Love and attraction are two different things. I do believe in attraction at first sight. You can definitely see someone from across the room, like the way they look and want to meet them. After you meet, you could start dating which could eventually lead to falling in love, but I feel as if you can't truly love someone unless you know him or her.

So I'm curious. Do you believe in love at first sight? Do you think it's possible to see Mr. or Mrs. Right from afar and just know instantly that they're "the one"?

Yes - I think you can see someone from across the room, look into their eyes, and immediatly like them
1You ahve to attracted to them anyways to go over and talk to someone in the first place...
Seeing as i cant tell all of someone's bad traits from just looking at him, im going to say no on that.
2Yes i do believe in love at first site. I know it's corny but i think i loved my husband from the minute i saw him! It's 13 years later and i love him more every day!
3Yes! I do!
The first time I saw my boyfriend was on webcam. A friend of ours thought we'd get along great (we have the same passions and interests) and so we started IM'ing. That night we did a webcam, and he was so incredibly creative and funny, doing crazy light shows with balls of fire and music (!!), I was entranced. By the end of the evening, I thought that was it, that was the man I was going to marry. Only problem was, he was in Europe, and I was in NY.
It took him another 15 months to come to the US to visit me for the first time, and I ended up moving to France to be with him six months ago. We're about to celebrate our 2 years together, and I know he is going to be the father of my children.
That first night, there was just something so OBVIOUS about us, something so incredibly complete and good and beyond ourselves - that it kept us going for 15 months witout laying real eyes on the real each others. But damn! It was worth it...
4Nope.
I believe people confuse attraction and even connection with love.
5yes. when i met mike the first impression was so strong, i felt an immediate connection to him. it's been almost 4 years...
sometimes you just know
6i do believe in love at first sight (romantic in me) even though me and my boyf of 4 years got together the second time we meet.
7i think its something like intution but bigger
Yep.
I knew the instant I saw my husband that he was the man I would marry.
The strange thing? Before I met my husband, I never even wanted to get married.
8Yup.
9No. Not actual true deep love that makes a marriage work. You could grow to that and have a strong attraction at first sight. But love upon seeing a handsome man, illusive and unlikely.
10I believe that you can feel an immediate attraction to someone and it usually leads to love.
11I would say no...but I've had it happen to me. About 6 years ago, I saw a guy from across the room at a party and honestly couldn't breathe for a minute...we ended up dating for 3 1/2 years. The timing was all wrong, though, so it didn't last. But I fell in love with him the SECOND I saw him.
As a side note, I love my current bf more than I ever loved him, though
12I didn't, until it happened to me. So now, I do.
13no, i think love is such a deep thing you can get first attraction but love at first sight nah. that said im sure it happens but probably very very very rarely
14w Nope..it's purely an attraction. How can you possibly love someone you know absolutely nothing about? Love is knowing things and still loving them.
15No, I don't. There's no such thing. Some people are attracted to each other when they first see the other person and if they end up married, they say it was love at first sight. I don't believe that, you know nothing about that person until you get to know one another.
16I think you can figure a LOT out at first meeting, but it always seems to me that hindsight is resposible for a lot of the "love at first sight." But...I also think that your body is perhaps more in tune with a compatible mate than you might be consciously and it might give off the "ding ding ding, we got a good one here!" signals to you ! who knows. all i know is that from the night i met my boyfriend until this very day, the most time we have spent apart is three days.
17I definitely got a special feeling when I first met my now fiance. I remember not wanting to end the night, and feeling like I needed to hold on to this guy.
18I believe in chemistry at first sight, but not love. I think love is something that grows, but chemistry is what pulls you in and makes you want to spend time with that person. And spending time is what ignites the sparks and love grows from there.
19I have definitely had the experience where I saw someone and my mouth just dropped and I knew he was it. The one.
We dated for a year and a half, but it didn't work out because in addition to being "the one", he had a slew of bad character traits that I couldn't have lived with for the rest of my life.
I think that people who have that instant "love at first sight" feeling, sometimes fall in "true" love afterwards. I think those couples are just plain lucky.
I think that in other cases, like mine, that attraction and being "in love" fizzles when reality sets in.
So I guess my take on it would be that I believe you can see someone and know you will marry then. But I think if you actually end up marrying them, it's more like luck than excellent foresight.
20sure why not?
21My mom claims she saw my father in a club and told her friend "I'm going to marry that man", i'm sure it's because he was hot
22Aww, sweet story Karlotta!
Butttt... in the end, I do agree with kendalheart. I just don't see how it can be love when you've JUST met. I suppose it depends on your definition of love, though.
23Maybe. Just not for me. I didn't really like my husband when I first met him --- but then we fell in love and here we are!
24Puppy love or lust at first sight, but not "let's go get married and make it last for the rest of our lives" love. That takes time and getting to know the person.
25I do not believe in love at first sight, but not in a cynical manner. I just don't think it's possible to really look at someone and say I will seriously spend my life with him/her and have children and grow old.
That kind of love and admiration takes a while to grow. I am more in love and serious with my boyfriend of 4 years than I was when I met him because we have been through so much and have stuck by each other.
I do believe in lust or an attraction when you first look at someone though. That is what drew me to my current boyfriend, ha!
26No. I think it's lust at first sight.
Although I do think you can have a very strong "hunch" or feeling about someone, but love takes time to develop.
27Yes!!!
And unless you've experienced it, you won't believe.
Obviously I experienced it. I knew the minute I saw my husband that he was "the one". I can't even describe the feeling I had...and no, it wasn't just lust. It felt like a life-changing moment and it was.
I can't even explain it...it would have to happen to you to know what I mean.
28No, i believe that Lust can happen, and attraction. But not Love. Impossible.
29i believe in lust at first sight...i def. experienced that with my boyfriend
but it
took over a year and a half of being just friends for me to realize i was crazy in love with him.
30Of course I believe. It happened to me.
31I thought this was called "Beer Goggles?"
32Of course I believe! The first time I laid eyes on my bf, a little voice in my head said, "That's who you're gonna marry." At that point, I was in a relationship, in fact, my current bf was standing next to me, so imagine that! And, he was just getting out of a long term relationship. Five motnhs later, we were together, and have been ever since.
33Congratulations to all those who said they experienced love at first site. I thought love entailed a deep understanding and caring for a person. How amazing that you were able to just know you found that in a mere moment.
34I believe in LUST at first sight, that is it.
35Lippy I agree...it's called LUST at first sight...dear/true love takes time to develop
36I believe in immediate attraction and maybe in an immediate feeling that one COULD fall in love with another person. But I don't think one can see someone from across the room and be in love.
You don't see someone across the room and immediately know that you love someone in a best friend-way. Why should you know you're in love in the romantic way? Real love, of any kind, takes time to develop. It doesn't just fall out of the sky and hit you on the head.
To be completely fair, I've experienced something similar to "love at first sight". I looked across the room, saw my boyfriend and went "I'd date that". However, it was not a case of our eyes meeting across the room so much as me noticing his bum across the room.
37Lust at first sight. Love takes more time.
38I believe it cuz I've experienced it! The first time I saw my current bf I was TOTALLY in LOVE with him. This was back in the day when he had a gf though, and I didn't think I would EVER have a chance with him cuz he was just sooooo hott and I was completely the opposite of the types of girls I saw him dating...so I thought that kinda sucked for me, but I still was in love with him (he knew I liked him but not that I LOVED him) and we stayed friends. A couple years later after we had been in touch off and on, we decided to go out and see a movie and catch up....he had broken up with his gf a couple months prior and had been hanging out with his boys n'stuff...so it was really random that he called me up to hang out...but I went and when I saw him again, all those feelings of love were STILL THERE..I knew he was THE ONE since those feelings never went away even when I didn't see him for a couple years, and when we started hanging out again they just grew stronger! =D and we're still together and going strong now^^ 3 years later
ahhh, TRUE love at first sight is a great feeling.
39No, I don't. Unless it applies to shoes.
I'm not sure what the phrase "at first sight" means, though. It seems like it means different things to different people. Someone up there said "my first impression", which I can understand more than just "the first glimpse I caught of him/her". It took me a couple of hours to realize that my boyfriend was the most amazing person I'd ever met, but that realization didn't happen the very first second I saw him.
40YES! YES! YES!
Have you ever met someone and felt like you've know them your whole life?
That is how it was with my current boyfriend - the moment we met i could have sworn we were meant for eachother. We stayed up all night talking and couldent believe the connection we had. Something in my heart just knew when i looked into his eyes. It sounds so corny but it is true. We have been together for 3 years now and it just keeps getting better.
I never believed in fate until i met him. Know i know ...
41I believe that started loving my boyfriend the second I laid eyes on him, but I'm not sure if it was "love at first sight." There was just this crazy connection that, over the past two years, has developed into love. Some people just have the instant effect on you, but love, the real kind, takes time.
42I believe that anything is possible. I agree that LUST at first sight is more confused with love at first sight. I think that love at first sight is only in the movies but I have heard it has happened. In the real world, to really be in love and feel loved it takes time (as does everything).
43I used to believe in love at first sight but I found "the one", or at least the one I think/hope is "the one", without it so... who knows? I guess it just works for some and not for others.
44Not love, but certainly a spark that could eventually lead to love (or not).
45no. maybe lust. but not love
lol "No, I don't. Unless it applies to shoes."
46true.
I have mixed feelings about this! I've always been kind of cynical when it comes to "love at first sight"...but my current boyfriend and I met on a blind date! We had talked on the phone for about a week before meeting. It was a very strange feeling...a little awkward at times, but something just "clicked." I didn't want our first date to end! And every time I look at him I get that same feeling all over again...butterflies.
47Absolutely not.
48Love is based in a foundation of trust.
i think love takes time so no i don't believe in love at first sight at least not yet anyways..
49also i hate that pick up line where the guy goes do you believe in love at first sight or should i walk by again? It was funny the 1st few times but now its just plain annoying
