OMG. I have to think they worded it this way on purpose.
Then again, when I went to Toronto last month, everyone was so cheerful and smily. Perhaps Canadians are so cheerful, they didn't notice.
1Wow, I wish my neighbors were that friendly and helpful.
2i can't even imagine what this was supposed to mean aside from the Xrated interpretation
3i walked past that sign the other day and it made me lol but my friends didn't think it was as funny as i did... i guess they just like subtler humour
4Skigurl, Jerk Chicken is a Caribbean speciality; it's a kind of spiced barbeque marinade.
5I haven't seen that one around. I will have to keep my eyes open. It is really funny.
6And most everyone here in Toronto would get the Jerk Chicken reference. We have a very large Caribbean community.
I was going to say the same thing Tres.
I don't think it is an attempt at humor at all. They are saying that their neighbor is a business man that they are trying to support mom and pop businesses.
7I understand the culinary take, but I still think it's vulgar.
8you guys are weird... Toronto is not so different from any major American city that we have a significantly different sense of humour! I have a friend who worked for this campaign and I can assure you the double entendre is intentional. it's a great campaign promoting local businesses, and clearly it's getting the attention it's looking for
9Of course it was intentional, Canadians are not that naive. It's meant to be funny... slogans range from "My neighbour says size matters" (tailor), to "My neighbour gets on my nerves" (massage therapy).....
10Haha yeah it's obviously intentional. I've only seen the Jerk Chicken one on the street but there are others coming, including a tailor with "My Neighbour Says Size Matters," and "My Neighbour Sells Home Grown" with a picture of an old man with a bag of produce.
You can see them all here: http://bit.ly/EzxUX
11i know what jerk chicken is, thanks
12the slogan is just stupid
Skigirl,
Maybe you just have a piss poor sense of humour or... just a little pissy today. It's just an ad.
13Yet another reason to not go vegetarian. *wiggling eyebrows*
