In Glamour magazine's March 2007 issue, a group of women were surveyed to see what the average age was for a women to lose her virginity. You might be surprised to know that 17 was the magic number, despite all the stories we hear in the news of younger and younger kids experimenting sexually. While I happen to think that 17 is a respectable age to lose your virginity, what I want to know is: When did you lose your virginity?

it was a month after i turned 17. it was a weird experience.
1I dunno....17 still seems awful young to me
2I''m still a virgin i haven't decided whether to wait till marriage or do it when i feel it's right. Marriage seems to be winning cos there are so many losers in these here parts.
3I was 20.
4Where's the option before the age of fifteen?
5wedding night - was 19
617
7i was 15 (eek), but i wasn't dumb about it. i was with that guy for a long time (by high school standards), and i always used the pill. been on it ever since. i've never had an std or gotten pregnant, so i don't regret anything other than the stigma of being too young. but a stigma is how other people perceive me, not how i perceive myself. and i'm okay with my decisions.
8Not yet.
9I'm like nyar, I'm on the fence between wanting to wait for marriage or just the right moment.
14. I was raped by an ex.
10I wish I had waited till marriage so my advice to the girls saying they are undecided...wait. I had every intention to until I fell in love...and ultimately my heart was broken. Now that is a long story in itself but...I would wait.
11I was 18. My friends had all lost it around 14/15 so I was eager to do it early in my relationship but my boyfriend (who was not a virgin) actually suggested we waited a bit and I'm so glad we did. I would say age doesn't matter, its all about about the relationship...oh.and..being smart about it of course..=P
12jesus hel.. that flippin sucks. hope that dude is STILL in jail. :/
I was 17 1/2 when I lost my virginity. I was with my boyfriend at the time.
13Jeez, 15-18 is the highest vote so far?!? Come on, you guys, you're so young!!! I was 19. I didn't wait until I was married and I wish I had, so those of you who are on the fence, DON'T DO IT!!!
14I was 16, and I wish I hadn't lost it to my bf at the time. What a jerk.
15I'm so sorry, fluffyhelen. I really hope that it haunts him for ever.
I lost my virginity at 18, so I wasn't sure of the category to choose. I ended up marrying the man I lost my virginity to, as well.
16I was 16 at the time. Even though the guy and I don't talk much any more, he is a respectable person. The time was definitely right for both of us. I don't have any regrets
1720 - first boyfriend of 2 yrs who i jus found out cheated on me.. `=T
18I was 18...and it's a long story. :/
19Not yet.
20Not yet and not waiting for marriage. Just haven't found that guy who I feel comfortable with...
21I haven't lost mine yet, but I am waiting until I am married and that I am positive with the decision.
22I was 17. I think that was the right time for me and have no regrets.
23I was 16, almost 17. I wish I had waited longer though, it didn't mean anything until I was 19.
2420 yrs for me, after a 1.5 year of dating my yet dating-boyfriend (we're going on our 3rd year!
). I didn't want to be one of those girls that lost their virginity to someone, and not be mature enough to handle if we ever broke up and be one
of those girls that are crying about how they lost their virginity to someone that didn't ever care about them. My boyfriend, while having had lost his virginity long before that, was
understanding that it wouldn't be a glorious experience and understood that I would want/need to go slow.
25I think with all the movies and music out there, it makes it easier for girls to say what the heck and do it...I know that in The Woodlands Texas..(My High School) I can't remember anyone of my friends that was still a virgin..and they were from all types of religions..Catholic, Morman, Prodestant, Jewish...I think when you have everyone around you saying that they're doing it and you have all these guys out there that EXPECT you to do it..it makes it hard to say No sometimes...I wish girls were strong enough to love their bodies more than trying to fit in or please someone else.
2617, i don't regret it except my bf at the time ended up being a jerk. my bf now is wonderful and sometimes i wish my first time could have been with him instead.
27I was 22... I wasn't even into the guy, I was just sick of folks acting like being a 22-year-old virgin was a big deal. I wish I had waited... I'm 32 now and I still wish I was still a virgin.
2816, way too young looking back. Definitely would have at 18 anyway, just regret it wasn't him!
2919 and it's not one to remember. A little bit of pressure was involved. I will admit that I did feel obliged to have sex with him though I wanted to wait. The setting was pathetic. At my bf's parents house outside on the grass with a blanket. We were interrupted the whole time by his dad calliing him to help with something. Then he just turned out to be the biggest psychotic idiot ever. He was so jealous and possessive over me. I didn't have a life of my own. I was verbally abused. Black-mailed and manipulated by him. Young and stupid. I know. Never will I go down that road. Sucker for punishment.
30I am still a virgin!
31I was raped when I was fourteen, but my current best friend/boyfriend made me realize that rape doesn't constitute as "losing my virginity."
In which case! I am still a virgin, and I will stay a virgin until I'm absolutely positive I'm ready.
I want to know it's love, I want to know it'll last, and I want there to at least be the prospect of marriage.
32I was 20 and I was one of the last ones of my friends to do it. I waited till I was in a loving relationship. No regrets!
33I was 19 and it was right after I had gotten engaged. We had been together almost a year before that and I'm glad we waited. I'm 21 now and we're getting married in 2009.
34summer before junior year of high school..........had just lost 80 pounds in a summer program -- i had the fight the boys off with a stick! it ended up being with some random guy that i met through friends. I figured that i should just get it over with. i really wish i would have waited though, because 2 months later when school started i met my first love
35A month after I turned 18. He's my first real boyfriend and we're still together.
36I'm wating till I'm married so I can save it for that special someone =)
37i totally agree w/ you spit! so many girls are losing their virginity these days because of peer pressure and "everyone else is doing it" im still a virgin and im waiting till marriage
38oh vpp, ohemgee and fluffy, that's terrible, i'm sorry to hear that you were hurt that way. fluffy, the exact same thing happened to my best friend when she was 12! =(
yay for all those waiting for the right time, i think that's a very smart and strong decision! the demand for young girls to have sex is outrageous and i commend you for having the courage to stand up to such pressure.
i was 16, it was a drunken one-night stand (not the smartest thing to do) and i've never spoken to/seen him since. i wish my first could have been with my bf now, he's fantastic (esp in bed!)
39I was 20 and ended up marrying him!
4018! I was young and ignorant then totally swept into the moment of forbidden arena and unattainable guy. on hindsight, i would have done things differently and waited for a more special guy.
41sigh...i was 18. another one that's a loooong story and i wish i hadn't done it with him since he ended up being a total jerk. wish i had waited for my next bf who was a good guy (and who's virginity I took) even though we broke up less than a year later.
and i'm sorry to all those girls that did not have the choice of when to lose their virginity. F*CK those guys! there is a special place in hell for them...
42I was 22. He was a virgin, too. We waited a few months into our relationship before doing it. He cheated on me 4 months later. I don't regret it because, even though the ending hurt, I at least got to share it with someone who I loved at the time. I wish there was a way to communicate with the 12-year-old girls these days why you shouldn't just have sex to do it and what it all means, etc.
43I was 21, and it was with my husband, although we were not married yet at the time.
4420~ with my current bf of 2 years (and friend of like..7 years..yes it was one of those friend-turned-lover situations). I was never comfortable with any other person before him, and he had to gain my complete trust first (which took a while but he was patient and caring and did eventually earn my trust) =)
45I was 20, so was my now husband. He was a virgin too. We'll celebrating our 3 year anniverary on Tuesday!
46I was 20, almost 21. I had been dating him for three months. I originally had planned to wait until I was married, but I decided against it for several reasons. One, I didn't want to make such a big deal out of it that it would be a let down when it finally happened. Plus, I figured I was going to marry him anyway, which I still plan to.
47Yeah, but anyway, I'm glad we didn't wait
I was 14....
48I was 17, I dont really regret it. However, he sucked! Lol!!
49I was 16, and I don't regret it at all. I had been with my boyfriend for a while, we were together for a year after that. We ended on good terms. I'm glad it happened how it did.
