I'm a fan of motivational tips because even though some of them may seem corny and random, they can be helpful in a pinch.
I needed a picker-upper the other day and was reminded of this list of things to do to ensure a better life. It may sound silly, but doing two things on the list — eating almonds and taking a walk while grinning like a weirdo (OK, that's not how he put it!) really did boost my mood.
I'm all about being proactive. What do you do to lift your spirits?

I go for a nice, long run. It's a skill that's gotten me through the toughest times.
1Get drunk and high. No, I'm joking.
No honestly, I'm joking! Quit with the 3rd degree jeez.
I go rock climbing or call my friend Jennifer. That ALWAYS works.
2I love this list!! I really like "Life isn't fair, but it's still good."
3I plan a get-together with my friends! And putting on some music and dancing around like a maniac works too
4Get drunk and high, not joking
It does lead to laughing a
lot, which is good for stress relief...
But in situations where that's inappropriate, I count my blessings (that always works) and remind myself "Do your best, let God do the rest."
5One word: chocolate.
6I take some time to remember the bad things in the past, which sounds depressing but its not. It reminds me of how hard i worked to get where I am and how hard I'm working to get to where i ultimately want to be. It really helps draw me out of my funk and make me realize and apreciate my blessings.
7Listening to ska music and baking make me happy. I never want to eat what I want to eat what I bake though so my friends are always the lucky recipients of surprise goodies when I've had a horrible day. Lucky them...
8It sound very cheesy and cliche, but what I do to lift my spirit is to think about my accomplishment and how lucky I'm. It reminds me not to sweat the small things.
9Cleaning is the best thing I do to make myself feel better. After that, it's reading happy stories or books, and cuddling with my honey. I bookmarked that list though, it was very nice. I think I may have my students write lists about what they can do to improve their mood or lift their spirits -- words of wisdom or something. It doesn't fit in with what I'm doing, but it's an E.C. assignment, for sure.
10Get down on the floor and start playing with my pups. Gets me right out of my funk.
11I make art, go for a walk to a park, super clean my apartment, play with my dog, call my family, or go to dinner with a close friend. I definitely bookmarked this list. I think I might even print it out and put it on my fridge. Stay positive! Thanks!!
12A good hug from my husband.
13Go shopping! Then go home and purge the closet to make room for the new
Take a long
walk in the woods, get drunk with girlfriends, pet my doggies...
14Brian!
I love you!!!
I snuggle or play with that lump on my avi known as Oliver. Also cooking. The messier the better!
15My favorite from this list: No one is in charge of your happiness except you. It's easy to blame your bad moods on other people/events, but it's all about how you deal with the situations thrown at you.
16Chrstne, LOVE the idea of making this an extra credit assignment! i bet you'll get some really great introspective responses
17Retail therapy, get a massage, play with my puppy, journal, etc.
18Listening to music, especially The Killers. I find their songs uplifting
Talking to my best friend Bradley or going for a nice long walk is also a good option
19I have a small chest that I keep things that are very meaningful to me and that are always able to lift me out of a funk. I also browse through my many self-help/motivational books that I've highlighted favorite passages and/or quotes in. I listen to music, dance and/or clean. Often, simply getting up and moving even if it's just to walk across the room helps, just changing my position is a big help.
20Writing in my journal. I should do it more often actually, because right after I'm done, whatever was putting me down immediately seems a lot more manageable.
21I go for a run!
22I go to the toy store around the corner from where I live and play around like a kid for a while, bouncing on bouncy ball horses, wearing silly hats and blowing bubbles. And then I head to the attached tea shop, order a coconut bubble tea -- because its bubbles and has the coolest fat straws. Living like a kid is a much better option for me than blowing all my money on new shoes (my other preferred lift my spirits activity).
23i usually get dressed, turn up the music and dance it away! dancing(or exercise in general) burns off stress hormones and raises endorphin levels. Always makes me feel better!
24I'm a get drunk person too. Either that or coffee, lots and lots of coffee.
Walking around helps a lot too.
25baking & my fav music
26I like to look at photos from fun times, have a nice cocktail or sandwich, or go for a walk.
27I actually love to clean and play country music blasting for hours. Or I go for a walk and look at the mountains.
28I call a good friend and have a good laugh!
29Clean. Listen to music. Call someone. Shop. Watch a favorite movie.
30Or all of the above. Sometimes I write, or maybe even paint. Just depending. Another thing I've done is go to a book store and hang out reading a great book. I'm sure I've also gone to a gym and worked out. I guess it just depends on my mood and how bad it is.
Fuzzies: I totally agree! What is it about messy cooking that is so cathartic? My fiance is horrified by my spattered, stained cookbook, but to me they are just well-loved!
31When I am in a funk I always go to this flower shop by my work that is like a fairyland. When I'm at home, I look through all my old pictures and reminisce about fun times I've had to remind me there are more to come!
