In my August must haves post, I suggested treating yourself to some sexy lingerie - which I feel every woman should have. Now I know what some of you are saying, I am not a lingerie girl, I don't feel comfortable in lingerie, or I'm single and have no one to wear it for but lingerie doesn't necessarily mean risque garters and crotchless panties. Here are some tips on how to build a classy lingerie wardrobe.

- Lingerie can be expensive, so build your collection slowly
- Every women should have plenty of the essentials: Seamless t-shirt bras, seamless thongs, seamless full back underwear -- in nude, black, and white -- and a few boy shorts for sleeping or lounging in
- Certain pieces of clothing require special underwear. Every woman should own a simple slip in black and nude, and a few different styles of Spanx and a deep v-neck cut bra. Nylons are a thing of the past, but opaque tights have made a serious come back so keep a few pairs handy in the cooler months
- Our body's shape changes constantly, so make sure you get a professional bra fitting regularly
- Once the basics are purchased, I recommend investing in a few sexy, more fancy pieces of lingerie. Since this kind of underwear isn't meant to be worn everyday (unless you're feeling extra saucy that is) splurge on a matching bra and panty set, a silk nightie, or an amazing garter belt and sheer silk stockings -- it's a great way to spice things up in the bedroom!
- Always hand wash your intimates and never put them in the dryer. Lay them flat to dry and wrap them up in tissue so they don't snag in your drawer
Happy shopping!

I have five lingerie sets from victoria secrets. But I dont wear them alot.
1Even though I was really happy with the bra I bought after receiving professional help, I was extremely embarrassed by the poking and prodding ... at one time, there were FOUR sales assistants with me in the fitting room. Ummmmm ... awkward!
2I am extremely uncomfortable in lingerie. I don't feel sexy in it, I feel fat and droopy. I'm very hard to fit, and I don't have the cash to get stuff that would work around that.
I have a small collection because my husband enjoys it, but it does asbolutely nothing for me. I feel way sexier in a dress and heels.
3I do absolutely agree with getting a professional fitter, although I also agree it's awkward to be pushed and prodded. *lol*
However, not all intimates should be laid flat. My bras very specifically need to be hung from the middle.
4I have like 25 cute and colorful Maidenform bras-- they're affordable and seem to fit the best. I have enough underwear to not do laundry for three months-- I love the Gap's colorful ultra low lace bikinis and thongs. I feel the best in these things, since I try to match them every day. Lingerie makes me feel fat and uncomfortable, for some reason. I don't see much of a point in it.
5i actually dont like spanx. they look like granny panties imo.
the only lingerie i buy is from Victoria's Secret and some cute boy shorts from Aerie by American Eagle.
6I also really dislike stuff that says "every woman should own..." I hate seamless stuff, and it's not supportive on me. And I despise boy shorts.
7Fab advice Dear; I need to take better care of my lingerie, you've inspired me.
xo
8I had a fairly large lingerie collection and then I had my breasts augmented, so now I am slowly building again! I love lingerie and feel so sexy and feminine in it!
9It's funny that you posted this cause I've seriously been thinking about trying to build a collection!
10I love garters. If I must wear hose, it's garters every time.
I have some hot nighties I got my boyfriend for his birthday that I model for him. Silly girls, you go try it on, wrap it, and give it to your guy. The stuff that doesn't stay on for at most five minutes is not for you, but for him!
11ya vctoria secrets is gr8 i got two soo cute sets the other day i love them! but yes theyre are saved for my special occasions hehe
12Wow. More stuff for us to spend our money on to look good. Not only do we make less money, on average, than men, but we're expected to pluck, wax, primp, color, sunless tan, have the latest fashions, and now an entire lingerie wardrobe. Who needs to save money for a down payment on a house or a car or children or retirement when there are frilly panties and garter belts to be had! Lucky us...
13I've forced myself to cut down on the lingerie purchases. When I do buy new stuff, I admit most of it is for my boyfriend, but it's also for me, 'cause I love wearing cute underwear, even if no one sees it!
14Love this post!!!
15Thanks for the advice. I guess it is somewhat essential for us girls to have a nice, cute collection of lingerie. I'm trying to lose some 10-15 lbs. so I guess I'll save those purchases after I've obtained my goal.
16I HATE Victorias Secret... I once went for a fitting, they told me I was an "A" cup!?!?! WtF? Um, that's my chest on the picture to the right.... turns out, after going to Intimacy here in Chicago, I'm a 34C... a LONG way off from an "A" cup.
17nice post!love lingerie!
18Good idea Miami Gal! Will def do that..hmmmm
19I love this post! Spanx are the best for sucking you up and in, too.
20I hate Victoria's Secret because contrary to having people like Tyra Banks model their stuff, it's INCREDIBLY difficult to find things that fit large-busted women. And the saleswomen are beyond rude.
And their return policy SUCKS.
21I would KILL for a strapless bra that actually lifts and supports.
22Lane Bryant makes a pretty good strapless bra that lifts and supports, but it's obscenely expensive. My boobs shrink too easily to make it worth the price.
23I agree about Victoria's Secrets. It's not just the bras that don't fit right. Many of their shirts and dresses fit my lower torso but not my chest. Sigh.
24Wow! Pretty Catty.
25Well, I already did my lingerie shopping on saturday, but I guess I need to go retrack now...missed a few things here.
