"[They're] carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on health care."
— Nancy Pelosi questioned the legitimacy of people protesting healthcare reform yesterday. Those opposed to the reform proposed by Democratic lawmakers are carrying out protests inside townhall meetings being held by Democratic members of Congress in their home districts this Summer. The DNC has countered by releasing an ad that characterizes the "right-wing extremist Republican base" as an angry mob.
To see that ad, which hits back at the same protesters Nancy Pelosi refers to, read more.

She needs to step down with comments like that coming out of her mouth. I question the legitimacy of her qualifications to even represent the American people, much less open her big mouth to be speaker
1I agree that extremists are incredibly obnoxious, but they are found on both sides, not just Republican. And I'm sorry, Nancy Pelosi is so darn creepy. She just gives me the willies!
2This ad makes me uncomfortable. I am not a partisan person whatsoever.. I'm just a regular American. People need to realize that the extremists that are in that ad does not adequately represent the general American population. The people protesting at town meetings are lower/middle class Americans who are scared of the healthcare plan. As someone who is 24 years old- I am terrified of this plan..it's not going to help anyone in the long run, our quality of health will go down. Right now our healthcare system is sorta like a bottle of water. If only some people take sips from that bottle of water they not only will get water but they'll get a thrist-quenching sip. Now the new plan wouldn't increase the number of bottles of water..you'd still have just ONE bottle..but now you're sharing it with everyone in America- you'd be lucky to even get a drop- still won't fulfill you in anyway though.
Just keep an open mind about it...this ad is very very wrong. It's the administrations way to keep control on everyone to make them think that anyone who has a different opinion against them is wrong..and that's not true. I'm hoping that the healthcare plan will change into something more manageable...and hopefully the government will start listening to ALL Americans...not just the ones that already agree with them.
3When communities organize, Community Organizers cannot b*tch. Nancy the American people do not want the Universal rationing of health care shoved down their throats, if this plan is so damn good, then you and you Family go on it. We will see if you do. I doubt it.
4I agree with her that the mob is getting out of control, but it's not like all the loonies out there are Republicans. I don't understand why these people are going to these meetings when they don't want to listen to anything their rep has to say. Unless they can get up there and make a speech of their own it's not like their changing anyone's mind. It's just a waste of time.
5These mobs are not out of control...they're not even MOBS...they're people...and its not them ignoring their reps, its the reps ignoring them! And they are making speeches of their own at these town meetings...that's the WHOLE point of these town meetings... the last thing anyone should ever say is that regular people voicing their opinions at town meetings (which is what they're suppose to do! their reps aren't their professors, the reps are hired and work FOR the people) is a waste of time and that they're mobs...both points are further from the truth and just highlights the point the 3rd person was saying that liberals are becoming ignorant
6When Bush was president, dissent was the highest form of patriotism. Now that Obama's in charge, it's "how dare you disagree!" People should protest as loudly as they can at these meetings- maybe they can get through to some of these deaf-to-the-people congressmen and senators that this is a bad bill.
7Genesis, I was under the impression that the idea of a town hall was for the representatives to hear what the people had to say. It's not just one more opportunity for them to give speeches. But some of them don't want to hear what the people have to say if those people disagree with them.
Calling them a 'mob' is unnecessary and misleading. They are not destroying property, they are not hurting people, they are just trying to have their voices heard, because our President and many of our other representatives don't seem to want to hear them. They'd rather pretend dissent does not exist except in the form of lies and extremists, and that's obviously not the case.
