I feel for Lindsay Lohan. A tripped alarm sent the popo over to her LA home and it was so messy they thought her apartment had been "ransacked." Turns out, this is what it always looks like, and now the whole world knows!
I won't lie: my default mode is messy. I fight the good fight, but sometimes the mess wins. Books where they shouldn't be, clothes thrown hither and thither, the previous night's dinner party dishes sitting in the sink. A busy girl has better things to do than clean the apartment, I rationalize. And then I start cleaning again. . .reluctantly.
Are you neat or messy? If you're messy, do you fight it, or accept it?

I try to stay neat and organized. But after I clean, my room gets all messy again. Need to break the cycle.
1I have cluttered things, but my home is very clean in terms of dirt etc. I am ok with some stacks of magazines or some clothes on the floor, but I am a fanatic about clean countertops, scrubbing down the bathroom, and fresh sheets/towels.
2I've been getting better at staying organized since moving in with my boyfriend. Just my walk in closet is usually a real mess.
3My office is messy. My apartment is neat.
4I'm fairly neat. The only exceptions are the computer desk and the nightstand. I organize my closets and drawers according to color and size it's just so much easy to find things.
5I'm a combination of the two. Me and our middle daughter are actually the neatest 2 people in the house, but when we're competing against 4 messy people it can get a bit hairy at times.
6i am pretty neat except when i am in school. when i am in school my room is a mess during the week then i clean it up over the weekend and the cycle starts all over again. books, notebooks, clothes, shoes, book bags, etc. all on the floor.
7Thank you for this, I finally get to brag! lol
8I am insanely neat. Like I critique 'Monica Gellar' neat. No way would I have had all those open cabinets in that kitchen or all that cluttered, uncoordinated furniture!
But, I don't require it of other people. I know I'm odd.
I'm a neat and organized person for the most part. I have gone through periods where I let everything get messy and cluttered but it never lasts too long before it starts driving me nuts. I just feel better when everything is in it's place and clutter is to a minimum. My biggest pet peeve is cleaning up other peoples messes. Messy people who don't pick up after themselves drive me crazy.
9I am extremely neat. Like, I can't relax unless my house is spotless "neat". The only place that I am messy is my closet, and I have always been that way with it.... I'm not sure why. I am also sort of a germ-aphobe, too. So I am always busy cleaning or disinfecting one thing or the other. I am one of those people that can't really relax in a messy place, either. I think I clean my sister's house more often than she does.
10i'm a combo
11i like a clean place but i hate to clean
i enjoy tidying though, if it's a space all my own
lol telane - can you come do my house??
12yes skigurl! I love cleaning my personal spaces, but spaces that I have to share - not so much.
13Very neat. My mum can't stand anything untidy so I guess I got the cleaning bug from her. However, when I have exams, I tend to have lots of paper on tables and even on the floor. When I'm stressed though I have to either bake or clean!
14I make a living cleaning other people's messes, so that's usually the last thing I want to do... I try to keep the main rooms of the house clean, but my bedroom has become more of a storage room and a pig sty. Always has been.
15yah i'm not a big fan of other people's dirt
16My desire to keep things clean has earned me this fun nickname from my family: The Neat Nazi.
17yes, telane! i also can't relax in a messy space
tidiness is key and i can't handle sitting around trying to relax in someone elses messy house
18Me too, Party ! I am a neat freak.
19I'm messy...but I DO try to keep the public spaces as neat as possible. My room...well, I do a major clean up every once in a while, but it gets a bit messy most of the time.
20By WHAT definition are we going by for "messy"? I can understand in LiLo's case, where it looks like the apt. had been ransacked, or if there's food left out/under things and it's generally uninhabitable. But there are some people whose default organization style is to put things in piles or in what would be considered by most people to be "disorganized". I'm one of those people.
My room looks messy to an outsider. But if you don't go in and do what YOU think is "tidying it up" [i.e. move things out of the places that I have them, try to "sort" my piles, etc], then you will see that I know where everything is. There are still some times when I "lose" things in my room - mostly because somebody has told me to put the lost item in a "sensible" place. I like to think I'm somewhat organized, but of course it could use a little work - I like having LOTS of clear surfaces.
21i try to keep everything neat and always clean, otherwise i feel like it's contaminated.
22Yes, margo! My mess is organized. I pretty much know where I need to dig to find anything. It's when I clean up that I can never find what I'm looking for!
23Super super neat. I can't get things done if I feel like my house is messy. Like, if I have to do work or something, I have to clean up first. I hate clutter.
24My house is untidy, but never dirty. I'm a freak about not leaving food out, and I vacuum all the time, but with two messy people in the house in the process of combining their stuff, it's not realistic to have a place for everything and everything in its place.
25I wish I was a Neat Nazi. I'm messy, but not dirty - and it seems whenever my flat is as neat as a pin, I can never find anything! I guess it's not so much that I'm messy, it's just that I need to see everything I have all at once so I don't have to look for it!
26My dressing room and den need to be on Clean House!
27Ugh I'm a complete mess, I don't actually mean to be its just little things out of place really don't bother me and i always put them off for later, after a while it all adds up into this big mess of clothes, pillows, dirt, hair, etc. By the time it gets bad I'm way too overwhelmed to get anything done...I usually work my way trough it, I'll clean the bathroom one week and the desk the next week.
28My sister in law is a complete neat freak, the kind that can't have a couple ppl over because she cleans up everything like crazy. It bothers me to no end, its great that she's tidy I wish I was, but she needs to relax. She too is worse than Monica Geller Pensa.
yes margo and pistil!!! I am extremely organized/messy. If you walked into my room, it looks like a disaster zone. But I'm completely aware of where everything is located.
29I'm not dirty either. I hate dirt. I'm just messy
I am a big fat slob, but only in my areas (my bedroom, my bathroom, my car). But in the general areas I'm pretty good at staying clean.
30If I am too busy to keep it up, my room can get very messy, but I can also keep a room clean like it's nobody's business. I am very organized despite this.
31messy... very messy. although i keep the bathroom clean because that grosses me out if it isn't
32Somewhere in between! 70% neat, 30% messy. The important areas like kitchen & bath are always clean. I am getting better organized every day!
33I would like to have a sparkly clean residency. (That would be achieved only when I have a live-in who cleans 8/7). Now, I am okay (not exactly thrill) with my messy surrounding. I know where to find everything and important papers are kept in good order. But I definitely prefer a super clean dwelling if I don't have do any bit of the organizing and cleaning. I don't particular enjoy the cleaning process.
34when I say "live-in", I am referring to a domestic helper or an disinfectant officer. Thanks.
35very messy....but when i do clean im a perfectionist; however, this neatness never last.
36Where's the inbetween option? I'm neither neat nor messy ... somewhere in between.
37I am an absolute messpot. Every surface in my room is covered in hair ties, jewlelery, cds and bits of paper. My floor is usually got at least a pair of pants on it and shoes all over the joint. Its just clutter that I can easily clear up when it gets a bit much.
I'm clean when it comes to my bathroom though, I'm pretty anal about hair in the sink.
38I'm messy and so is my boyfriend.Even when we try to get neater, it fails almost instantly. We always have a pile of clothes on the bedroom floor, and we have an extra room that we just throw all of our junk in. We destroy the kitchen everyday, but we do also clean it everyday. I also vacuum several times a week, and he does too, so I wouldn't say we're dirty. I have a phobia about dirty showers so the bathroom, while messy, is actually usually quite clean. I think we could improve a little if we had more space and more storage areas, but I know that pile of clothes will probably always be there!
39i cant stand when things are super messy so i almost always have everything in my house clean lol
