High school reunions may warrant a fresh haircut and a new outfit, but some people go to extremes to impress former nerds, band geeks, jocks, and cheerleaders.
CNN has rounded up some examples. One struggling writer concocted a lie that he wrote the movie Tootsie — and everyone bought it!
Another woman, Andrea, hated high school, so she hired a stripper to go as her to the reunion. Andrea went so far as to plant an earpiece in "Cricket's" ear to feed her information and outrageous statements. And you better believe Cricket demonstrated her dancing skills, posing as Andrea, of course.
The thought of confronting old crushes or the mean girls (or maybe the girls you were mean to) can put a lot of pressure on people. Do you view high school reunions as a competition to prove you've turned out the best, or are the popularity contests so like, totally over?

i havent had a highschool reunion yet and dont know when i will...i guess a couple years to go before my 10th or 15th year
anyway, i look way better than i did in highschool and am much more successful than a lot of people i knew in highschool so i don't think i would feel awkward showing up there, but i think facebook kinda killed the whole reunion thing for our generation
1I don't know why people make a big deal about high school, I moved on the day I graduated, I must admit that I still have very close friends from high school but that's about it. I don't know if I would go to my high school reunion, its not that I heated high school is just that it I moved on for better things.
2I don't think lying about yourself at reunions will be able to go on much longer, thanks to facebook. I know what pretty much all my high school class is up to these days, and can see how well/bad they look now too!
3This is kind of lame.
4I loved the stripper story. That would be so fun to try, except for the few people I actually have kept in touch with. I hated high school and I would probably skip any kind of reunion.
5lol, perfect for her high school.
6This is ridiculous. Besides, facebook means you never have to go to a school reunion again.
7That video was hil.arious.
8That stripper gag was hysterical, but I don't think I could get away with something like that. I hated highschool when I was there but now it's a distant memory. I'm friends/in touch w/ the people I want to be - I think going to a reunion would be a waste of time.
9haha omg that's great.
10that video was so funny!! definitely don't feel the need to go to my high school reunion.
11That video was pretty funny. I don't plan to go to my reunion. I barely kept in touch with anyone, and I think the oneupmanship would annoy me.
12Why can't people just move on? I hated high school so much that after graduation, I threw out all my yearbooks and h.s. diploma and the h.s. diploma is a total joke, they totally lie to you in high school about how its so important. I don't even know why I bought those yearbooks. What a waste of money. I won't even attend a reunion, ever.
I've moved on. You can't go back to the past and change it, so I don't get why some people are stuck in it. Now is what matters. I'm not in touch with anyone from my h.s., sometimes you need to close certain doors.
13Yeah, I agree that the reunion idea is lost on our generation. My parents, aunts, uncles, etc are all really into attending their reunions, but my interest is pretty low. With things like Facebook, I pretty much know what everyone is up to and it's easy to keep in touch with anyone I care about.
14I had a great time in high school, and I still have tons of friends that I went to HS with -- and hey, I even made friends with the people I never liked and who didn't like me. I completely moved on, though. I know a reunion will turn into a popularity contest, and I am over being popular in the high school crowd -- been there, done that, not pleasant. I have nothing to prove, nothing to show, and no closure I need. I don't see why I would go. I think it's a waste of time, but I still have a few years before the time comes.
15Can everyone who is whining about Tressugar's new content & postings take on board a suggestion?
Stop reading it.
16"Can everyone who is whining about Tressugar's new content & postings take on board a suggestion? "
Umm everyone was saying that the video was funny and that we think high school reunions will become a thing of the past. What does this have to do with whining about Tressugar's content.
17My 10 year reunion will be in 2012. It's weird to me though because it doesn't feel like that much time has passed. I still stay in touch with a lot of people via Facebook and MySpace and I also see a bunch of them out. Thanks to these networking sites I pretty much know what everyone is up to and it seems like everyone still looks the same. I was a cheerleader but I was friends with everyone so it might be fun to get us all together at the reunion.
18My 10 year reunion is in September, and I can't decide whether I want to go. I have lived far away in a different state for the last 5 years, and haven't seen anyone from high school but my best friend in probably 7 years. My wedding is coming up the month after the reunion, so it might be fun to go an talk to other brides and newlyweds. I just don't know. Are these things ever fun?
19She's way prettier than the stripper that's playing her. I hated high school too, but when I went to my reunion, it was all about just being myself for once. It was nice to honestly not give a d***.

20I actually enjoyed high school. Went to an all girl school so didn't have to deal with the male atmosphere (yay!xinfinity).
i am still friends with several girls from the circle i was in. and tho i occasionally talk to people on facebook, i would like to go to my reunion in 2011. there's one girl i would like to apologoze to for being such a b*tch to tho i dunno if i shouldn't even bring it up. . .
now if there were reunions for middle school, ugh, i'd rather claw my eyes out, but thankfully there's none.
21Why go through all the trouble impressing jerks she'll never see again?
22Nah. Don't need to impress anyone from the old days. I could see the appeal though. A lot of the geeks turn out nicely, and it seems like the popular guys are the ones with the guts and balding. Or with a criminal record.
