I'm still trying to make sense of the bombshell Sarah Palin dropped over the weekend. At first I thought Palin must have her eyes set on political office outside of Alaska and doesn't want her duties as governor to hold her back. No longer stuck in Alaska, she'll be able to travel the country if she decides she wants to run for president. But after watching her nervously announce her resignation, the decision to quit didn't come off as a well thought-out plan to win the presidency in 2012. It seemed more like political suicide!
Prominent Republicans can't seem to agree what this means for her future either. Karl Rove said he was "a little perplexed" by Palin's move, but conservative pundit Bill Kristol thinks she made a good decision in a "world where people don't value years of experience in Washington, or even conceivably two terms as governor of Alaska." As for Rush Limbaugh, he said: "I think these people saying she's an instant target because she quit is just inside the beltway formulaic. And she's not that."

Sarah Palin probably wants a political future, but I think most sane people know she is totally unworthy of any political position. She acts like an idiot, is not very personable, and has no problem showing people with her words and behavior that she is lacking the key traits you need to make it in the political world.
1Disclaimer: I'm not a fan of her politics.
I don't think she had much of a political future BEFORE this move - a lot of people within the party don't seem to like her. Does anyone know what she is going to do next?
2God, who knows? I think she resigned because a giant political scandal is coming down the pipe.
There is something seriously withered and dead about a woman who makes a career fighting against women's rights. I say, good riddance.
3I find it sad I didn't know about this till yesterday. Mostly cause Olberman wasn't on and tressugar didn't post anything about it!
4I said no, but not for the reason that was given-
5just in general think by the next go round of president stuff, there will be a new face and she's gonna be too "old republican" by then. Hopefully-
She mentioned a "higher calling;" her Lt Gov says she's bowing to financial pressures brought about from the ethics investigations against her (they were costing the state $2 million just for the staff that checks documents). Some political Web sites have her looking for a national talk show spot. Betcha Fox has one for her. As for whether she's out or not, I'd be surprised if she didn't make a go of the Murowski's Senate seat when the time comes up. That would put her in the public eye if she really has presidential ambitions. It would be easy to write off her decision to step down as governor as a family decision. (Granted, she seems to be the whoring her kids out to every rag that will take a picture and seems to bring a lot of negative press upon herself.) I find her distasteful but a lot of people find her plain-spoken politics (read: saying any dumb thing she wants) to be refreshing. They thought the same thing about Dubya and wasn't that was a fun ride?
6Honestly no, but I don't really care anymore? I got way to many things to think about and Sarah Palin isn't one of them.
7She is not qualified to be in the public eye. She screwed it up even more for the republicans. Thank you Palin
8Palin is a polarizing figure, but people who love her will love her no matter what, and people who hate her will hate her for any reason at all.
There is a place for her in politics, but not on a national or federal level. She is perfect though for Fox News
9i bet in a week and half she decides to unquit being governor, just thought, lol!!
10Sure. It's what she says and does that she hasn't said and done yet that will determine to what extent.

12I really hope not.
13Nope. She's not nearly as poised or composed as candidates past, and her decisions and actions have the effect of inflicting disease. It's obvious she can't cope with the media--an important element of a democracy. She seems to want to control the media so that it is uncritical of her, claiming absurd conspiracy theories about media bias. (hmm. And isn't she threatening to sue several significant media outlets, not including Fox News?). This popular concern that she'll quit her presidency half way through her term is a significant one.
Despite her high visibility, at this point most people seem to favor Mitt Romney as the 2012 republican presidential candidate. Won't matter though. Even if Obama's approval ratings decrease significantly, the GOP has shot itself in the foot, making it clear that they're a party of crazies (who think there's a scientific community-led conspiracy to spread the "global warming hoax"). The party is in disarray, is being largely viewed as irrational, and won't recover from this for some time until they reform to be more relevant to the social climate.
14Can I vote c, "Good lord I hope not?"
15Please, please, please just go away now, madam crazypants.
FAIL.
16Regardless of what I think of her politics (which is not much), she has no poise, and does not come off as remotely intelligent. I refuse to believe that she could ever achieve greater political standing than the one she just left behind.
17Where's the option for "Dear lord, let this woman finally go away now"
18Who honestly cares why she quit. I just hope this means we will start hearing less about her in the news. Palin will do anything for attention. Her time to go far away was a loooong time ago. I'm glad she's finally seeing that we're all tired of her.
19I don't think she has a political future because she is not very likable.
20Assuming she runs against people who HAVEN'T quit their jobs in the middle??? She is toast.
21Pitbull in lipstick...
22I don't know. She's certainly 'different.' But good luck to whatever she chooses to do next.
23I'm not a fan of her politics but I don't dislike her to the point of excessively insulting her or try to get into her head by analyzing what she's going to do next. LOL.
I don't care one way or another but I'm just making an observation. It's interesting how when it comes to men people are attracted to the (regular Joe) over the polished politician. However, it seems when it comes to women a regular Joette looks like a foo against a polished female politician.
24I don't think she had much of one to begin with, aside from being stuck in Alaska, that is.
We had 8 years of incopetence already, I don't think the country (side from her fanbase) wants another 8. And she's too polarized. I don't like her because of pretty much everything she stands for and promises (granted, I'm pretty liberal... while there are a couple things I might side with the conservatives on, I'm borderline socialist). I do hope she gets the Republican ballot for president, unless Obama fails miserably... because if she does, we know the Dems are in office for another 4 years.
And her daughter bugs me. She seems to be using her daughter (and grandchild) as political puppets, and nothing more. Like, when she was trying to get elected, her daughter went with a kind of "middle of the road" opinion on sex ed, then once Palin lost the vice presidential ticket, her daughter started to cheer "abstinance only!!!11"
25I hope she does not. Should she make a bid for presidency in 2012 and win, I'll move to Saturn.
I have a very negative view of Palin and I'll leave it at that.
26i was interested in her at first, but the more i heard her speak the more i realized this woman was just not likeable.
i think she's dunzo. to me this just shows that she cannot cope w/ being in the public eye, leading me to believe she won't be able to hack it as president. at least finish your term with your head held high, then move on to something else. america doesn't respond well to quitters.
27A political future? She doesn't even have a political present.
28Clearly she does not have a properly functioning brain.
29I don't think so. But America is full of undereducated, classless, hypocritical boobs just like her. So you just never know.
30The daughter is more likeable than she is. Republicans hate her because she has no eloquence, she is not likeable, she is inept at her job. All in all, i dont even know how she got as far as she did.
