Pepsi's Amp Up energy drink (another one?!) has created a free iPhone app that gives players "up-to-the-minute info, feeds, lines" so that they can talk to their favorite kinds of women — "24 in all."
Basically, men can either get tips before they score, or they can upload details of their hookups as a result of these indubitably useful apps after they score. Nice touch, Pepsi.
I would rename this the "wishful thinking app." Because what guy who would ask his phone how he should speak to a "punk" woman because she's "staring holes into him" is really scoring at all? I love when the guy in the commercial clicks on the punk cartoon girl and it takes him to a definition of punk ("Punk rock is a genre that . . ."). Wow.
This app may try to help a man score one of 24 types of women, but it seems to be marketed to only one kind of dude: a loser.
(Tell GeekSugar the weirdest iPhone app you've ever seen and read about Pepsi's official apology.)

Yum already had a post about this, and this was featured on Jezebel yesterday.
I think there are elements that could be fun (I actually like watching the Pick Up Artist, because some of those guys need a lot of help), but a point you don't mention that the Yum post did, is that the app encourages guys to brag about girls they've scored with, by updating twitter or facebook.
cut and paste from my YumSugar response:
1The fact that this encourages guys to brag about girls they've scored with on facebook and twitter (and call it conquests) leaves a bad taste. It's way too similar to the "spur posse" rapes that were a big deal when I was in high school.
Geez... let's just give men another opportunity to act like total douchebags and call it entertainment....way to go, Pepsi.
Wouldn't it be great if there was a way you could find out all of the men who buy this app, maybe from their bragging Facebook profiles, and create an app featuring them called "Douche of the Day"?
Now, THAT I would buy.
2That's awesome. Stay tuned for the Spacekatgal iPhone app, that will help you keep track of all the guys your rejected.
3I'm just curious as to what category I would fall under.
4An app for saps.
5A mindless app for an equally mindless gadget.
6Oh jeez. It's supposed to be funny. People are so easily offended.
Of course it's not actually useable. And if there are some guys that can actually be helped by it then give them a break, they must have a really hard time.
It takes two to tango. This app isn't going to make any innocent women go to bed with any creep against her will.
Chill out, enjoy the humor.
7aha - skg - that would be an app I would use. Complete with auto picture snap and an upload feature to immortalize the rejected forever.
This is beyond stupid - I swear men and their Iphones - they will buy the most stupid apps - one that farts? One the burps. Seriously - could we enable men to be more juvenile every day?
8menat ha ha
9lots of things are supposed to be funny, but it doesn't mean they are
this is from an article that tries to argue that the iphone isn't sexist
"Yes, OK, it does stereotype women into potentially offensive classifications. I'll give it that."
I'd say that's pretty sexist. Or, in broader terms, pretty damn stupid.
10It's supposed to be funny, but it's not. I can just imagine all the douche bags out there, young and old, using this kind of crap. Is it necessary? No. It's just for the "cool" factor that so many men are after, yet they never acquire. Clearly it doesn't take more than an iphone app for some guys to feel like the greatest guy on earth. Congrats you got laid and now want to judge them. As far as I know, women did this with girlfriends all the time and never had to have an "app for that".
