Researchers like to use the scientific method to test stereotypical behavior. The latest stereotype they want to prove? That men tend to stare at women's breasts. Did they prove it? Well, sort of.
In a new study, 47 percent of the men fixated first at a woman's chest upon seeing her. Another third of the male participants glanced first at the waist and the hips, while another 20 percent looked at a woman's face first.
Going about your daily research life, have you found that men look first at your chest before they look you in the face?

34C so yes, but most people at least attempt to be discreet
1My boss does. It is REALLY uncomfortable.
2I once was talking to (ok, trying to END talking to) this semi-drunk guy at a bar who was seriously just talking right at my boobs. so I let him ask them a few questions and didn't say anything. he finally repeated himself a little louder thinking I hadn't heard, and I grabbed The Girls firmly in each hand and said, "Well, answer him, ladies, he's talking to you!"
3I don't know if they are necessarily looking at my breasts but men always give me the up and down scan before looking at my face. I'm tall.
4mamasitamalita-
5That made me laugh out loud!
haha mamasitamalita that's really funny I need to try that.
I have rather large D cup breasts so yes, the girls get a lot more attention than my face.
6Yep.. I have been noticing it more recently!
7yea, the girls are pretty big so it happens all the time.
8Maybe I should become a scientific researcher. Imagine all the money I could make proving all these unknown facts so crucial to understanding human psychology!! Men stare at breasts? Who knew? I think I'll do a study to determine whether men like having sex with women or, say, enjoy eating food.
9@Tart and Soul - lol, i'll help!
Of course men stare at my breasts, that's what they're for
Plus I work in a bar where a lot of college guys hang out, so I'd be kind of insulted if they weren't staring hahaha
10Well, they're just... spectacular!
11Not usually. I'm an A cup so they don't really stand out as much as bigger breasts would.
12I'm an A too, so, not so much. Plus I'm short, which makes it harder to stare discretely I guess. Even when I was bigger, I don't recall guys ever staring at my chest.
13I'm average size when it comes to my weight and height but mine are DD. I hate it sometimes but I can't do much about it if I don't want to get an operation to reduce them. So yes, they stare at times. I mean they are men
14I stare at boobs too. Not a big deal.
15Mamasita - love it!!
Nope actually, but then I'm 4'11 so I feel people generally stare at the top of my head when they look at me. (which is why I always make sure my hair's clean but don't bother about the hems on my trousers)
16Although I once had that coworker who'd asked me out (twice, I said no, twice) stare at my boobs when I was talking to him one day I was wearing a low cut top. I thought I'd be offended, but instead I felt like saying stupid things to see if he'd notice.
I agree with Tart and Soul. Some of these studies are way too obvious and don't really count as studies or findings. Any girl with bigger than average breasts will be looked at breast first by straight men. Men tend to notice the obvious first.
17Yes. I get the up and down scan, too. The irony is that get these from women, too. It's weird.
18Yeah, I'm a D cup. It's kind of a given that people will look, so I hide under hoodies.
19i was a d in high school, i'm a double d now and 6 feet tall, so people generally land at my boobs, but for the most part they try to look up and look me in the eye
. autumns, don't hide, it's your body be proud of it!
20also remember that people pay good money to have what you have for free
21Yes they do.
22yup. all the time.
23Nah, they're nothing special, and I make it a point not to draw attention to my chest.
I check attractive women out too, I can't blame the guys.
24At 5'8" with a well defined waist, I have 34 DD (and still growing) boobs. let me tell you. I've caught coworkers, creepers, cute guys, hots guys, women, creeper women, even gay guys. They just STARE. I make a point of staring right at them with a face that says "you thought you could get away with that?" and say when they finally regain eye contact "Excuse me. I saw that. Don't do it again" (Which is hard for a non confrontational 20 year old)
25I have an A cup. It's usually the last thing guys notice.
26Nope, and that's just another benefit to having small breasts
27Ugh, yes. I developed really early and am kind of disproportionately larger compared to the rest of mybody. I have been stared at since I was about 14. It's SO uncomfortable and I hate it. *shiver*
28I'm six foot two and 145 pounds, so people notice my height first. As far as my chest, it's only a 36b, so it's not really as noticeable as my height. When it does happen, I just take it as a compliment.
29everyone looks at my boobs they r huge
30... more like.. my lack of breasts.
31When you're an A-cup, you never get anyone staring at your boobs, but damn do I wish I was at least a C.
32Yes, it happens to me quite a bit. Once, in a club, I actually said to a man "They don't talk, I'm up here". Tacky guy.
33Well, they do, which is weird. I wear a C cup but I don't think my boobs are that 'big.' And I rarely wore any outfit with plunging neckline.
34So I don't know what's the deal, I think men just have a habit of looking at your boobs, maybe it's hardwired to their brains or something.
From a man's viewpoint: I know I "look" but I would never "stare." One is observing - and I'm just wired that way- while the other is just plain rude, tacky, etc. The whole point is not to do something that would make another person uncomfortable.
But neither would I try to pretend they didn't exist!
One thing I hate to see is when someone says something like she is "only an A-cup," when even "smaller" breasts are something a man appreciates. Don't put yourselves down, and if you think men aren't looking at your A's, well, its just because I'm being discreet!
35marcie23- I am also a DD and 6 feet tall, and yes, that's just where many people end up looking! Can't say that I blame them
3636 DD I think so
37Yup. 32D, but as I'm getting older (40 this year) I am finding I mind less. Just happy to still be in shape and appreciated.
3834DD so unfortunately yes. They are significantly larger than the rest of me and I'm rather petite so they are probably even more noticeable.
39i notice dat
