I've been to resorts that say this too. They talk for 3 paragraphs on how safe it is to drink from the tap because of uper-duper filters and whatnot. And end it with saying they don't
recommend it though. weird
i'd like to know what i'm showering in has been filtered and based on this message, i would also brush my teeth with it without swallowing large quantities, but i wouldn't drink anything but
bottled water in a foreign country
It's probably a legal thing. In countries with older systems, no matter how well those resorts maintain their own pipes, some pipe a few miles from them might develop a leak and get things in
them. And if their filtering systems are unable to get all of that out, they don't want to be held responsible - it's kind of like a disclaimer.
