Sweet Valley High, a book series that had a twenty-year run starting in 1983, centered on the lives of teen twins Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield from — you guessed it — Sweet Valley, CA. There was even a television show based on the books.
Word on the street is that Jennifer's Body screenwriter Diablo Cody will be at the helm of a project to produce and direct an adaptation of the Sweet Valley High books. Something tells me she'll be perfect for this.

Yes! I loved Sweet Valley High! Elizabeth and Jessica made up the bulk of my middle school reading.
1Looking back, the series was quite awful (5'6", blonde hair, blue eyes - or were they blue green eyes? Gag me), but I'd be curious to see what happens with this project.
a few, but I was mainly a Babysitters Club fan
2agree mamasita!! i read a few but it wasn't my very favorite series
3Babysitters club was my all time favorite for sure
i read tons of books though
I looooved sweet valley ! I read all the books and my sister and I liked to assign the characters to ourselves - I was elizabeth (loved to read) and she was jessica (super social) hehehe.
4I remember reading one.
5Oh I think I had most of them.. in fact they may still be at my mother's house somewhere. I loved them.
6I read some of them but wasn't a huge fan.
7I'm a blonde twin so I read Sweet Valley High AND the Sweet Valley Twins series growing up. One of my favorite books as a kid was the Sweet Valley Twins Christmas story.
Memories
8yes,i think i read all of them,Liz was definitely me fave
9Yes, I read the middle school series, high school series, college series, and family sagas. I even read the revamped high school series and the Elizabeth series when she heads to England. I watched the tv show, too. Needless to say I was a huge fan.
10In elementary school I read babysitters club books and then in middle and early high I read the high school and college series. OoOh England ones too!! they were kinda strange tho.
11twins and the family sagas..but not high school
12I did read some but not all of them.
13I read one of them when I was in middle school.
14I've read every Princess Diaries novel like 800 times. But, this series was too innocent for me to get into.
15Hearing about this kind of makes me want to read one of the books again...
16Ps. I always wanted to drive a red jeep because Jessica and Elizabeth had one. To my 11-year-old self, it seemed wildly glamorous.
17Loved them.
18party, i agree. I sort of want to look for them next time i visit my mom.. see if they are still around?!?
19Not going to lie, I'm going to go check out a few from the library. I've been looking for some light, fast reads.
The thing about Diablo Cody if she does this - is that now all she's done in film is high school movies - is that really all she wants to do? There's a niche for it, but I couldn't continually dumb myself down to that level - if she can, I guess good for her.
20I read Sweet Valley Kids too ... I wanted to grow up and be just like Elizabeth!
21I loved these books. I read a lot of them. They were hand me downs from my aunt who was only 9 years older than me.
22I read all of the Sweet Valley High Books and college books, I am pretty sure. I was always obsessed with reading, growing up. I even watched the short TV show they had on in the late 90's. They even have some episodes on YouTube, haha.
23Yes, I read some of them. Incidentally, I remember that exact cover.
When I was in junior high, I had a good formula for reading them, without reading the entire book. I would read the synopsis on the back, and last chapter of the book. One would get the whole story from that. Really.
24I used to have the Sweet Valley High board game! But for reading I was more of a Babysitters' Club kind of kid.
25Not SVH but I was totally mad about Sweet Valley Kids and Sweet Valley Twins! I even read the Unicorn Club series. Good times
26It was one of my 80s staples!!
27GlowingMoon, we're so alike
28it was all about the babysitters club for me.
29I love, loved Sweet Valley, yes I even watched the crappy tv show and you all know it was crappy. lol. The novels were great but the tv show was ugh. Anyway I would love to see a well acted and well written adaptation.
30Aimeelo...I also read the babysitters club. I loved the movie when it came out in the mid 90s. Man I feel old now. lol.
31How do you know Diablo Cody will be perfect for this? She has never directed before.
32Yuck, Diablo Cody. Probably the most grotesquely overrated screenwriter and now apparently director. Besides, I don't think Sweet Valley High will fly these days anymore.
33yep, i've read them! also Sweet Valley kids before going to Sweet Valley High then the SVU series.. as a kid, i actually envied Lily Fowler (she's probably the old-school Blair Waldorf) and Liz was my personal hero..
34Read every single one, and the spinoffs. Loved them.
