I absolutely care about Health Care, that is why I am completely against Obama's Health Care Plan. Yes, an estimated 40 million people need Health Care, but does that mean we need to subsidize excellent Health Care for the rest of us. This is NOT the same health care those big wigs are getting, not in the least. And since when can the government run anything? Look at Cash for Clunkers, a prime example of government dysfunction at its finest. Plus, the fact that there are so many downfalls to the program that hurt other people, such as the local mechanic, charities, junk yard for the parts. The backlash of that is just beginning. Many of the car companies who sold the cars have yet to be reimbursed by the government. But what are people going to do that work for all those evil insurance companies? Yes, we need reform but this not the answer, NO THANK YOU!

The issue that I have with the health care plan is that it will hurt all of the people that get great insurance through their jobs. I don't want to have the same run of the mill insurance when I'm paying a good amount of my money each month to have incredible coverage. I shouldn't be penalized because some people who do not have jobs get insurance. But I do think people have the right to be healthy and cared for. But do not agree that EVERYONE should be on the same plan if they don't want to be.

Plus the Social Security issue, medicare, and the amount of Family Physicians is all a very scary subject looking forward.

this is annoying: president obama has CLEARLY stated OVER AND OVER AGAIN that if you like your private healthcare plan, you can keep it. having a public option that ANYONE can join, no matter their age or pre-existing condition will only encourage private health insurance to provide it's customers with better healthcare if they want to keep them. private health insurance STILL exists in countries like england and canada where they have public insurance, so obviously not ALL of the poor, poor insurance people who decide to cancel your insurance when your care gets to be too expensive will be out of a job. the difference is public and private health insurance in those countries is cheaper. and only one third of the public option plan will be subsidized by taxpayers and those taxpayers will only be making $350,000 a year and up. and let me tell you that ISN'T a financial bracket MOST americans are in, particularly in this recession. i don't know what it's going to take for rethugs to accept this.

@urbanchic101- nice try, trying to derail the subject matter, because what the hell does cash for clunkers have to do with healthcare reform? as long as we're derailing why did bush manufacture a war in iraq with fake weapons of mass destruction and a false raising of the terrorist threat level RIGHT before the 2004 election? derailing and using red herrings don't make any damn sense, do they?

Sloane220. Nice! Your information on the topic is refreshing. I agree with a change. They have this system in the Netherlands. You can still get private if you like and then there are four public options to choose from. All prescriptions are about $20. And co-pays still exists at about $20. Although over there the 18 and under are covered for free. As far as pay goes for the doctors there, according to statistics they make more there than here, and then also the health care there is excellent. One thing I would like to add is insurance companies in Europe are not allowed to use pre-exisiting conditions. It's against the law there. When my husband needed surgery in the Netherlands (Where he was born and raised) he had surgery immediately with no waiting period. I would encourage people to look at what these other countries have done and try to see it is working very well.
