It was reported that singer Lily Allen suddenly started crying onstage at a concert over the weekend in Helsinki, Finland. She told the audience that the pain meds she was on for a nasty fall were making her wonky.
I hardly cry at all now — except during the rare PMS-induced crying jags that can be prompted by anything, including cute pictures of kittens or over-the-top romantic movies. But I did have what you could call a crying phase. Between high school and moving away to college, I was nervous, excited, on edge — and would cry at the drop of a hat. I've always been glad that I never broke down and cried at work; I hear this is a no-no professionally.
The thing with crying, though, is that you usually can't control it once it starts! Do you cry easily? Have you ever regretted crying somewhere you wish you hadn't?

I cry more easily when happy, not sad. But in general I don't cry much at all.
1I used to cry heaps, at almost anything. Now I'm not so bad, but emotional scenes on tv or in the movies get me sniffling a little bit.
2I cried when I watched the teaser trailer for Toy Story 3.... yeah that pretty much sums it up.
3The only time I went for an extended period without crying was my first year of college. I was so darn excited to get out of the house and I was having the time of my life. Now I cry all the time. I've only cried once at work, the day after my boyfriend broke up with me. I was in an office full of girls so it wasn't a big deal.
4I cry when I am drunk -- usually at nostalgic things, like a certain TV show or song. Other than that, I don't really cry.
5I cry EVERY time I watch the end of 'Little Giants'. Seriously, it never ever fails... i bawl like a baby I'm so happy for them hahahahaha
6Sort of...I think that I cry easily, but I loathe crying in front of people so it's usually pretty private.
7I didnt use to cry all the time, but now I do, at books, movies, tv..I dont cry when I'm happy though.
8Actually, haha, I'm in tears right now. Yes, I cry easily. I do it on a weekly basis, usually over minor frustrations and disappointments (that don't seem so minor at the time).
9I cry pretty easily, but I can usually keep it together in public.
I did cry at work last month on the day that my cat was put to sleep. I had warned my coworkers that I might be a mess that day, so they were prepared.
10Honestly I think the last time I cried was my freshman year of college.
11YES i do! but never in front on people... at least almost never
12I cry for everything!
13I can usually control it. Sometimes it's tough.
14I just can't let myself cry in public but I'm generally a cryer. I cry over books, TV, and movies more than anything though.
15I normally don't cry very much unless I am very upset about something.
16I used to never cry, but now since I'm so stressed, I cry a lot. It's irritating really. Thankfully, I can't cry in front of people.
17I cry really easy at sappy and sad movies (my boyfriend and friends won't stop making fun of me for it).
And I cry pretty easy when I'm upset in real life, especially when I'm under a lot of stress.
18I cry more now than I used to but still less than the average girl. I cry two to three times a year. It is usually PMS related.
19I cry more when I'm stressed out about a lot of things, and then the little things keep piling on. Which has been a lot lately. I really hate it. And I hate crying in front of people. I did cry at work once, but that's actually because one of my bosses was very mean and nasty to me one day for no real reason. Unfortunately, I was working with a couple of boys that day and they had no idea what to do with me, lol. But they were nice about it.
20Alllll the time... most recently at an SPCA commercial (those always get me)... I can't make it thru 5 minutes of Extreme Makeover Home Edition without bawling like a baby. The trailer for Where the Wild Things Are got me too. It's funny cos with real-life situations I can usually hold off until an appropriate time to vent, but I'm really deeply affected by happy or sad imagery on tv.
21I cry at almost everything, especially when being confronted. Big pain in the ass considering I'm on my way to be a business manager. I need to get over it!
22If I don't sleep well, I cry at anything!
23I cry a lot - happy, sad or even when I get really mad or frustrated. I cry reading books, watching movies or shows, and especially at shows like "Animal Cops" or documentaries on animal abuse or endangered species struggling to survive.
I also cried a lot during my husband's kidney surgeries and my first day back to work after that I cried off and on all day - I think it was the stress of taking care of him during and after that period and then the sudden release of the 24/7 demand.
I have to say, I love a good cry.
24I cry very easily! Happy and sad tears. Movies almost ALWAYS make me cry. Even the cheesy ones. I recall crying during an in-flight movie, that's how bad it gets...
25babyhood aside, i've never cried in my life. no joke. my eyes will water, maybe 2 tears will fall and that's it. it's not something i'm proud of, i just think it's odd.
26Sometimes. I cry when I get sentimental -- happy or sad. According to my family and friends, that happens often. But to me, it's only sometimes.
27oh man i'm such a crier. so badly. Everything makes me cry nowadays! i'd say it was Birthdontrol to blame, but it didn't kick in until After i had been off of BC for a significant period of time...
actually, I think i can realistically say it was after i had someone attack me for the first time. dude was so drunk out of his mind that he tried to beat me (and mostly succeeded) but ever since then i've been a really easy crier.. huh.
28yogaforlife OMG. ANIMAL COPS. uuughh. just thinking about it makes me eyes water, those poor animals! it's so sad!!
29I cry at everything. I was in my director's office the last time I cried, discussing my status at work. I wish I knew how to get a grip on my emotions and choke it back, because I feel like a moron each time it happens. I know exactly what I want to say, I just can't help it when I feel the tears coming... it makes me feel so weak.
30Sometimes I just can't control when I cry. Example: I am a student and last week I had to tell my new supervisor that I wasn't going to be able to come into work as planned for 2 weeks in August due to personal reasons involving my parents (they said they wouldn't help pay my tuition unless I came home and visited them). He said all this crap about how the whole program was going to be canceled if I left and it would be my fault and mentioned that I made a promise and was letting everyone down. I ended up speaking to the head of the whole department and she told me that simply wasn't true and was like, "go home hon! I understand if you need to go see your parents". I was so relieved I started getting teary and then just started crying in her office! I had been worrying for days that I was going to get bad references from my job and that I would have no money for school! Luckily she didn't seem to care at all but I still felt kind of bad that I started crying
31Anybody remember the EToys commercials? Where the grandfather is pushing the little girl in the wheelbarrow? And they were playing that Over the Rainbows song? I used to cry seeing those commercials.
Oh, I cried watching the preview for that movie "The Cove".
I'm definitely a crier.
32I hardly ever cried up until I entered my 30s. For some reason, I've gotten softer in my old age.
33Lately my cries have been all sentimental, weddings, babies, sweet memories...it's crazy to me that we cry when we are sad, and when we are happy. I wish it was just one or the other!
34I cry buckets and usually at the worst times- i.e when I get into an argument and I really want to be screaming at the person instead.
35Not that I'm pleased to hear that everyone is crying, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't help the water works sometimes.
36JOCUPCAKE ,your face looks familiar ... have you been on a tv show? ooo 've got it : real world australia !!
37Me too Genesis!! That makes me even more angry and I cry harder too..
38I cry alot, but I'm pretty good at controlling it in front of people other than my immediate family and bf.
I cry over tv shows, movies, books..commercials (the WWF one with the polar bears gets me every time!)
Glad I'm not the only weepy one out there..
I think I am mostly incapable of crying, and it's not a nice thing because sometimes I really want to.
39Geez, I cry at commercials, happy things, sad things, etc. I cry most often when I'm angry about something and know there's nothing I can do about it. Frustration tears are the worst and give me a headache.
40Wow. I also feel better reading that I'm not the only crier out there. I don't feel ashamed or embarassed about crying over books or movies, but it is incredibly frustrating to cry over work issues. I cry when I'm frusturated, stressed, confrontation, angry. I don't think I've ever had happy tears though.
It's embarassing to me getting so upset over little things!
41Also wanted to add I hate the puffy eyes the next day and the red face at the time. Even if I can get the tears under control, it's pretty obvious I've been crying!
Books and movies are funny though. There's been times when I've had to stop reading the book I'm crying so much! I cried through 3/4 of Sex and the City movie. How odd!
42I cry SO easily when singing along to sad songs. Not usually when people are around though.. there are only about 3 people that have ever seen me cry.
But I know I'll never even sing Cats in the cradle at a karaoke bar
43This was a relief for me to read all of these comments. I am a total crier! I have been known to cry at animated movies (Happy Feet, UP, etc) it's embarrassing. Sometimes if I go too long without crying I feel like I have to watch a sad movie or something to release the emotions. I usually cry once a month over something that has built up inside me over time. I want to support the generalization about PMSing and unfortunately agree with the theory that women are more emotional around that time. I definitely am.
44Once in a while. I can never seem to cry at good byes though.
45I can walk away for some reason. But I cry about other things.
Frustrations, work, sometimes a great movie. Life. It's normal.
it doesn't take much for me. when i was a little girl ,i cried on charlie brown's snoopy come home.
