Everyone gets stressed out, whether it be about your demanding boss, your messy boyfriend, your overdue credit card bill, or your mom always nagging about when you are going to get married. When things are stressing us out, people deal in different ways.
Here are some popular ways in which people let loose:
- Have a drink (or 3) - this eases your nerves and makes you temporarily forget about your problems, even though you know they'll still be there in the morning. (Just make sure not to overdo it and never drink and drive!)
- Clean - if your mind is cluttered with thoughts or problems, getting rid of the physical clutter in your office or home can ease mental clutter brilliantly.
- Exercise - Working out gives many people a chance to exert pent-up energy, and also gives them a chance to be alone with their thoughts.
- Talk to someone - Whether you make a lunch date with a trusted friend or pay a therapist to listen to you, sometimes all you need is to get your feelings out of your head.

- Get some "me" time - sometimes you need to get away from everyone and do your own thing. Read a book, take a bath, or write in your journal - focusing on yourself can empower and calm you down.
- Get organized - make a list, get information, make a phone call, or do something that will help your stressful situation.
- Go somewhere peaceful like the beach, on a park bench, or under a tree, even just take a drive -- anything to be alone and get away from what ever is bothering you.
These are just a few ways people deal with stress, so I want to know: What do you do?

Cleaning always clears my head.
and i'm lucky enough to work in an office full of therapists, social workers, and psychologists, so if i'm having any problem at all i have a lot of people i can talk to.
1I have a drink or clean. Blogging or writing in my journal always helps too.
2i eat. i know it's bad but that's the best coping mechanism i've found. it doesn't even have to be something sweet/fattening/tasty.. i just need to have something in my mouth to chew up and swallow. ice cubes, apples, carrots and other hard foods are my friends!
3unfortunately, when i can't get them, i snack on bread.
I Sleep. It always helps. If I had a bad day at work, the first thing I do when I get home is put on my jammies and lie down with a book and read, then take a nap for a couple of hours. I always wake up feeling relaxed and ready to solve whatever problem is bothering me.
4I clean, call someone, or drink haha. If i am really stressed, it makes me sleepy and i sleep a lot.
5I should add, that when i sleep alot from being too stressed, i dream about work, which is my source of stress most times, and then it really isn't an escape...
6With my high blood pressure medication. It keeps me nice and calm.
7I give myself some ME time. It almost always helps. After that I usually drink while talking to friends--multitasking...
8I am a strong believer that exercise the the best way to relieve stress. Sugar...do you think its a good idea to suggest alcohol for this?
9Journaling is a great way to deal with stress. It's like self-therapy. I also like to call a friend and talk to them about whatever's troubling me.
10I go for a walk or do yoga.
I really don't think alcohol is a reasonable way to deal with stress. I mean lots of drugs probably have the effect of destressing you, but that doesn't mean it's a healthy way to go.
11I clean or sit outside to just try and get my thoughts together. Yea...I was surprised to see alcohol as the first way for people to de-stress.
12I clean, exercise or talk to someone. :]
13I usually eat. If I get super stressed, or for an extended period of time, then cleaning and exercise do the trick. I wish I could channel that into the normal stress times.
14bath time and journal writing help me unwind and clear my head respectively.
15cleaning works wonders
16Oy I wish I knew, I'm currently terrified by my situation and the choices I have to make, and for the first time nothing works. Because of my studies I spend my time reading, and my brain is always free to wander and freak out. I wish I could find something that keeps me mentally busy!
17Relaxation and reiki do help, but ten minutes later I start freaking out again. Blocking any stressful ideas can work, but they're likely to all come back sooner or later!
I usually channel my stress into something productive like writing or cleaning or cooking. But there are also times when the only thing that makes me feel better is to scream and yell about what's stressing me out. That can feel really good sometimes!
18tv, eating, talking to my boyfriend, talking to my friends...i actually don't really deal well with stress...
