my neighbors are such b*tches they pretended to not be home last yr but their cars were @ the garage . so they just turned off all their lights, since they didn't wanna hand out any candy to the children lol.
Of course you don't. Not everyone celebrates Halloween. And not everyone wants to split up so one parent stays home while the other one takes the kids Trick or Treating.
We've always been very strict about not going to houses without a porch light on, both when we were growing up and now that we have kids. That's the "code" for "We don't celebrate" or "We're
out of candy."
I agree-this is not something you should do every year. but dont be that house in my neighboorhood when I was little that everyone knew as the house where no one ever answers or give out
candy-we were practically scared of them b/c it was so odd. and off-putting. i
Aww.. I don't even LIKE kids, but I still would like them to come so that I could give them candy because I remember how fun it was! My condo building doesn't have any kids though.. I left a
bowl of candy outside my door when I went to dinner just in case, but no one took any : (
Since my kids allready eat candy every Saturday, 17. of May (national holiday), all through Christmas and New Year's eve PLUS birthdays, I tell them to ask for fruit when we go for
treats.
Even the old hags who refuse to give candy are totally melted by this, and occationally hand out candy bars just for the "aaaww!"-factor of my kids' health gesture..
I get that not everyone celebrates, some people are elderly, or ill, but to do this every year, makes you a Halloween scrooge!
Already this morning I have read about Popple Moms saying that hardly any houses in their neighbourhood had lights on. Thats really sad for the children.
It's one bloody night a year, you could at least have a light on for an hour or so.
I was dead tired when I got home yesterday, and we were totally unprepared with no candy/decorations so it was lights out for us this year. I usually love halloween and go all out with the
decorations but it just didn't come together this time. Hardly anyone else on our street gave out candy either
I want to know why the still come even after your lights are OUT!!! That is annoying. I only leave our light on for an hour.. that is about all the time the dogs can take. LOL!! They hate
Halloween.
u guys are such weenies.....give candy out to the kids! when u were all chubby lil mermaids on halloween, didn't u hate going to a house that DIDN'T give out candy? where's ur halloween
spirit? Candy is usually 50% off or MORE the day of halloween....what grouches!
I never went to houses that didn't give out candy - if the light isn't on, we don't go up to the door, period. Even if all the outside lights are on, but none inside, I don't go.
I don't think it's Scroogy or stingy to not celebrate certain holidays.
I was going around for a food drive last night, and someone turned out their lights right when we got to the door! And they had been standing in the living room window!
I understand turning out your lights if you don't want trick or treaters; or even turning out the lights once the cute little kids go through.
Last year we had a really big Halloween, we turned our house into a haunted house and gave out tons of candny! It was a lot of hard work and preperation for it all! And then the clean up took
almost a week and into the weekend. We also had to go to our neighbors annual Halloween block party! Well this year my boyfriend and I decided to skip the party and the trick or treaters and
just go out and have dinner see a scary movie last night for Halloween. I think it's fine to turn out your lights and not do the whole Halloween deal sometimes, I don't suggest you do it
every year though..unless you don't celebrate Halloween. I enjoy seeing the different little kids in the cute costumes and seeing their faces when they see how much candy I put in their bags!
i didn't go out and party - but apparently my dad did, but he said he left out a bowl of candy at the front door with a note that said "Take Two"...which just means, the first kid took it
all.
I had the cutest little girl come to my door last night! She was so excited to be dressed up that as soon as I opened the door she shouted "I'm a mermaid!!!" and flashed this huge cheesy
grin. Melted my heart! She totally got extra candy!

5I did this last year...but I live in apartment complex...So there is hardly any trick or treaters
6nothing wrong with that
7It sucks for the kids.
Only like 5 houses on the block give out candy.
We have to trick or treat for hours to get lots of loot!
We hand out goodie bags!
8We get too many kids because people are scrooges!
Or they don't celebrate...
Id do this specifically because i dont have any candy to give out.

What if you're Jehovah's Witness?
20Then I guess you're not allowed to celebrate anything.
Freakin touchy people.
