The president and first lady went out for date night on Saturday, their first since his presidency began. After dinner at a French restaurant in Georgetown, the couple strolled along the verdant South Lawn, waving as the press pool snapped up pictures.

just another carefully coordinated night out for the obamas. I wonder what the press release looked like.
1i don't care
2exactly. This is neither sex, love, culture OR NEWS. Who cares about the Obamas? This is not relevant to TreSugar and frankly im tired of my daily sites getting hyped over anything to do with the OBAMAS. Do yourselves a favor, teamsugar, and stop featuring the Obama's every damn day. Maybe then your reader base wouldnt be so turned off?
3This has been featured on other news site but I agree, I don't see what the big deal is.
And Obama is the PRESIDENT, why wouldn't he be included everyday on a site that supposed to be (at least partially) about politics.
4I HATE OBAMA SO NO ONE SHOULD EVER POST ABOUT HIM GAAWWWWD
5Okay honestly, no one visits this site for news and The Obama's going on a date night is HARDLY news even if it was such a site. Everyone goes to dinner with their spouses and they arent celebrities so I'm unsure why there is a slide show of them walking across the lawn. When Bush was president I dont recall gossip blogs constantly posting about him or his wifes clothing and/or when they went on a date. Just another example of media bias I suppose.
6I don't really mind... I think it is nice that Pres Obama is trying to relate to the public, showing that he still does go on dates with his wife, play with their dog, etc. Presidents are going to get press.. I would rather it be for something like this than something really bad.
And while I am honestly still not a big fan of tressugar, I feel like if you want real "non-fluffy" news, go to the BBC or CNN or FOX or w/e... ?
7i find it weird when married people call going out "a date". date is for single people
8I think its sweet, if you want pressing breaking news don't come to a site with "sugar" in the name. until Ted Turner buys the sugar network, let this go people, come on.
9And?
10I like them as a couple, I really think they're a good-looking couple and look adorable and seem so to each other
11But I have to admit, I've seen this on other news websites online, and wonder to myself.
I never remember if there's a tidbit about Bush or even Clinton going on date nights/dinner date or anything like that when they were presidents. It wasn't really noticed if they did have alone time or even publicized.
It is a good PR move for Obama and the media sure is lapping it up.
It's sad when the public is so strongly influenced by advertising when making political choices. Half of the people who voted him into office had no idea what they were voting for.
12People, it didn't happen with Clinton or Bush because they weren't doing anything with their wives, especially Clinton (need a reminder?).
13I want empirical evidence that half the people who voted for Obama didn't know what they were voting for. Especially because the assumption behind that statement is that people who voted McCain knew exactly what they were doing.
I'm willing to concede that people don't educate themselves about their choices. But I'm not willing to concede that one side is worse than the other.
Anyway, I don't want to get into this debate here, because the truth is that no one has done any kind of accurate reporting. So any opinion is just going to be that - an opinion.

Why don't you listen to this? Yes, it's only Harlem but how many others did the same thing? When you look at the data nearly 98% of black people voted for obama. Are you telling me that 98 % of african americans in this nation are democrats and are voting for change? NO. The simple fact is that they voted for race and it won the election.
15Honeybrown, how do you know for sure that the previous presidents didn't have 'date nights' or 'dinner date' with their wives?
I don't remember any NEWS reporting on any date night or even dinner date or whatever with the other presidents because I didn't read or watch any news regarding that.
I'm willing to bet that the other presidents have 'downtime' with their wives (whether just a quiet time having quiet dinner, etc or hanging out with the children, or etc), but the newsmedia wasn't reporting on those moments (well, very rarely anyway). Maybe they're not as open as having their pics taken, or what-have-you.
As for Clinton, sure he cheated (who can forget about that LOL), but heck, who knows what he sometimes did with Hillary when he's not at office, and Bush, yeah, with the amount of time he took going to Camp David or etc, I think he did stuffs with his wife too, only not being reported as obsessively as the media is doing right now. While in this presidency, the news media is so obviously into the Obamas (has such a huge attraction to this First family).
Again, this is a GREAT PR move to allow some media inclusion in every family thing/romantic thing they do. I've been admiring Obama campaign since the beginning, they're examples of great PR moves and Advertising, to the point that I wish I were still in journalism school in a few years from now (when they will be discussing about his campaign, ads, pr, etc).
16The past few years of just observing the news has made me realized how powerful media is, and how it can help mold people's perception on a public figure in any way they want to. It's very interesting.
I agree that a married couple is just going out and not on a date. I know well what dates are, since I am single and I never have them. I am a little perturbed by the faux tail Michelle is sporting. Is that a mistake?
17stuchbery, you are saying race won the election, based on what exactly? On the statistics that 98% of the people in harlem voted for obama? So that means that all African-Americans in the USA also voted for Obama because he is black? Maybe he just won because he was the best candidate? It really bugs me when people imply that Obama won because supposedly all the African-Americans voted for him. Then why didn't Hilary win? All the women could've voted for her, but they didn't.
Anyway, this is besides the point, and I don't want to start a debate. But these pictures with his wife make me happy!
18Omigosh, your comment is so refreshing. One of my favorite music groups expresses my sentiment as well I think yours, "let it be", the Beatles.
It's quite uplifting, positive and necessary to see a healthy and happy President verses a confused, scandalous and embarrassing one.
19She's not very dressed up....for a first lady on a date.
