Meet Stacy Anderson, a sexy, intelligent, 40-year-old real estate agent who's done really well for herself and her four children. Married at 16 and feeling like she lived her youth for her ex-husband and children, Stacy's now ready to PARTAY, mmkay? find true love with a guy in his early 20s. (Wait — what?) I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but is looking for true love as a mature, accomplished woman among a pool of inexperienced horndogs with a thing for older women going to get you what you want?

This clip from the premiere episode of TV Land's The Cougar, hosted by Vivica A. Fox (!) will make you wonder if "true love" is what our gal Stacy here is really after. I'm just sayin'. . .

Twins on reality shows — love related ones — really freak me out.
1NOT watching this one
2Why is it okay that an old cougar lady having mid-life issues goes after some young hotness, but when a 40-something gentleman goes after a 20-something woman, he's a creepy almost child-molester?
3It's creepy both ways in my book. I'll pass on watching this show.
4oh man, i wanted to see this last night. looks like it will be great for laughs, a la true beauty. i don't get why the guys want an older woman. it's not that she isn't attractive, but she's got an ex-husband, children, and isn't going to tolerate their slacking in any areas.
5Eww... thats just disturbing.
6She looks more like the cats meow to me.
7not goin to see it but. i know i cant wait to be a old cougar. but for now in my 20's i say to them...stay out of MY dating pool !!! lol
8dienliv - you know, I always hear it the other way around. We see men in their 60's dating women in their late 20's and don't say anything. But when you say a lady like this going after the young guys, people make a ruckus.
Personally, I have a big soft spot for age gaps. My step-dad is only seven years older than me, and ten years younger than my mother. On the flip side, *my* husband is 7 years younger than my mom, and 10 years older than me. But either way you look at it, anybody who knows us will tell you that our respective hubbies are the best things to ever happen to us.
I think it's screwed up to turn it into a reality show, to be honest, but as for a 40 year old woman chasing 20-something guys? Not a big deal. My mom was 31 with a 13 (almost 14) year old, and a 6 year old, and got with a guy who had literally just gotten the right to drink. They love each other, and I think that's the important part in any relationship.
(Note: As far as I'm concerned, all parties involved need to be consenting adults, I do have that condition on age gaps. However, my idea of what's adult and someone else's probably varies since I was 16 when my husband and I began our relationship).
9She pretty much said on the Rachael Ray show that even if her kids get a bit weirded out when she dated a guy her daughter went to school with, it's all good as long as Mommy's happy and it 'fits into the family dynamic'...yeesh. Yes, you got married waaaaay too young and are now single again and enjoying it, fine...but crap like that is just creepy. Yikes.
10Don't even acknowledge crap like this. If you ignore it, it will go away.
11I wouldn't mind this show if she at least looked 40!
12As for finding love when the age gap is that big, I think in many, many cases it never works out. Probably because you're in two very different places. So, even if you act like a hardcore partier at 40, but you have kids, and all that kind of stuff you're not like a 20 year old. It has nothing to do with maturity, but I think that a lot of these women really just want a guy that they can settle down with -- and maybe if you want to get it right in a shorter amount of time, don't date someone younger than your daughter. It probably won't work out.
If I was 40 and single, I'd start looking at other 40 somethings who had a similar life, so we could understand each other better, and maybe help where help is needed.
I have a boyfriend of 2 years who is two years younger, and even THAT isn't too easy!
13Right on Matdredalia.
I don't have a problem with this. More power to her. I say it's high time the playing field should be even.
1410 to 1 she doesn't get anything out of this except another mouth to feed.
15Ha, dm8bri! Maybe even two mouths to feed — especially since Vivica Fox announces "they're twins" as if it were a birth announcement!
16Indeed.
17I agree with Chrstne. She does not have much more time to waste. By the time she is 50, chances is very slim that other 50 years old bachelors, even the ones with the same life and marital experiences would want to aggressively pursue her for a 2nd or 3rd marriage. It's alright if she wants to play for a bit but a woman's prime is limited and despite how unfair/wrong and how much we don't want to accept this, men in our and most other societies in the world at this time still judge a woman's marketability by her appearance and fidelity level. It is true that "settling down" does not involve a marriage but since she's had a house, a successful career and a family of 4, she is pretty much settled down in a sense. If it's not for marriage, why bother?.... These are my thoughts.
18ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww I saw a clip, the "rose ceremony" part of this show is a kiss - every night she calls out each and every guy and kisses them, the ones that kiss on the lips get to stay, the ones that get the cheek leave.
Imagine being the 20th guy selected to stay, what a prize! People on tv are so gross sometimes.
19AWKWARDNESS to the max!!! eww.. im sorry she is pretty and could do so much better. i dont see the point in what she is doing. if it works for her great.... different strokes for different folks i guess.... but honestly when will this kind of reality bull be over with?
20makes for good ratings and money in the bank for the "cougar." She isnt dumb!
21I hear you, Matdredalia. I guess I'm just skeptical that a woman of her maturity and age could find true love with someone in their early 20s. True lust? Yes. But what do I know? I'm sure it's happend. Lord knows it's happened with older men/younger women.
22very true zeze lol. i have no hard feelings on her getting some young thing. they're all of legal age and she seems independent. i must admit that if i saw the roles reversed i would be very suspicious of the dirty old man trying to manipulate a young girl. i can't help it. its my life experience that makes me think such things i guess. i do roll my eyes, however, because this is yet another cheesy matchmaker show where its obvious that all players are in it for fame instead of love and, though the main character would probably like to chuck 90% of the contestants from day 1, they hang in there week after week to fulfill they're contractual obligations. i already see the reunion show where she and her pick announce they grew apart after the final episode and the hostess announces auditions for true love part deux. will i be watching it? heck yeah.
23u gotta give it to her, she looks good for her age, but even if she finds love i personally dont think that i would last. 20yrs difference is just too much, just think about it when he will be 30 she will be 50! come on now!!
24She's beautiful and can find someone much better than an attention seeking immature 20-something, through TV at that! But, I really don't think she's on the show to find love. She's probably just doing it for kicks, now that she's single with nothing to do. ha!
25i think that she's a great women looking for love and i hope she finds love at the end and i hope it's jon. out of all the guys jon is 27 has a job and a home i think she's better off just picking him and going on her way. i think she will pick who she feels right for her and her kids.
