Okay, let’s be honest: Drew Barrymore was never really all that hot. In fact, hot was never the appropriate adjective for her. She was cute as a little kid in E.T. and sometimes adorable in her twenties, and now…well, now she’s just another talking chubby face attached to a chubby body that should know better than to be projected on a giant movie screen.
— Blogger Nathan Bloch from Spike.com in a post entitled The Top 10 Actresses Past Their Expiration Date. Bloch is not all sexism and nastiness, though — he will grant that once upon a time, 20 years ago, Sarah Jessica Parker was "halfway decent."

Wow someone's an actress because she has talent and not because she's a knock out sex symbol. And Drew Barrymore is a healthy weight. I bet if you compared her to people in the real world instead of overly skinny starlets, she's look thin.
1I think she has a very lovely body.
2I do not think she's chubby. Is she chubby?
Anonymous, for me, this is an opportunity not to evaluate Drew's body, but to question whether or not it's OK for people to judge women based on their bodies and looks. In Hollywood, men seem to get away with a lot — they can be older and out of shape and not have an "expiration date" as if they were cartons of milk.
3So because these women no longer look like they're 25, they've "expired" and are expected to quit acting? Because they're not eye candy? Ugh. The only one on the list that I agree with is Lindsay Lohan.
4on one hand, what a prick, and what a hateful list.
on the other hand, nobody can deny that looks (particularly thin and youthful looks) get you work as a woman in Hollywood. how many times have women been cast as the mother figure of a man she could easily be dating in "real life"?
5Ok, I think this guy is a douche, BUT, he is entitled to his opinion of her. I have asked alot of men if they think she is hot and the answer is nooo. I think she is really cute and pretty - but there is something about her that guys (of all types) don't like. Alot have told me its her mouth area?? Whatever. I don't think he is saying he does judge or it's OK for people to judge women based on their bodies and looks. I think he is saying he doesn't, like seeing her cast as a hottie in short skirt (maybe in the Whip it movie?). I don't think the point here is the talent - but simply how they are cast/ what roles they are supposed to be in.
6he's just trying to cause controversy and generate traffic. I wouldn't give him the satisfaction.
7Also, I agree with the point about Teri Hatcher, "This is not what we want to be looking at having affairs with the pool boy and the next door neighbor." Thats basically his whole point. Kinda like in the proposal - sandra bullock who looks hot but much older than ryan reynolds.. it just wasn't believable.
8Is it a DB move? Absolutely. But women are JUST as bad. For example, read the posts on Rumer Willis. The comments tear her up one side and down the next. Just because the comments aren't published in the traditional sense doesn't mean they're any less hurtful or judgmental.
9What a ****head.
Some women age more gracefully than others, but it happens to all of us. I admire about 1/2 the women on his list for doing it well.
Guys are just such jerkstores about this. As if a woman's only worth is in staring in his fantasies.
10Well, I think this list is inaccurate. It seems like it's mostly based on the lack of youthful beauty.
To me, that's NOT a measure of a valid actress.
Incidentally, I happen to be underwhelmed by some the actresses on the list, but NOT based on their appearances. I think they need some work on their acting abilities, and they're unconvincing when they portray characters. My discontent is based on their abilities as actresses.
11What's that saying, opinions are like...********, everyone has one.
While he thinks Drew Barrymore is chubby, expired, and should know better than to be projected on a giant body...there are millions other people out there who would disagree. My dad for example thinks she is the most gorgeous woman in the world, after my mom, of course.
And for someone who claims to care so much about looks and the media...he shouldn't have posted a picture.
12Hm, well it's mean, but he has a right to talk since he's such a breathtakingly handsome man. Ladies, he's single! Rawr!
13yeah, he's no prize himself. he would be lucky to have anyone like drew barrymore even bother to glance at him.
14Sigh. Your opinion has no merit Mr. Bloch. When you become well-known, have talent, and can write a decent article that your informed about I'll be interested in that list.
15Small penis says what?
16Why is TresSugar paying this man any attention at all? The Sugar family has a great thing going and unfortunately you've probably just given him more traffic than he's ever seen.
17This is complete douchebaggery. The man needs to be tea-bagged repeatedly and forced to make out with a chimp.
18HoneyBrown, I just spit out my soda. HA!
19what a douche!
20thats pretty f*cked up. and i'm sure he looks absolutely great *heavy sarcasm*
21and I think Julia Roberts still looks pretty hot!
22What an absolute prick. He goes on about how Drew Barrymore (a woman who is not overweight) is chubby and should be in the plus-size section of a JCPenney catalogue, yet complains that Helen Hunt has bought into "the unattractive Hollywood fad of self-starvation". What exactly does he want then?
23Bravo finally somebody says like it is "It’s easy to see why Tom Cruise would have grown tired of this uptight Aussie getting up in his grill every night."
She and Keith Cocaine Urban indeed deserve each other.
24Drew has gotten much more beautiful with age. I'd say in her teens and early 20s she wasn't beautiful (she wasn't ugly) but somewhere around the Ever After, Never Been Kissed time she really became incredibly beautiful.
Now if only she would have been taste in men, she's never had good taste in men (Marilyn Manson, Tom Green, etc)
25With the exception of Drew, I can say that I agree with some of the women on his list. Not because they're not beautiful or too old(or some of the meaner things he said) it's because I'm bored with seeing them. I never really liked some of those actresses, like Cameron Diaz who in my opinion can't act, and I would rather see new blood in Hollywood. That being said, I could also compile a list of men in Hollywood who I would love to see never do another movie, hello Will Farrel, but that's just me.
26The blogger is a prick and just wanted something he and his buddies could laugh about, he's a joke and the things he said are hurtful just to make waves nothing else.
And since when did someone's looks determine their ability to act well?
