Do you crave that shiny, glossy model hair you see in magazines? Well, I sure do, so if you're anything like most women out there, here are some tips to get that crave worthy sheen.

- Pollution, poor eating habits, dehydration, heat, and chemicals dry out your hair, so be sure you're getting the right nutrients and protecting your hair against environmental factors to help make your hair look healthy and shiny
- If you get your hair colored at a salon, always get a shine enhancing gloss or toner put on over your color. Not only will it make your color look better, but your hair will feel silky smooth for days
- Be sure to shampoo and condition with shine-enhancing products that contain natural ingredients such as jojoba and olive oils. Adding more chemicals will just dry out your hair
- Steer clear away from clarifying shampoos. They can strip your hair of your natural oils and moisture that is important for healthy hair. Don't wash your hair everyday - aim for three times a week and every other day at the most
- If you feel your hair has a lot of buildup, alternate with a different shampoo and conditioner
- If you can, let your hair air dry. Nothing is more damaging than heat from a blow dryer, curling iron, or straightener
- If you must blow dry, be sure to add a protecting agent to your hair before adding the heat. If you have fine hair, stick with a glossing cream which is lighter and if you have thicker, more curly/coarse hair, use a thicker anti frizz serum. When adding hair products, massage usually a quarter size amount evenly throughout your hair
- Shine sprays can make your hair look greasy, so add sparingly to the tips of your hair and avoid your scalp area as much as possible
There are many home remedies out there that I have not tried personally, but others swear by conditioning with mayonnaise, olive oil, avocado, even leaving conditioner in your hair overnight. If you have any that have worked for you, please share them below!

I rinse my conditioner out with cold water, and use Garnier Fructis Length & Strengh whenever I'm not blow drying my hair. The cool water prevents my hair and scalp from drying out, and the leave-in product strengthens my hair - I definitely noticed a lack of breakage from styling once I started using it.
1I'm sorry but I have to was my hair everyday, otherwise I feel yucky and itchy in my scalp, especially after running around the park, which I try to do everyday. Is it really bad to wash your hair everyday? I really don't notice any negative effects. Is this really true?
2Helpful? I think so. Thanks so much, DearSugar.
3Will definitely try this out!
4I usually can't go more than a day without at least rinsing my hair, so I at least have to rinse every day. Monoi oil is also wonderful for your hair--I put a little bit in my hair twice a week overnight. I like the way it smells and it helps your hair without being too heavy. You can find it at The Body Shop.
5Rinse your hair with cold water at the end of the shower.
6I do what I want with my hair, and yes, I suffer whatever consequences come my way. I have split ends and fly aways, but I am not going to follow an uncomfortable routine to achieve ultimate hair health and protection. It's just hair, if worst comes to worst, I'll buy a wig! ( A better one than Britney though, girlfriend needs a professional weave or something. Looks like her cousin Alli has been doing her hair, or worse, she does it herself!)

8Great tips! I almost always air dry my hair and I notice the change; it's not as fried. I wash my hair 2-3x's a week and wash w/ conditioner for thee showers in between. That helps. Also, as a treatment I use Jojoba Oil in my hair at night; I also use Coconut Oil. Those are amazing!
9thanks i needed this
10Try Elvive´s Nutri Gloss (the pink one)... Amazing! My hair looks better than ever!
11im a blonde, so i find it really hard to get that glossy shine that girls w. darker hair seem to have naturally (lucky!) so, after i have my color done at the salon, i have a PowerShot conditioner put on top of it for 25 dollars. it lasts for at least a month or two and makes your hair so soft and glossy! for styling, i actually use the So Sexy Hair Serum from Victoria's Secret. It's relatively inexpensive and i've found it to be better than the pricier salon quality shine serums.
12To Windynini,
13If you are running around in the park everyday, but you still want to achieve a glossy set of locks, try showering as usual but don't "wash" your hair. Just rinse it with warm water and then when you get out of the shower spray in some leave-in conditioner. I find this really helps and you still get the benenfits from the natural oils in your scalp.
