Mark your calendars, cougar-wannabes! November 6 is your big day. Before the California Cougar Convention takes place at the Beverly Hills Crowne Plaza Hotel, cougar expert Lucia (no last name?) will host a cougar tutorial. The Cougar School must have a very easy learning curve, because this "Queen of the Cougar Jungle" Lucia teaches the class at 6:30 — and then gives the keynote address at 8 p.m.!
I imagine her instruction will go something like this: "Wear sexy clothes, make it known you're sexually available, and go to a bar where cubs are." I mean — could it be any more difficult than that?
What do you think about Cougar School?

I think there are two issues here. The first is agism. Women can totally look beautiful at 40, if they diet, exercise and see a dermatologist regularly. So, to anyone that says women should not be sexual beings at 40, I say pooh on you.
The second is dignity. A woman at 40 should not be doing the same nonsense that a woman at 20 can get away with. I suppose love between a 40 something and a 20 something can happen, but to go out there looking to score with them? Not so classy.
1agree entirely on both point 1 and 2 SKG!
2i also agree with skg...and i was going to say, the main point of being a cougar is "be old, be hot, prey on young men" - this "course" isn't rocket science!
3I don't know which is worse, that something like this actually exists or that people pay to go (or not pay to go)
4Do any of the rest of you find the term "cougar" kind of offensive? I am really turned off by it. I don't know why older men who date younger women get the nice, fun moniker "playboy", while older women who date younger men get tagged with the name of a dangerous predator. The suggestion that it is a predatory stance - 'hunting' young meat - I don't know, it just really makes my skin crawl...
5If you need schooling to learn to attract 20 and 30 year old D*cks then you don't need to be a cougar. As everyone knows 20 year old men give it to any body...lol
6This is silly. There is really no need for there to be a class on bedding younger men. They will have sex with an older woman because chances are she's not looking for or expecting a relationship. She's just out for sex and (most) guys in their 20's are just fine with that.
I do find the term offensive and I agree with Vsugar.
7This is Lucia. I will be teaching the class. Yes, I have a last name but I don't use it professionally. The class is not about picking up guys. Women of all ages can do that easily. It's more about how to handle the dating dynamics with a much younger man, because it IS different than dating someone the same age or older. Hope this clears things up.
8how humiliating...if a woman wants to date a younger guy i could not care less. if a woman is trying to be a "cougar", i find that disgusting. i believe a course in cougarism falls under the latter.
9There's nothing wrong with an older woman who happens to be dating a younger man... but to seek out that company...? And that title? As if the only men you could possibly identify with are 20-somethings? I think there's something more to it than just feeling attracted to young guys, like seeking attention and validation, not a relationship.
10I agree with spacekat as well. I actually see nothing wrong with "cougars" (I hate the term though), but if you have to take a class on being one then you probably shouldn't be one. To me it's something that comes naturally, not something that should be taught.
11It can be hard to find a decent man at a young age, but having to compete with a bunch of older (and often manipulative) women too, who are being trained in it? Doesn't sound too fair, IMHO. It's like outsourcing dating.
