Just look at these bracelets. They aren't pretty, in fact, they're a little ridiculous. So why is this gorgeous supermodel, Elle Macpherson wearing them?
How about the skinny jean or black nail polish fads? For those of us who aren't goth, are we trying to make a statement by expressing our individuality or are we just jumping on the bandwagon to make ourselves feel like we fit in?

Trends are fun. Some trends are hideous, and should not be followed. While some trends are cute, they may not appropriate for everyone. It is good to know what your style is, and what works for you. I don't think everyone should follow every trend. I have never followed every trend because, like I mentioned, some are hideous, or not appropriate me.
1I have my own style. I don't usually follow trends (but if I did, in my school, that would make me be different and stand out) I sometimes follow trends for fun, but the whole thing is supposed to be "whatever, do what you want and are comfortable with" not "Ooh, I'm trendy, I'm great"
2I think everyone follows a few trends in their lifetime. But doing it constantly is definitely a sign of craving acceptance. That's why kids have to have the latest clothes in school, why a lot of older people simply HAVE to own clothes by Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger and not Walmart. Hell, I'm guilty of it. I've got my super-duper Hilfiger boot-cut lowriders and my leather boots and trendy handbags. We all do it.
Though I must say that I was into my beloved aviator shades long before they became trendy. Nowadays they ARE the latest trend but I won't be giving them up when/if the trend runs its course.

4trends are okay but if someone over does it and goes from white to black or black to white without warning in one day, that's kinda dorky. I have alot of nice stuff, but I'll have to ask my niece if I'm trendy cause I'm not real sure ;D
5First, I will not be sporting black nail polish (been there already). Secondly, I've never worn a ton of cheap bracelets in my life, and never will. Like, I mentioned in my above comment, you have to be able to distinguish the truly hideous trends, from the pretty one's. Also, they have to be appropriate for your type of style.
6Sorry. Some trends DO hurt people.
