Tattoos hurt and they're permanent, and these are two very good reasons that I don't have any - but that's not to say that I don't appreciate them! I totally respect the fact that they often represent an idea, a person, a memory, a place, a special date, or are just an artistic design a person has a connection with or loves.
The fact still remains that I am a huge wimp when it comes to pain and needles -- I can't even deal with one shot of Novocaine -- so I'm sure I would go absolutely ballistic if I got a tattoo. I'll stick to showing off my individuality in other ways.

What about you - are you into tattoos? Do you have any? Are you attracted to people who have tattoos, or are they a huge turn off for you? Does it depend on what or where the tattoo is? Have you ever dated anyone with a memorable tattoo? I want to hear it all.

unless its something entirely unique, I'm not really for seeing wrinkled drawings on my skin when I'm old...untouched is sometimes more beautiful.
1i think they're a bit tacky, but i do love watching LA/Miami Ink because those tattoo artists are phenomenal!
2I've always wanted one, but I've seen too many friends make mistakes with theirs.
3I've got one on the back of my neck, one on my left breast, one on my right arm, and one on my stomach. All but the boob one mean something and are special to me. The boob one was because I just broke up with my first boyfriend and wanted to be destructive. I pierced my tongue when we fought!
I was a cutter, I am a picker, I like the pain...but I've never dated anyone with tatts but my first BF. I am trying to get my man now to get one, but he's too chicken.
As my first tattoo artist told me when I asked the DUMBEST question 'will it hurt?':
Pain is only temporary...this is FOREVER.
I love them and wish I had the $ to get more and have the one on my arm expanded. Any artists in Seattle wanna work out a deal?
4I have 4.
2 cuffs (around my wrists) the left wrist has a hibiscus on the inner part of my wrist and a grapvine (minus the grapes, just the leaves) going around.
my right wrist is a jasmine on the inside with a daisy chain going around.
i have an oleander on the upper right part of my back and a bluebell on my left ankle.
I picked all of my flowers based on the Victorian language of flowers. I love each and every tattoo, and because 2 are on my wrists, i never have to wear bracelets. every time i see them, i fall in love with them all over again. (and the ones on my wrists are a good ice breaker when meeting guys...)
the meanings:
hibiscus: rare beauty
jasmine: elegance
oleander: warning
bluebell: modesty (i put that on my left ankle because it's the one i take my first step with, a good reminder to remain modest)
I want more, i have them planned, it's just a matter of where to put the rest of my "garden"
and the cost...
5I have 6 and love them. Mine all have meaning and a lot of thought went into them.
6I have one on my ankle and my husband has 6. They are kind of addicting once you get one. I would like one more but since it will be on my body forever and i can't decide on one i will wait.
7not something i would do. i don't want to become an old woman with sagging skin with sh*tty looking tats on my body. ewver see old people with tattoos? DISGUSTING.
i used to love guys with tats though.
8Four tattoos and counting baby!
xo
9I have none, but there have been those moments! I was either bored and seen someone with one and thought, "I want one!" but then when it came down to figuring out what I wanted I'd change my mind, because there really wasn't a thing that I liked longer than a day to be stuck on my body for a lifetime...
10I'm sorry but I don't like them. On girls at least, I just don't really find them to be appealing. I don't mind if a guy has one or two, but I'm not a huge fan.
11it depends where, and what design
12I have two....I want more.
13been thinking about it for so looong...but i´m to much of a chicken. I like them small thought, and a tatt in the right place can be super sexy
14pee wee, I completely agree with what you said!
15I agree with Tnkrbelli.
16I have one, my hubby has one (his mom is still covinced two years later that it will wash off one day) We both want more. THey are addictive and as tacky as they maybe when we're old you only live once adn our grandkids will think we're cool so what do we care?
17I have 3 and wanting some more. I def don't think they are tacky, they are part of our culture as well as our generation and hey all of us tatooed people will be old and wrinkly together with our tats!!
18I have 2. I like them. I won't get anymore though, I don't want to be tatted down. I have no problem with people who get a bunch of tats. To each their own.
19I like tattoos...when they are meaningful. I am more into piercings. I have 9, including the traditional 2 in the ear. But I'm actually planning on getting roughly 6 more between October and November!!!
20did this hurt, did that hurt? of course it fricken hurts when you have a fricken needle piercing your skin! i hate hate hate that question.
anyway, kudos to kendalheart's comment - i agree
lastly, i hope to god that photo of the below-the-belly tat is fake. looks pretty ridiculous.
21I love tattoos that have a meaning behind them.
22I have my dragon on the side of my back and some flowers on my hip, both are important to me.
I want some more too...one for my childhood, and one for my doggie that just passed away
I love tattoos , chicks with too many though look rough unless they can pull it off like in a Kat Von D sorta style ya know?
23and it depends what they are.
I have one, that means a lot to me, want ONE more and that's it. They are very special and remind me every day - this second one is even better because my brother (an artist) designed it for me!!
and letatouage, I thought that was a below-the-boob tat...
24Three tattoos and counting! I LOVE them...they remind me of times and memories in my life. None of them are huge and all except one can be hidden
My most recent one is a tiny apple on the inside of my ankle by my heel. I got it for my dog
that I had had since I was 8 years old. We had to put her down about a year ago, one month before my wedding
It was the hardest thing to do. Her favorite thing in the whole world was apples, so everyday, I can look at my ankle and remember my sweet friend
25Looks trashy on girls. I'd rather not feel like a drunken sailor.
26Some are nice. I'm usually disappointed in them because the colors aren't as vivid as they seem like they should be.
27i love them! i really like mine.. they are little and girly! but they do have meaning to them! and i cant wait until i can get some more!!
i have been thinking about another one alot lately.. and i think its almost time... im tryin
to talk my boyfriend into gettin one at the same time as me.. but i think i might be going on my own.. cuz he doesn't wanna rush his!
28I love tattoos I have two of them. I really want to get more at some point but for right now I'm holding out on the two I have
29I think tattoos can be really sexy, but it really depends on the person and the design, cause I've seen some that I really don't like
but that's the thing about tattoos they are very much for the person that is getting them
I love them and love seeing what people choose to get. I'd love to get a couple myself, but I'm very indecisive about what I want. Not to mention what a pain wuss I am. It was hard enough getting my nose pierced, and that just took a few seconds.
30i love them! i have one on my lower back (about the place where Lindsay Lohan has hers..not in the middle). I think guys w/ tats are super sexy (DAVID BECKHAM). JBlondie - your tattoo sounds very cool. I like the story behind it.
31Thanks Alille! I am contemplating getting one on my lower back as well....but not a centered one. What is yours of??
32Yup. I have 5, hope to get more. I like to keep mine small, but I love looking at other people's larger tattoos and sleeves.
33I absolutely LOVE tattoos but I've been too chicken to get any yet! I am totally turned on my guys that have them, especially full arms! My boyfriend only has one, but he has expressed wanting more. I want mine to have meaning but the first one I get, I want it to be a nice design in a place that is concealed to make sure I can handle the pain and the fact that its permanent, once that goes well, I may proceed with more.
34The Lower back Tattoo is otherwise known as the "Tramp Stamp" in the tattooing community. Just FYI.
I Have two, my hubby has a bunch, our friends have alot. I have to say that i dont care for leg tattoos on women, have yet to see one i like, this includes the foot.
My friend tattoos, and I once hung out with him one day, and it was the start of the semester. They all had bets as too what kind of tattoo requests they would be getting and would each pick out one, and if someone came in and requested that certain tattoo, the others had to give him 5 bucks.
The Tattoos were:
Roses
dolphins
chinese symbols
butterfly
fairy
stars
They do literally hundreds a week of just those.....how original...
35I don't have any and I've never wanted one until recently.. I want to get some kind of small, feminine cuff around my wrist.
36sometimes they're cute...but sometimes they're weird, in my opinion. i like really unique ones. me, i'm planning on getting a trio of stars on my right shoulder blade. i've wanted it for years.
37and i'm more into piercings, personally =]
38When I'm older, I think I might get one or two small ones. I like them, but sometimes, some people can have an overload of tats.
39I have none.
40Four and counting...each has meaning. No names or cartoons. Some people think they are trashy or look bad, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I love my ink, and I have it for me, not for anyone else.
41I currently have three and am planning on a few more.
42I have one, and I'm planning for my next one.. my first tattoo marked an important milestone in my life, as will the second..
43I like tats on a man but I keep picturing tats on an old woman and it ain't pretty.
44i have one.. in the back of my neck..
45The "Tramp Stamp" is in the center. If you're going lower back, but not centered, it's not considered a Tramp Stamp.
46i have a tibetan phrase on my back, to the right of my spine. it looks vertical, but it actually reads horizontal. not too big, and not too small. i had always wanted one but waited for the right time and chose something i really wanted. it was a time when i was going through lots of change.
47i originally wanted a lotus (enlightenment/growth etc) but opted for text which has the word lotus in it, but together translates roughly to "compassion."
i love it.
and now i want more! possibly my love's name on my butt. jkjk!
i haven't decided if i really want one or not.
48if i were to get one, i would get the words "a la folie" in a pretty cursive
or like
"il m'aime. un peu? beaucoup! passionément. a la folie. pas du tout."
i'd probably get it on the back of my right shoulder.
but i don't really like the way tattoos look when wearing tank tops haha, so i probably shouldn't get it lol.
and i love love love angelina jolie's tattoos. especially the one on her lower back! and i love victoria beckhams tattoos.
49Big tattoos are amazingly sexy. People who get flash off of the walls at a tattoo shop because they're drunk and bored drive me NUTS. I'm currently on the wait list of Aaron Della Vedova, one of the best tattoo artists in the country (in my opinion.) He'll be doing my entire right side, from my bikini area all the way up past my breast, by the end of the year. Can't wait!
)
Ooh, and this fall a company is releasing a tattoo ink that can be removed in one laser removal treatment, so no more "old and wrinkly/regret" excuses!!
