, my lawyer husband was 2 hours late! Damn subpoenas, always making him do work!
2I've had dates been late, but I have never been stood up!
3I have never been stood up, but I did stand up a guy once. I felt horrible because we set our first date then he showed up to the movie theater in gym clothes, and not sexy gym clothes but like HS gym clothes with the sweats and everything. I freaked out and left the movies before he could recognize me. After I apologized, but didn't tell him the real reason for standing him up. Were friends now but its was the most cruel thing I ever did to any guy!
4Yes, but it wasn't terrible. The guy was a douchebag. And I wasn't embarrassed, just enraged at his lack of common decency and manners.
5When I was in HS, my boyfriend at the time stood me up on our one year anniversary. I sat at home waiting for him to pick me up all day and he never even called. What a winner, right? Thank God I finally got the confidence to dump him before I went to college.
6Never but I'd be soooo mad...
7I have never been stood up by a date, but I have done it to someone.
I had no cell phone, and I was unable to get there or get to a phone, honest! I also didn't really try to go somewhere with a phone so ...
8I was stood up by a guy that I was dating on my birthday. It was a Friday night and he told me what train he'd be on to meet him, and he wasn't on the train. I tried to call him but got voice mail, so I waited for the next train. And the next. I was a little surprised because I'd been seeing him for about 8 months, even though there had been one or two other odd incidents along the way. Anyway, he never called the rest of the weekend then had the audacity to call me first thing Monday morning. He said 'Hello'. I said 'Is everything alright?' He said yes. I asked 'Nobody died?' He said 'Nooooo.....' So I said 'Good. And goodbye.' He called all day everyday for about a week before he realized I wasn't going to talk to him. He finally turned up at my office. He was angry because a mutual friend had asked me: What did you get for your birthday? And I told him "I got stood up". So the boyfriend was ticked off that I was telling people that.
9Yeah, my friend set us up. After we had decided on a date/time, he told me that he would call right before and ask for directions to my house. Never happened.
10Marci, way to go! I would have done the same thing.
11Yes, I have! and I couldn't believe it.
Sad part was she was supposed to be one of my best friends!
and she did it more than once.
to make a long story short, we aren't friends anymore.
and she doesnt have many left HAHA
12Yeah, I had a habit of attracting quite a few losers in my younger days. Good thing that's over.
13Yes, I got stood up in 9th grade for my first high school dance! I cried in my room for hours. Then my older sister took me to see The Sixth Sense to make me feel better.
14Never been stood up, thank god! What a crappy feeling that would be.
15Late yes but never stood up.
16Never, but i'd be enraged if it happened to me.
17Yes, we were going to play paintball (haha
).....at the paintball place my aunt and
uncle owned and ran (SO embarrassing!!)...and I just sat there and waited forever and he never called or anything. This was in high school, so I found him the next Monday and asked what
happened and he made up some BS about family problems or something, so I didn't talk to him anymore ever again.
18No, but I've stood one too many people up
Not on purpose, though.
19Yes, by my boyfriend at the time. He did it many times. I finally broke it off with him, and when he was asking me why, that was one of the things I told him.
Also, by my good guy friend, but, for good reason. He was in the hospital because he passed out from his heart condition.
20no never happened to me
21i am very shy i would be really embarrassed if that happened
22Its happened to me more than once, sadly. A good friend of mine is a wiz at dating and she tells me that those who stand people up are just very inconsiderate! And you know what? its TRUE!!!
