i looked on their website. they're an anti-homosexuality "ministry." someone doctored their sign to try to make the point that trying to change someone's ethnicity is as ridiculous as tryiing
to change their sexuality.
vegan - when you look at it that way, the sign makes more sense ("sense" as in not meant to offend like it obviously does now, with no bg knowledge)...but they should have added some text or
something to the bottom.
I like how they said that most of their staff were "former homosexuals." Hmmm...I don't know...maybe I'm just more open minded than that. I once had a gay pastor. I wonder how he viewed this
ministry.
I must be a jerk, because I think it's funny. It would be funny if it said white or any other
race too though, so I guess I'm an equal opportunity jerk.
The billboard said, "Are you Homosexual and don't want to be?". It's a legitimate question. I have several friends who have made the chose to no longer live a 'Homosexual lifestyle' and are
very happy. Whether you believe people are 'born' this way is not important. Their are people who struggle with their choices and simply want to know is their a choice. Seeing we are a
"pro-choice" society, there is no reason why someone can't offer a person a choice. That's what this organization seems to be doing. There is no reason to knock what they are doing just
because you don't believe in what they are doing. If we are to truly be "open minded", we have to accept their veiw and choice. Right?
no no no, tiggerMan, you silly. "Liberalism" only promotes free _liberal_ speech and freedom of "the right" (i.e., whacko leftist) choice. Maybe that should be "the left choice".
tiggerMan, this is the main problem with your logic: a homosexual is someone who feels sexually attracted to members of the same sex. Attraction is *not* a choice. A heterosexual man can't
just suddenly "choose" to not feel attracted to women, can he? He might be able to choose to not have sex with them, but that doesn't make him any less heterosexual. It's the same for
homosexuals. Are virgins or abstinent priests any less straight (or gay) because they don't have sex? Absolutely not. If your friends have chosen to no longer have sex with members of their
gender, fine, more power to them, live and let live - but don't think for a second that their choice makes them any less homosexual.
And, for the record, an 'open-minded', 'pro-choice' society is *not* the same thing as a 'criticism-free' society. These people have a right to voice their opinions, and so do I - the fact
that my views happen to be critical of theirs makes no difference.
Labeling this "WTF" is truly appropriate. The "Truth" ministry has got it all WRONG. if they wanted to put up an offensive billboard ad to catch someone's attention, then they sure did it.
It's so disappointing that someone actually approved this promotional material and allowed such bigotry to be displayed for the public.
This is NOT funny. But what is interesting to note is - Who is that girl on the billboard and does she know her image is being portrayed badly? If she has a problem being Asian, she can hang
out with me and I'll show an infinite number of reasons why she should be proud of her heritage and culture.
I am amazed at the jump people make. It's like they are looking for a reason to be "angry". Choose love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control... Look for a
chance to give, allow people the room to choose, and I think you will find people who are more than willing to become more than they could ever imagine. I never stated anything derogatory
towards a homosexual yet I am somehow in the wrong. I have friends who are "gay" and "straight" (whatever that means). I have friends who have "chosen" to no longer engage in same-sex and
have "chosen" to have sex with the opposite sex. They have children, live happily, and do not regret their choice. What is wrong with that. I believe we are all looking for something and a
lot of times it revolves around love. I find those who choose "Love" win. What is love? That is the bigger question. I think it is interesting that someone would take a billboard that simply
asked the question, "If you are Homosexual and don't want to be?" and make it into a tool to spawn hate and judgment. If the billboard asked, "If you are Heterosexual and don't want to be?" I
wonder what the response would be... (For the record, I am a moderatly conservative liberal) SO smile, it makes people wonder what you are up to!
hey tiggerman, what's a "moderately conservative liberal"? you sound more like a mildly liberal homophobe. the only reason people who are attracted to the same sex would "choose" a
heterosexual life is to escape the self-hatred enforced by both church and state in this country. stop hiding your bigotry behind the idea of "choice."
when i first saw this i thought it was so wrong but laughing in the inside but once i got to the web site i kinda understood what they where trying to do but its still a little out there

11Wow, vegan, you're a super-sleuth! Thanks! I figured it was doctored but it sure provoked a reaction!

24Have at it, Giggle.
25ok once it was explained I get it, and maybe it's a little bit funny once put in the right context

30Thank you, Vegan, for doing your research. This is very controversial advertising ... reminiscent of the Benetton ads

32It would make more sense to change a homophobic society than to change homosexuals, whether it's their "choice" or not!
Just my thought!

34I think this is crazy completely crazy and soo not funni
35
'WTF?!?' indeed.
@ Sticky!
36TiggerMan, it sounds like you're still in the closet and are crying out for help. Let it out man, be strong!

38i cant believe that this billboard is actually out there. i had to read it 5 times before i actually realized what it said. wow.
39It's a good thing it's just someone being stupid with photo-shop.
40I really do think that's a horrible billboard. So offensive. and I'm curious as to how they are planning to "help" someone if they did feel that way?
