18-year-old Kimberley Vlaminck from Courtrai, Belgium, is suing a tattoo artist for tattooing 56 stars to the left side of her face. (That's a person in solidarity up there, not Kimberley.) She claims she only wanted three stars — but that she fell asleep during the procedure. (How does that even happen?) Well, as quick as the news hit, there were already admirers.
If you want to show support for Kimberley Vlaminck, why not Kimberlize yourself? No muss, no fuss. But more importantly, share pics or stories of your best or worst tattoos in comments below.

Well, it's not really horrifying, although he was annoyed at the time - a friend of mine has 'invictus' tattooed right behind his knee. The tattoo artist went a little too deep and hit a muscle in his leg, which made the muscle jump, so one of the letters is higher than the rest. It's still a nice tattoo, though.
Good tattoo story - my best friend's husband (good lord, saying that makes me sound old!) got a very lame and ill-thought out tribal arm band at 18, and of course he hated it not too long after. Last summer, this tattoo artist Michele (who also did mine, and his wife's) drew up this INCREDIBLE custom phoenix piece that goes up his arm and up his shoulder, resting it's head on his collarbone. It's gorgeous, and she's so talented. She worked the tribal design into the feather patterns so well that you literally do not know it was there unless someone tells you.
If you're in the area/in the market for a tattoo, definitely check out Fat Kat Tattoos in Keyport, NJ - they're awesome!
1I don't have any tats, though I know most of the people who do have them got them after some alcohol-fueled antics [not while driving, of course!]. This story is kind of hilarious though...from 3 to 56?!
How the heck do you fall asleep? It was only THREE stars!
That laser removal is going to cost a pretty penny [if she can even GET them off her face!]...
2I'm interested in these stories too..
3margokhal, I was thinking the same thing.
Laser isn't a miracle worker. Some tattoos get removed completely, others don't . I have a feeling that if she does end up getting them all lasered, the shadows of the stars would still be there. I had a tattoo on my wrist lasered, and you could still see the shadow of a heart. However, the one on my ankle is completely gone.
As for my story:
4My friend thinks that New Jersey is the best state out there, so she got the state tattooed right behind her left (or right, I can't remember) shoulder. She also had them put a yellow brass knuckle right in the center. The funny thing is, there's a local high school football team call the cougars and their symbol is a yellow paw print. At a first glance, the brass knuckles on my friend's tattoo looks like a cougar symbol. I dunno, we both find this hilarious and people in the area always assume she knows someone on the football team.
There is absolutely NO way she fell asleep during this...I have tattoos on my feet, which I'm thinking is about the same skin to bone depth and probably along the same lines of pain...if anything the face is more..no way.
Anyway, I have no terrible stories about my tattoos but my mother has a pretty amusing one...
5She went to get a hummingbird with a hibiscus flower on her right shoulder blade done. The guy tattooed the outline for the tail feathers and half of the spine when my mom said she started feeling lightheaded and dizzy. He stopped for a minute for her and when he asked if she wanted him to start again and she wouldn't let him! So my mom has tail feathers and part of a bird spine on her back...it's really light and kind of only looks like pencil marks when you see it quickly but it's pretty amusing.
Tattoos really look good when you get older.
6Have you ever seen a faded and exploding rose on the sagging arm of a 40 year old woman?
Getting something permanent is horrifying enough, never seen any tatoos on a woman that didn't make them look cheap in some way.
7I'd never get a tattoo. But my friend has several, including an eye on the back of each knee. No joke - they wink when she walks. Cool now, but will look completely bizzare in about 15 years. Maybe less.
8it's been suggested that the story isn't real though. The media here have got word that the Kimberlizer was online within 24 hrs, produced by an ads company called MNM that also had the scoop and numerous interviews on their radio channel, AND holds a star in their logo...
