You know how they say you shouldn't drink too much at work gatherings? After hearing this following story from a friend, I've decided I may stick to Perrier at my next official work party out of contact paranoia!
So this woman took her fun boyfriend to a work party, and after a couple beers, the guy (who apparently has no filter even when sober) started telling off-color jokes — to her conservative boss! Horrified at what was unfolding, the girlfriend elbowed him in the ribs, mumbled some sort of apology, and dragged him away.
The next morning, she apologized to her boss and told her he wasn't usually like that, but the damage is probably done. Have you ever witnessed something like this, or put your foot in your mouth while telling a dumb joke? How did it all turn out?

2a friend an i dated guys that worked together, and we heavily overindulged in the free wine at their company christmas party... we thought it was hilarious, but the boys were not amused
3I've seen it all. It usually always involves alcohol. I live in the south. A loooooong time ago when I was first here I went to a company party with a boyfriend. His company was really large but sort of a bunch of rednecks. They had a big Christmas party and things ensued you wouldn't believe. A Madonna dance contest. Grown women drunk and competing dressed up like Madonna on a big dance floor. One fell on her a**. One of the executives got drunk and played in a band on stage ending with smashing his guitar on stage. I still wonder what he was on. There was also some office affair declared at some point while I was standing there.
4Luckily where I work what happens outside of regular business hours has no affect on anything. If my boss or co-works thought my bf acted like an idiot they would just tell me. I wouldn't be worried about my job security in the least.
5It is almost always the booze. BUT, I have done stuff like this completely sober. Recently I was telling a good friend a sad story about somebody I knew who had a boyfriend problem, when I realized it was almost the exact problem my friend was having too. And I was criticizing the person in my story, it just sounded soooo bad, so I tried to cover it up when I realized my stupidity.
6I wasn't tipsy and not on a date...but I once told a dead baby joke to a group of girls, forgetting that one of them was trying to get pregnant at the time. She later wrote me a long email telling me how insensitive I was. OOPS.
7lets face it.. jokes that arent offensive aren't funny. dead baby jokes are great. just because you tell a sexist or racist joke doesnt mean you really beleive those things.
