This month 27-year-old Ash Roughani launched the California Moderate Party, a new political party apparently dedicated to results instead of ideology. The new party is hoping to gain support from middle-of-the-road voters who are tired of having to choose between the lesser of two evils. The party currently stays away from "divisive issues such as gay marriage, abortion, and the death penalty."
Traditionally, third party candidates rarely win major offices. But wouldn't it be refreshing to have a viable third party to diversify the political debate in the US? Would you vote for a third party candidate that better represented your views?

I think that we have two versions of the same party, the corporate party. I am not so thrilled with the Democrats being enthralled to corporate power. But, I also think that third parties are unfortunately not viable under our "winner-take-all" system. I would be very much in favor of changing our system to proportional representation, as they have in Europe. That would make the whole system more responsive to liberals and conservatives alike.
I am certainly not a Republican, but if I were, I'd be uber pissed at the way the lunatic fringe has hijacked the party with Gods, gays and guns. They would benefit as well.
1It's not so much that my party represents my views as I don't want to throw away my vote in this idiotic 2 party system. We'll never get a viable third party that could ever win seats. I wish we had a parliament for this very reason.
2I've never liked the way the American government system works...here in Canada, we have multiple parties, and I think it's a better system than just having two options. Of course, people only really ever vote for the Conservatives or the Liberals, and very rarely for the Green Party or the NDP (the third largest party), and no Prime Minister will ever come from the Green Party or the NDP, because not enough people vote for them.
3I will vote for a third party and I DID vote for a third party in the 08 election - Bob Barr. I voted for him because his views most closely resembled mine and I didn't feel like it was right to vote democrat or republican just because the 3rd party wasn't going to win. You don't know how many times I was told that I was "throwing away my vote" but it was the best one for me.
4I vote with the party that is the closest with what I believe is best for me and the nation, regardless of being a registered Democrat.
