I was looking through the list of the UK's most complained about ads, when I came across a doozie. In an Orangina ad that upset those sensitive to sexism, creatures with female features dance provocatively in the forest.
A flamingo gets down on the stripper poll, and a deer gets dowsed in Orangina. Zebras ride massive bottles that shoot juice all over a bikini-clad bunny, and an octopus's breasts turn into juicy oranges. (All the animals are wearing bikinis, by the way.) The female animals are definitely oversexualized, but do you find it offensive?

Balenciaga
Mavi Jeans
Ruco Line
not offended, is it stupid? yes.
1offended is a little bit of what this makes me feel. but only a little bit. mostly i'm offended by the fact that the female characters are all doing strip teases as we need a reminder that in our culture women are but mere entertainment. toys to be played with.
2Ads like this are why I am incredibly grateful that I no longer watch television programming.
And yes, it is offensive. A deer with jiggly breasts? I would not want my daughter (or son for that matter) to see this commercial while watching cartoons or something... Yes, it could just be construed as stupid, but the sexualization of orange juice is what turns it offensive.
3I'm somewhat offended, but more than that it's just disturbing and weird.
4That ad creeps me out in every way.
5So weird.
6A deer has breasts now? Just weird and disturbing....
7I'm not sure offended is the right word. I mean I don't feel objectified any more than I do knowing that some women choose to strip and slide around on poles all day wiating for men to stuff cash into their g strings. I am not that person and so it doesn't apply to me. I really think it's unfortunate that we live in a world where advertisers think they have to show EVERYTHING as a sexually charged vulgar environment to get people to buy their products. I certainly wouldn't want my kids (if I had them) to be exposed to all of that stuff. I think it's sad that innocence and modesty take a back seat to making a quick buck now. Overall I think it just speaks to a deterioration of values in society as a whole. it's pretty sad.
8haha.. this ad plays before every movie in French movie theatres. I've never really understood it, but it's so far-fetched that it sometimes makes me laugh. I definitely don't feel objectified, however.
9It's a dumb ad but it doesn't offend me. What bothers me however, is that on the website, the commercial where the two men kiss received more complaints than the one where the child pretends to smoke.
10This ad reminds me of a Duff Beer commercial on the Simpsons; Duffman sees a couple of feminists wearing suits, sprays Duff Beer on them from a fire hose, and they turn into giggling girls in bikinis. Yeah, it's like this.
11It's odd... but not new.
12For example, Loony Tunes and Warner Brothers cartoons like Animaniacs have featured female animals with the apprearance of human figures (that both look and act in pretty sexualized ways)...
I grew up watching these cartoons... I never found them offensive but I may have rolled my eyes and I do remember that those were never among my favourite female cartoon characters.
really like the octopus squeezing her oranges, not... Its way over sexed would never fly here. Offended nah just weird.
13i am blown away at how overly dramatic everyone is being about this. i found it hysterical.
14people who are offended by things like this need to check themselves
15i am not offended by it, i found it funny
16I'm not offended as in "let's start a riot", but it is objectifying, and damn, sex can sell anything. It's just so common, who cares? Right?
17Not offended just weirded out.
18Who know an orange flavored drink was so sexy...and kinda slutty, lol.
So in the next commercial, can the bear strip down and dance?
19yeah, that's offensive. so much female objectification and the guy bears just soaking it in, literally being served by hypersexualized "women" -- but the whole ad is just so stupid that it's not even worth paying attention to, imho
20... I laughed...
21I'm offended that people find it offended.
What's wrong with saying women can be sexy? It's not objectifying women, it's just showing one aspect of what it means to be a woman.
I know a lot of women who are strippers, and aside from a handful of awkward customers, most of them have said they really enjoy their job.
Does nobody notice the bear is wearing a man-thong and being a stereotypical male as well? Where are the offended men?
22I laughed too.
23I'm no prude. I am not a very religious person. I was a player at one time, but these ads are sick. Human being are NOT animals, unless you let your Self be trained to act like one. The sooner people (not animals) realize what SATANISM is, and see the INTENT of ads like these, the sooner the world will come back from the edge of the abyss.
