There are so many forms of birth control out there that it can make your head spin. Everyone has different needs, so the same choice may not work for all women.
You may be on the Pill to help alleviate painful periods or cysts. Or you may be using the NuvaRing because you can't remember to take the Pill. Hormones may not be right for you because you're worried about STIs or because you hate the annoying side effects, so you may be relying on condoms. If you don't want to have to think about your birth control, maybe you're loving the Shot or the Implant.

So tell me, what kind of birth control are you on?

pill but thinking about the nuvaring...
1Use the pill and condoms just for extra protection (from pregnancy and STIs).
2On the Pill since I was 16 or 17 years old. Yup.
3getting an IUD changed my life. none of the hormonal side effects and i only have to think about it once every 5 years. it is just as effective as the pill though like the pill you still need condoms to protect from STDs. (and since i got it my period lasts literally less than a day)
4I'm on the pill...since I was 16!
5Natural Family Planning...wasn't on the list
6I used to be on the pill until recently when I finished school and was cut off my parent's drug insurance. I'll be getting back on it when I finish my probation period at work in another 2 months.
7pill and condoms
8I take the pill.
9Patch to different kinds of pills. I'm on Yaz right now! :]
10just got off the pill after having been on it for almost 9 consecutive years. i'm tired of the hormones...
11now we're using condoms and i'm considering an iud.
Other - Natural Family Planning. It is a valid form of birth control, you know.
12I cant ever remember to take the Pill and it makes me nauseas and I actually throw up shortly after taking it... I've tried many different kinds but can't find one that works for my body
13Pill and condoms.
14The pill. I started taking it when I was 19 until 22. Broke up with my ex and had no need for it. I just got back on it before I got married, I was suppose to have my period on my wedding day (I DON'T THINK SO...didn't matter cause my husband got so drunk that he puked, not so romantic), but before that my husband and I were stupid and not careful. Thank goodness no accidents. But now that I'm married, all I can think about is having a baby and I want to go off it, but we are going to be waiting a couple more years for kids.
15I know sex is supposed to be super-great and all...and I'm sure after I have it I'll agree...but there's something to be said for the peace of mind that comes from knowing there's no way in hell I can be pregnant, without having to take a pill or change a patch or get a foreign object implanted in my body or worry about the condom breaking.
I have the rest of my life to worry about sex and birth control. I'm kind of enjoying my abstinence right now. Is that weird?
16the pill.
17None! That's not an option, either. We're trying to get pregnant, though. I was on the patch beforehand, and will go back to it after I have a baby, unless there is something a lot better out there by then.
18I was on the pill but I stopped b/c I'm trying to get preggo
19The pill, I used the nuva ring for 2 months and it made me throw up almost every morning. After the second month I went back the pill..
20IUD until a few weeks ago. The 5 year warranty wore out.
I haven't decided if I
will get a new one just yet. We might be trying for a baby soon. For now condoms.
21Nuvaring but I'm thinking about switching cause it's giving me super bad pregnancy symptoms.
22nuvaring and condoms
23The pill for about 4 years.
24I use the pill and condoms for backup. If the condom breaks I get the morning after pill...better safe than sorry I say!
25The pill plus condoms.
26I just remain abstinent. I mean I take the pill for menstrual problems but I agree with ClassicDiva, I just want to wait for the "one" when I choose to have sex and plus I don't need the added stress of worrying if I am pregnant.
27IUD and after this probably get a tubal ligation. I've had enough kids.
28i'm on the pill, but maaaaan does that stuff make me an emotional basket case. holy cow! lol
29The pill since I was 16. I'm shocked to see "pulling out" not on the list. jk. So many couples believe it actually works. My BFF, one of those couples, just got pregnant using that form... Oops!
30newromance, tell you gyno, she should be able to prescribe you another one, that will not make you a basket case. Every brand works differently with every girl, so sometimes you need to try a couple different brands to find the one that works best for you.
31Abstinence like classicsdiva and socialitebabe. Waiting for marriage:)
32I got an IUD with hormones last year, and it's been great. I don't get a period or any hormonal fluctuations. I was on the patch before that, and all the hormones made me crazy and sick. I became a much nicer, more reasonable person after getting the IUD.
33Sigh. I miss my NuvaRing. It ROCKED. But I don't have insurance at the moment...so we try to use as many OTC methods as possible.
34Abstinence now. I'm divorcing and there's no point in using anything else. Whenever I get back in my, uh, groove, I'll probably get an IUD.
35I'm just realizing somebody's probably going to give me an STD lecture. Note that I don't sleep with people I'm not in a commited relationship with, so avoiding pregnancy is really my only concern.
36was a pill girl from age 19 til about 6 month ago (27 now) and now a total implanon convert
37brandynicole730 - My husband and I used the rhythm method for two years and it worked for us.
38Condoms and the sponge, i love the sponge!
39Depo....the weight gain is not as bad as everyone thinks it is and i dont get my period...yay!
40Nothing, Nada, Zippity do da.
41syrup
42Non-hormonal IUD. The pill (Ortho Lo) completely wrecked my system and gave me a medical condition (atrophic vaginosis--not fun!!). I went to a specialist and he warned me that the pill has a lot of consequences that aren't entirely understood. If you are having problems on the pill, be careful! Some women are particularly sensitive to the hormonal changes that the pill causes.
43I've been taking the pill since last January, both for safety and medical reasons (I used to lose too much blood in my periods and got anemia), and I love it.
44BTW, I didnt gain weight! In fact, I lost a few pounds...
HELP!
i've been through hell and i'm quite back yet. I was on the pill from 16 - 27 (i'm 32 now). I had to stop because it drove me insane. i tried many different types but they more or less made me cranky, constantly hungry and fridgid. not a good combination, especially not in a relationship.
then there was the ring but i got so sentimental (and fridgid) i would cry over everything (and i'm not the sentimental type).
now i have the non-hormonal IUD and i feel better mentally but my body doesn't quite like it and my period is horrible. takes me out for a week. plus i don't feel orgasms really well anymore. i know my body and this isn't right. counting days is what i should be doing, but i don't wanna take that chance. children are not an option for the next 3-5 years.
does anybody have advice for me?
45this is killing me, seriously. and my boyfriend isn't digging it either...
p.s. condoms are not an option
46I use condoms because of their price and accessibility, but I'm thinking of getting on the pill too.
47the nuvaring is wonderful and soooo easy
48The pill. I've been thinking of other ways but I've been so busy and getting so distracted from the subject.
49Don't anyone think you're weird if you are enjoying the no worry time of abstinence!!!!I was celibate for 2 years following my divorce and once I became active again it was like a fresh start!!! Luckily now we are past the years of having more children so my husband had a vasectomy! Talk about liberating!!!He spent a weekend on the couch watching football games with an ice pack, 20 years ago! It was the best $400 we ever spent!
