Perky contestants vied for the crown of Miss Plastic Hungary this week. Only women who have gone under the knife were invited to participate in the artificial-beauty pageant held in Budapest. Botox wouldn't qualify you, but one contestant's surgically adjusted toes did get her included. Reka Urban, 22, won the (plastic?) crown, and she received an apartment in Budapest as her prize. Check out this video from the contest, and tell me what you make of such an unabashedly fake beauty pageant!

I think it's easy to say "this is disgusting," but Eastern European beauty is such a complex topic with surprisingly deep-rooted political connections.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, women were finally able to show off their bodies once again after decades of rigid indecency laws. I can understand the reasons that the beauty regimen of younger generations of women is a total 180 from that of their mothers'.
1This is bizzarre. I guess at least everyone is on an even playing field.
2Huh. Well, I think it's interesting. One thing you have to take into account is the attitude these days is not to be ashamed of a little nip and tuck. Plus these girls look pretty good to begin with and had a couple of upgrades. Whats better, for women to continue hiding it, or just say hey I did it and it works great? Look at me now? What is the better choice? Medical science is rapidly changing. Attitudes are changing. The upgrades are easier, more natural and safer. Someday it'll be like Logan's Run. You lay on a table, change your hair, your eyes. Maybe your smile a little? Then out you go. Nothing to be ashamed about. Just another errand before you get latte or something. But can they please hurry it up and make the prices lower for the rest of us who would actually benefit?
3Oh Fatherland, how you amuse me
Though I wouldn't get plastic surgery, its to each
their own.
4Nothing wrong with a little surgery to make yourself feel better. Although in conventional beauty pagents half the contestands have had nose jobs, lip injections and hair extensisons so if you want 'fake' its pretty much every where.
