They say when we grow up, we turn into our mothers. I know that I'm often startled when I get glimpses of my mom's face in the mirror, but more fascinating to me are the ways our personalities often resemble one another.
As I get older, I'm more aware of the traits that make me similar to my mom, whether it's our fondness for cheese, our taste in earrings, or our tendency to interrupt people during spirited conversations. So in honor of Mother's Day this Sunday (you sent a card, right?!), tell me: how are you most like your mom, in both good and bad ways?

Once we've each made a decision, that's it. Neither of us re-think anything after it's been decided. That's the trait I'm proudest to have gotten from my mama.
1I am hardly like my mother at all, thank goodness. The only thing I think I inherited from her is that when I get angry, I cry. Then I get irritated because I'm crying, and I cry more. Other than that, we are very very different, and I am so glad.
2I don't remember a whole lot about my mom...but people are always telling me I'm creative/resourceful just like she was. I remember that she had a TON of ideas that would help make life easier/better...starting mentoring programs and such. I do those same things, but in the realm of technology.
My mother also was great at giving advice. She could tell you what to do in just about any situation - and she wasn't afraid to tell you when you were WRONG! I got a lot of that from her...sometimes people tell me I don't make sense at the time, but then they come back after something's happened and are really surprised at how right I was.
She always aimed for the best, for excellence. Passing was never good enough, because if you have the energy to pass, you have the energy to excel. I got some of that [in a perfectionistic way] from her, too!
3My mom has Borderline Personality Disorder, so I hope to all things holy and powerful that I don't turn into her. I don't mind having her creative and musical talent, but otherwise I very much want to be my own person.
4Hmm, my Obsessive-compulsiveness when it comes to cleanliness and orderliness. I thought I really didn't get to be like that, but now that I'm a mom myself, dude, I'm totally all about being clean and etc (but I don't stop my son from playing outside in the dirt and mud--although he HAS to take shower and etc after doing that while his dad probably will let him fall asleep with muddy body). I also inherit some of her aggressiveness too
but only when provoked then I got mean
as for my mom, she
can just be mean anytime LOL I also inherit her blunt honesty. So if you asked me something (irl) and expected an honest answer, I'd give it without any BS, and sometimes it can offend some
people. Oh we also love shopping and exercising and eating healthy.
5Other than that, I'm pretty much her opposite, LOL.
I'm loyal, I am a font of useless but fascinating knowledge, and I make really delicious margaritas
6I don't think I look anything like my mom and that upsets me a bit. My mom's siblings and friends say I look like her but I don't see it. I know that I resemble my mom in our ability to laugh out loud at everything, our shared love of animals, our shared ability to curse like a sailor, our ability to shut people down at will, and our deep desire to take care of people to the point of sacrificing ourselves. Oh yeah and we were/are both very skeptical of things and situations but open to all people. We both give everyone a shot to do right by us,and if they screw it up they feel the wrath.
7I look nothing like my mom, and as far as personality/traits, we really have nothing in common there either. We are two totally different people (regardless if I came from her genes), and we often argue because our personalities clash. We have none of the same hobbies at all, and I often wish I had a different mother. I just want someone I can hang out with and talk to. My mom and I never do anything together because we don't like the same things. If I try and talk to my mom about something, she doesn't even listen. She will walk away from me or interrupt me and start talking about something completely different. I think the only thing I got from her was my bad temper.
8My mom is a little OC, and I am too, but not in every way. I am more outgoing and more confrontational than my mother, and I care less about traditional things. We're lucky that we're both very caring, loving, unselfish individuals-- we get along well!!
9I get my obsessive nature from my mom. Both of us tend to latch on to something and that's our world for the foreseeable future. It's great when I'm training for a marathon, taking more college classes, etc, but it sucks because I let it interfere with every other aspect of my life.
10We both date sensitive, artistic men, and we are both very independent.
We also, apparently, have the same voice. People used to always get us confused on the phone when I lived at home.
11I think the only thing I inherited from my Mom is my creativity and artistry. Actually, in this regard, I think I am MORE creative and artistic than she is (she thinks so, too). I share nothing else with her (and I'm glad of it
).
12My mom and I are only the same when it comes to being upset or stressed out, we act like we are angry -- when it's really not the case at all. Other than that, I am NOTHING like my mom, and all like my dad. I like my mom's personality in some ways, she is kind of dramatic, attention-wh*rey, and very sensitive. Not to mention pessimistic, and a whole bunch of other stuff. She is very loving, nurturing and stuff too. I am the absolute opposite of her. Well, I am loving, and I guess that's it.
13Besides people saying that I am the spitting image of my mother when she was my age, my mom and I are extremely similar in the way we deal with relationships and people around us. We are both very good listeners and would rather lend a helping hand before doing something for ourselves.
14I just realized the other day that I'm turning into a cheapskate...just like my mom!! I'm not quite as bad as she is but I think it's getting worse the older I get.
15she has an unbelievably good heart, too much for her own good actually. i'd like to think i inherited that from her, just in a less naive way
16My mom and I both have horrible tempers - when we're angry, watch out! Unlike her, though, my fuse is a lot longer. Thank goodness, I guess. lol
17I repeat myself all the time and get in hormonal flaps.
18I'm proud to be very much like my mother. We are both incredibly loyal, compassionate, and sensitive. We are lovers...not fighters. We have the same fashion sense and we both love to travel. We often say the same exact things out loud at the same time. We'll be watching TV or a movie and something funny or ridiculous will happen and I know that when I look over at her she'll be looking back at me with the same expression. We both put others before ourselves and we are thoughtful gift givers. I could go on and on...
19We tend to not finish sentences. We'll just trail off. It really bugs my dad and my fiance!
20My mom and I look a lot a like, but personality-wise, my older brother and her are much more similar. I have my dad's personality/disposition.
21We think the same, say the same thing at the same time, look the same. I'm her doppleganger.
22I'm like my mom in that when I'm sad, scared, happy I always laugh, and thats not good when its the wrong time to laugh ^_^; Of course I have my fathers temper
23I have some resemblance to my mom, but just physically. We have very different personalities, and she's a very pesimistic person, unlike me.
24I found out that my mother and grandmother both had an obsession for Viva paper towels.
25Hilarious. I thought that was my own discovery. I guess paper products take over my life as did my mothers and my grandmother's.
