It makes me sad that this has to be reviewed so often. I think it's GREAT that Dear Sugar is doing it, it just disappoints me that this isn't common knowledge.
1It's scary how much is out there, and how many people don't think of the risks involved.
2There's always a new generation of girls who need to learn this information though.
3I agree, MrsSchmitt, my point is that it's scary that it's not taught in places other than here.
4All of this was taught in my school's sex ed (I graduated in '00), except for the Nuvaring... I might be wrong but I don't think that was around then.

Thanks again for doing this, DearSugar. Though I agree with Greggie that it's sad you need to.
6This info is just so important to our health. The more you hear it, the more you'll understand.
7I absolutely agree, DearSugar. I'm not at all saying it shouldn't be said - actually I said I think it's great that you shared it.
My point remains that people DON'T hear it more, and that's what I find sad.
8thanks for the great info and i'm proud of myself for knowing them all

everybody needs to be well informed. thanks for posting this!
10Sometime else I suggest is only having one sexual partner for your entire life. (That is one of the reasons I am an advocate of abstinence before marriage...).
It's best explained in this quote:
"When you have sex with someone, you are having sex with everyone they had sex with for the last ten years and everyone they and their partners have had sex with for the last ten years." -C. Everett Koop, M.D., Former U.S. Surgeon General
Here's a link to a sexual exposure chart. It shows how many people you have been exposed to by the number of partners that you have had. (It assumes that everyone had the same number of partners as you). Since you can get STD's from oral sex... anyone that you've participated in oral sex with ALSO counts as a partner...
Here's the chart... scary! http://www.pregnancyhelp.com/index.cfm/method/content.190F7B1A-BD49-4856...
11100%...... But ummm its scary to think ppl don't know this info
12It's also good to remember that not all protection is 100% effective against STD's... sometimes condoms break... so always err on the side of caution.
13Yay, I got them all right
14100% baby. =] Haha.
15100% baby! I know my stuff.
