We live in a very connected world, and while I do enjoy my alone/quite time, I also like to feel close to my loved ones, which is why I keep my cell phone on throughout the night — you know, just in case! I do understand how irritating late-night interruptions can be, so tell me what you do!

I keep it on but not so I can answer it. I turn the ringer on to alarm only...because it's my alarm clock!
1I keep mine on but I know no one who is crazy enough to call me if its not an emergency.
2Nope keep it off definitely. Sleep is MY time. My boyfriend keeps his on though and it really annoys me when his business partner calls at like 1am...grrr.
3My boyfriend and I are an audio engineers... he works, typically, from like 2pm until 5am (sometimes until the next day at 2pm, though)... I need my phone on at night or I'd barely get to talk to him...
4My parents live on their boat and are always traveling, I leave my phone on because I am way too terrified that something will happen and they wont be able to get ahold of me. Same goes for my friends, if they're calling me after 11pm it's usually for something important.
5i put it on vibrate and i don't answer it unless it's an emergency.
6I keep it on since it's my only phone (I wouldn't take a landline phone off the hook at night). It's also one of my alarm clocks.
7When i use it as my alarm, it sits next to my pillow and is on all night. If someone does call or sends me a text, I usually don't hear it anyway.
8it's on silent while i'm sleeping
9I keep it on. It's my alarm and it's the only way to get me - we don't have a land line. So if there is an emergency I'd like to know immediately
This past summer I was very happy it was on in the middle of the night - my future MIL called me (about 1am) to let me know they were on their way to the hospital - they had found a matching liver for her transplant. She couldn't get ahold of my fiance (her son) so if my phone had been off we wouldn't have known until the next morning.
10i used to put it on silent and i have missed some emergency calls. so since then its always on
11I set the alarm clock for my other half to get up in the morning. I set my phone for me to get up later. I get the occasional text from someone I just ignore it and go back to sleep. I'm so lucky to be a heavy sleeper. If someone calls in the middle of night it had better be important. I've lectured friends for drunk calls in the middle of the night and I lecture the next day.
12I use my blackberry as an alarm clock so it is always on during the night!
13My blackberry is my only phone so I keep it on just in case of anything. & sometimes I use it as my alarm clock
14yes! it's my alarm clock but i also like to know who is calling and texting me in the middle of the night.
my sister is in college so she's a party girl so sometimes she might need me, and my boyfriend sometimes wakes up super early for work so i like to get texts from him to know he's alive and thinking of me....plus, i just like random drunk dials and texts...and if my boyfriend is out one night and i'm not, he always calls to say goodnight at 3am or 4am and i love that!
15I cant turn it off for anything in the world. I dont live with my family anymore (they are in a different state) and I have gotten some very important calls at all types of hours, it is important that they are able to reach me at all times, at least to me.
16it's my alarm clock
17I keep it off, but that's kind of bad since I don't have a land line, no one can reach me in the middle of the night...
18I keep it on since it's the only phone I have and I live alone. You never know what emergencies will come up over night.
19I like to keep it on at all times. I know it might be slightly unhealthy to be "connected" all of the time but at the same time, it's good to be available "just in case" anyone needs you for an emergency.
20I keep it on.
If somebody calls me at night and I'm not expecting it, I know something terrible has happened or they're reaching out for help. I don't want to be that call that never picked up just b/c it was late. Also, if I have an emergency, even though I live with family, I need to be able to communicate that something has happened if I can't get out of bed/contact them .
21Yep it stays on. It's my alarm clock and the only way for people to get in touch with me in case of an emergency.
22Ugh, off for sure. I'm not one of those who likes being plugged in all the time. It stresses me out.
23It's not only my alarm clock but I leave it on in case of an emergency.
24I keep it on as an alarm clock, but everything else is silent.
25It's my alarm clock, so I keep it on.
26Sleep is important to me so I always turn off. Well I turn the phone on silent, so I can see the texts/missed calls in the am.
27Alarm clock/Sometimes I wake up late so I don't want to miss an important call/Maybe a potential emergency may come up with family. I understand if your phone rings off the hook, which is why you'd turn it off.
28i never turn my phone off.. btw if you set an alarm with most phones, it will still go off even if its closed. mine does, and i have the basic krzr
29I keep it on...if someone needs to call me at 3 am its probably something dire, so I want to get that call. I also use my phone as my back up alarm clock.
30I'm completely with MrsRachel - if someone is calling me in the middle of the night, it's urgent. If I had an emergency and needed someone, I wouldn't want their phone to be turned off... I was in a car wreck one Sunday morning at about 7:30, and my mom definitely wasn't awake when I called to tell her, but I needed to talk to her! If she'd had her phone off, it would have been a big deal. (Of course, fortunately, my mother and I never turn our phones off!)
31its my alarm clock...
32If my phone rings at 4:00 am it's more than likely an emergency. When I was living in London my grandmother died and my parents called in the middle of night my time to tell me - I'm glad I was able to answer that phone call.
What if a friend was in trouble? What if a family member was rushed to the hospital?
I'd rather miss a few minutes of sleep...
33I leave it on. My family lives on the other side of the world so they tend call me at all hours not realizing it's the middle of the night. I don't mind it too much though.
34it's on, but on silent and without vibration
35I keep it on with the alert if I'm not sleeping with my man. When I'm with him I have it on silent because I wouldn't want him waking up to various email alerts.
36FYI to all the girls that keep it on just as alarm clock: you can set the alarm and turn off the phone and it still will ring as your alarm on time!
they have internal clocks.
37I keep mine on because
a) I have children and I don't want to miss an emergency call
b) It is my only phone
c)It's my alarm clock.
My phone stays on vibrate most of the time because of work so it is already there at night.
38I keep my phone on at night. It's our alarm, and it's also the only way for my family to get in touch with me in the case of a late night emergency (we don't have a landline).
39Yeah, late night calls are the best bc either it's drama, emergency(not good), or drunk friends/ex's/ bfs and etc....
40I also use mine as a back up alarm (and when I turn it off the alarm doesn't work). It's funny because I have a land line that I do turn off. Go figure!
41Off. I barely turn the thing on. I hate being available all the time.
42mine is set to go silent between midnight and 6:45. Since i don't start work these days till noon, i don't have ANY reason to be up before then.
43My phone is my alarm clock, so it stays on, with the ringer, all night. But I also don't know anyone who would call me after 11PM unless it was an emergency, and I'd rather know than not get the message until the next morning. I've been victim to a few drunken texts from strangers who were either not good at putting numbers into their phones, or thought they got a number and was lied to. Confusing, but not annoying enough to warrant turning off the phone for sleeping.
44Definitely off. I'm on call enough for people during the day, nighttime is for me.
45I keep mine on. Theres always been a need for it to be on, such as a loved one in hospital, my dad's on a business trip or my partners on holiday with his parents. Now it's just habit.
And it's my alarm
46I turn it off only when I'm home.If anyone needs to reach me that's what my home phone is for.
47I keep both of them turned on - work and personal. I work with vulnerable people who could be made homeless at a moment's notice so they both stay on.
48on cuz the alarm is the only one i trust to wake me~
49on for the alarm. plus, no one calls me at night since I go to bed later than everyone I know - as you can see...
