I don't especially have any love or hate for Ahmadinejad, and it seems clear to me that this election was fixed. But - consider the following.
Throughout my lifetime. there has been a clear propaganda pattern of setting an "enemy" for the populace - Hussein, Bin Laden, Castro, and Gorbachev. It seems to me that the propeanda is meant to scare the population into supporting wars that aren't in our best interest. I think that there are some in the Pentagon that have tried to do that with Ahmadinejad.
I don't think Obama is a militarist, like Bush was. And I trust him to do the right thing. But I am very suspect of any talk that would lead us into a useless war with Iran.
1Good for the Iranian people. They've been having so many internal disputes with their own government. It is a proud day for those who oppose the government to take a stand. I have an Iranian classmate in my German language class. I'll have to ask her what she thinks of this.
2The happenings in Iran get a tiny blurb, while "heaving bosoms" gets two features.
