It's always nice to hear a compliment from someone, especially a stranger! Some people are good with receiving them whereas others get uneasy and shy when hearing other people say positive things about them. I'm not sure if it's a nervous habit, but I notice that some people automatically give a complement in return when they are given one. Do you do that? If someone says, "I really like your shirt", do you say, "I like yours too?!" or do you simply say "thank you!"? So what I want to know is, do you always compliment back?

I think it is silly to throw around compliments just for the sake of it. They should be said when you mean it. Just like apologies.
1I am one of those that shy away. I am getting better about saying thank you and meaning it instead of just nodding/ blowing it off.
2i always shy away. i'm fine with people complimenting my stuff, but when people come over and start touching my stuff or eyeing me whenever i come into the office (to see if i have anything new)... now that gets uncomfortable and my shy reflexes get in the way!
3I compliment when it's appropriate, like when I realllyyy like someones' bag or makeup or something. I don't just throw em' out there after they compliment me.
4I usually always comment back, even if it's me just saying, "You too!".
5I always have a hard time finding what to reply... two reasons for that: I don't pay much attention to the person's physical aspects (clothes, hair etc) but rather focus on what they say or do. Also, I sometimes struggle to find my words...
I suppose I'm not used to complimenting people... being a girl, I find it so much easier to compliment a guy (no flirt intended) than a girl (maybe because of my hidden, fierce, jealous inner girl
...)
Any advice to help me react faster and be able to compliment people more easily?
6If someone compliments me I usually say "Thanks, that's so nice of you to say." (or something along those lines) You're complimenting without seeming insincere.
7It depends on the situation: Usually, I just say thank you, however, there are sometimes where you can tell you are being complimetned because the other person is themselves fishing for a compliment.
8I usually say thank you cuz I'm embarassed. I always get caught off guard with compliments- even from my boyfriend. Sometimes I dunno how to handle it and I get really shy lol
9I agree with bfly - I don't compliment for the sake of complimenting. If someone says they like my shirt, hair, whatever, I reply with "Thank you." I don't think it's necessary to reply back.
10i would usually say "thank you" and leave it at that. i would never compliment if i don't mean it.
11Greggie, have we disagreed at all lately?
12recieve a compliment as you would a gift, bc thasts what it is.
13I just compliment when I feel the need to (ie - cute outfit, etc.). And its true, for me anyways, that people tend to get to it first before I say anything.
14really hate lying. and no one deserves a compliment if it aint true
like,
he shouldnt have dumped you, youre way too good for him
if the truth is that shes a b*tch, which is why he dumped her, then why say that shes way too good for him? get my drift?
