By now we all know that Glenn Beck is a little extreme in his rhetoric. Well yesterday he took his impersonation of President Obama to the next level. The Fox News host imitated the president by pouring "gasoline" on an "average American." The manic metaphor was supposed to explain that Barack Obama is setting the American public on fire by apologizing to the "Frenchy French," sort of bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia, hinting toward a change in Cuban policy, taking on immigration, and pushing through his budget. Beck said Obama was "spending money that leads only to slavery."
Take a look, it gets extra intense toward the end, and tell me what you make of it?

I vote sad because that what that display was. He's getting loonier by the day.
1I don't see why this is any different then the stunts other personalities on other networks have done. It get's his point across. Even if you don't agree with it.
But I am sure there will be a BUNCH of people on this site who will be quick to damn this man.
2I liked it, some people like visuals as I do, and thats exactly how I feel about how obama is treating us sometimes.
3"we would like some sanity in our country for a second"
4"the change we wanted was an end to the game"
What "stunts other personalities on other networks have done"? are in any way similar to pouring gasoline on a person Hainan?
5That redstate guy was way over dramatic though.
6It was water
7Water or not, it was meant to depict gasoline.
8What similar stunts?
He needs to get a church...he reminds me of Reverend Wright, He can call himself Reverend White.
9GKitty that is racist
10stephen colbert shooting electricity through Mccains eyes for one
11Yeah...what an absurd thing to say. Totally lacking intelligent thought.
12he is a Mormon. he has a church. ANd i agree GK, that was just wrong to say.
13*towards GKitty's comment #9
14Maybe. You don't think he needs Jesus?
15Why? because he thinks that BO is screwing us over and might as well do us in versus slowly torturing us to death?
16Fair enough Hainan, I never saw that.
17Electricity isn't quite as accessible as gasoline, but I agree the anger is the same - I did say the other day that Colbert's 'angry mob' call for AIG was violent and in poor taste and I think Beck's trick is the same.
GK, you arent making sense.
18Steph, he isnt telling people to pour it on BO.
19Good that you are honest. But i don't see a rise to arms against Colbert on this site. So let's just calm it down regarding Beck
20Ever since the 9 principles/11 commandments or whatever, I've been really annoyed with Glenn Beck. He seems to have suffered some sort of emotional breakdown since joining the Fox News commentators.
21You know who's really crazy? Rachel Maddow. She's been wacko since her Air America days.
22And I agree CG- He is saying this is what Obama is doing to us and not what we should do to other people. Unlike the fore mentioned colbert's calling an angry mob to AIG. no where near the same thing
23Definitely, Dave. When she's not smugly reading off the teleprompter, she says some pretty off the wall things.
24Also the left media doesn't care about personal responsibility. Which I think if far more reckless that this stunt.
25"Also the left media doesn't care about personal responsibility."
26do they call people out on their irresponsible actions or do they constantly make excuses for them?
27Oh unless their rich, then they are the devil.
I can't believe people are actually comparing Colbert to this guy. The Colbert Report and Colbert's "character" that he portrays is clearly something that is supposed to be comical. Beck's show is a "serious" one and he's not playing a "character" as far as I know. You can't compare the two and get offended the same way. Yes, because we really are gonna get pitchforks and assemble a mob. Its meant to be satirical and funny.
28My computer's slow...won't let me watch the video, but from what I read it doesn't sound like these kinds of antics can win over moderates so I voted delusional.
29I'm just shocked this isn't another, "Look how funny and insightful Jon Stewart is," post.
30I have to agree with amofoz. Even though Colbert was over the top it was already established as a character. Beck never gave the impression that his on camera persona is just that, a persona. Compared to who he used to depict himself as when he first started this is slowly starting to veer into suck-your-thumb-in-the-corner-and look-at-the-purple-elephants territory.
31What is Beck doing, is he telling people to go light people on fire?
32he is an entertainer.
33How is what he did dangerous? Regardless of if Colbert "thinks he is just portraying a character and Jon Stewart Just considers himself a comedian, kids do take them seriously. Even if in a joking manner someone tells people to form an angry mob, you have to take responsibility for telling people to do it. The difference here is that Beck has not told people to do anything dangerous. Only saying that Barack Obama is doing dangerous things to America. His way of visualizing it may be questionable. But I knew this was going to have all the liberals in an uproar, but nothing their sides does is EVER irresponsible.
34"kids do take them seriously."
Adults do as well, given by the devotion on here.
35Knowing Glenn Beck this should come as no surprise. Look I don't blame any one for being anxious and concerned about the amount of money we're spending but I believe we need to give this time to work. IMO it is hard to look at anything else other than the money going out with blinders on because we can't focus on anything else except watching the money go out. The Presidents team on the other hand is looking at the big picture and the future and they think they see an means to an end and I'm gonna have faith in that. This hasn't even been given a chance to work so I'm gonna at least give it that much before considering it a bad mistake or not.
As for the twelve million illegal immigrants and minimum wage jobs that the clear majority of them work for we have to understand before we get up in arms that a path way to citizenship is just that a path that they must travel to citizenship. We're not waving a wand and saying o.k. you're citizens now. Some of them won't make it and be deported and for anyone who thinks that deporting twelve million people is a good idea for our economy I will come by and help you find your marbles.
As for the Presidents apologies abroad I say bravo. Do not mistake his apologies for an apology of American principles and liberties etc. as his critics would have you believe. Arrogance is arrogance. You can make a good point and not be arrogant and make the same good point and be arrogant. The latter is what we’ve done a lot of. More often than not we’ve also been guilty of throwing our weight around and daring anyone to ask question our actions as though we speak for the world and that’s it case closed. Sorry doesn’t work that way. We need the world as much as the world needs us and until we get that through our thick heads and learn to stomach a little humble pie from time to time in order to finesse international cooperation we’re gonna continue to have a hard time of it.
36Could not have said it better myself hypnoticmix!
37So are we really to think that just because Colbert says "hey guys gather your pitchforks and let's go!" it's a dangerous threat and people will in fact do it?? Wow, I thought we were more rational than that.
38"More often than not we’ve also been guilty of throwing our weight around and daring anyone to ask question our actions as though we speak for the world and that’s it case closed".
But when the "world" needs us to be its police we arent quite so arrogant anymore.
39"We're not waving a wand and saying o.k. you're citizens now."
That's what they wanted to do in 2006, and it's what they did in 86. We need to begin deporting any and all illegals that we find. Will we get all 12 million? No. Will we get enough that we close down those businesses that use take advantage of this group of people? Yes.
40I guess if you've never even given thought to being in someone else's shoes for one second the idea of deporting illegals, "any and all", would make sense.
41can I pick both dangerous and delusional?
Wow. that so many people feel this is dead on terrifies me and will probably keep me from sleeping at night. If this were Bush and not Obama I feel like the same people would accuse him of being unpatriotic.
42"So are we really to think that just because Colbert says "hey guys gather your pitchforks and let's go!" it's a dangerous threat and people will in fact do it??"
The same could be said about the conservative pundits who make the same comments.
43"I guess if you've never even given thought to being in someone else's shoes for one second"
What is this supposed to mean?
44I don't know if the question was for me Hain but I will state my opinion. Of course, he isn't. This is what he believes Obama is doing to us. Beck wouldn't condone anything of the such.
Beck was seen on a much larger scale as a television commentator who gave his opinions about the going's on in America, for the most part, in a respectable and reputable manner. He has always been passionate but that is what I liked about him. He gave fire without shoving it down your throat. Lately, it seems as if he has turned the show into a circus sideshow more often than not. The crying, excessive ranting and now this. I, personally, am trying to hold on to the respect I had for him as a real and intelligent commentator.
45How about the illegals put themselves in other people's shoes? There are plenty of people that want to migrate to the US. Many of them are waiting patiently to do so. Many others are already here legally. What makes the illegal ones so special that they should get moved to the head of the line?
46Dead on. Beck is using in-your-face imagery to get valid points across.
47Contrary to what seems to happen on this board everything is not split by liberals and conservatives. What he did could incite those who side with him to perform like gestures just as Colbert's comment could do the same to his viewers. I am sure that everything that is seen on television is not taken literal by most or the world, but everyone should use some form of filter in case impressionable are watching, even if you are on cable. There are people on both sides of the fence who don't and it makes no sense pointing who "mostly" or "largely" does not.
I don't have issue with the point he was trying to make because it is his opinion. I am just saddened to see him go down a road where he is becoming a caricature of himself.
48People are concerned about OctoMom having a show, while this wack job already has one? Please.
49Also, comparing Colbert to Beck? Uh, here's a hint--one uses satire for a COMEDY show, the other one is just a total joke. Take your pick, I guess!
